  • what is copyright in friction lollll

  • Can anyone name anything else that 40% of the country watched at the same time? 9/11 maybe?

  • fap fap fap fap fap

  • Today (Feb 26) is my son, Tom's, birthday. Less than three weeks before he was born I watched this show, likely on our brand-new 9" black and white television in our tiny apartment in Hallock MN. If memory serves, my wife was already in the hospital with complications from the kidney disease that took her life only two years later, at age 22. Thanks for bringing back the memories: they're what we have.

  • I Am 17 And I Sing These Songs To My Younger Brother So He Falls Asleep :D

  • Just creamed myself

  • Porque nunca le compraron un micrófono a Georbe...?

  • I was nine. My parents called us into the room to watch. My mom told us, "This is important. This group is going to change music forever." It was the only time I ever remember my mother making any kind of prediction like that. Looking back, I think of all the ways their musicianship, style, music and lyrics have done exactly that, and I wonder how people can come on here and argue about them being "just a pop group," and whether or not they could read music.

  • My wife just told me that she was about three inches away from the TV during this performance. She planned to marry Ringo, or maybe George if Ringo said no. I guess I became default option No. 3!!

  • It's true--We can't hear John, because a cleaning lady was dusting the mixing board AFTER

the levels were set, but before that show taping! She knocked all the sliders down. Idiotic, huh?

But still, the greatest night in Music History! I watched and have admired ever since!

  • what does paul say in the end? "Oh i love this american gum" or something else???

  • why can't I hear John's voice?

  • Why do and how can girl scream so loudly for so long?

  • I will never forget that historic night of 2-9-64,my sister & my female cousins watched the show together. I rember screaming & trying to kiss Paul on the telly. Love those Beatles, long live The Beatles & their music forever. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

    Cheers:

    Critty300

  • Everytime I see Paul, my brain just goes "EEEEEE PAUL I LOVE YOU!!!!!!! <3"

  • Looks great in 1080...

  • the way the girls scream is like hearing tormented souls XDDDDD

  • How these guys were so popular is beyond me.. Did you really look at ringo?? what a total geek!

  • @xvoy2002

    you twelve or something?

  • @mezzetin1 no,, actualy i'm a grown man,, thats why i can look at ringo,, and think,, wow,, he's a total geek.

  • @xvoy2002

so, being a grown man, does that mean you're immune to cool motherfuckers then?

i mean, i did'nt know a lad from the dingle could invent the bloody internet. that would definitely mark him as a geek, now would'nt it? boy, nancy reagan would certainly be proud of you.

  • @xvoy2002 You're a grown man who can't type properly. I notice that you have left comments on other Beatles videos, trying to insult Ringo. Sure he acted, goofy, but he was a funny guy and people liked him. As far as his drumming goes, it wasn't over the top, but it's not bad either. I don't really see what your problem is. Just being a troll?

  • @RedNudidity Oh, yeah,, the old 'typing thing'' as if it really matters that typos matter on the internet. (lame attack to be sure)

The truth is, if the Beatles had come out a year later, no one would have even heard of them. Even their producer Geroge Martin has said that.

They are just a pop band. Musically,, they are very low calibre.

  • @xvoy2002 idiot

  • @xvoy2002 Ever heard of "Abbey Road"? It's an album by The Beatles. You should check it out. Very high calibre.

  • @imagesilike Yes,, actually i have teh album. the truth is the album is only high quality because producer George Martin made it so. The Beatles themselves are not highly talented. They were fortunate enough to be surrouned by talented people. Paul McCartney cannot read music to this day.. Says alot about a 'musician'.

  • @xvoy2002 I'm not sure that it's all down to Martin, sure the producer has input, but not to the level you're implying. I also don't think that an ability to read music has anything to do with musical talent. It's merely a means of recording. If anything, the knowledge of chord structures and progressions can be a more limiting factor for a musician and often causes them to think "inside the box". We're all entitled to our opinions, but I don't think the "can't read music" argument is valid.

  • @xvoy2002 One does not need to read music to be a musician.

  • @xvoy2002 One of the a-team musicians in Nashville confessed to being able to read music, but quickly qualified it by stating that he didn't let it get in the way of his playin'!

There are many artist in every music genre whose musical innovations may have not developed if they could've read music..."Not a prerequisite for the job!"

  • @xvoy2002 Wow, you know exactly ZERO about musicianship. Macca is one of the most innovative bassists in rock. Lennon's rhythm playing is superlative, and George's solo and slide work grew to be extraordinarily evocative. Ringo is one of the most in-the-pocket drummers you can imagine. And the vocal work is simply unparalleled. All goes without saying to those who understand music, but ... for the love of god, don't betray your ignorance like this again.

  • @xvoy2002 As a matter of fact, it DOES matter on the internet! While the conveyance of your message may be just as easy to understand whether or not you spell right, it still says something about you as a person. It says that you don't care about looking intelligent. Funny, because you don't appear to be.

  • @xvoy2002 The Beatles sure were popular and changed the face of American music forever! Not a bad accomplishment for a "low caliper, pop band"!

  • My absolute favorite moment is at 9:15 - the respectable, bespectacled fully "adult" fellow in the back laughing his ASS off at all the girls freaking out.

  • at 3:26 they spell "GOD" wrong.

  • @mahavishnuxc

    No its George

  • @TheSidneyft sidney what are you doing on this beatles video HOW DARE YOU Watch at school mate

  • Notice how the camera focuses on Paul mainly? The cameramen were convinced that Paul was the front man.

  • Thank you very much for posting this.

John's microphone level was too low the entire time.

  • the video quality sucks. It looks like they have standard screen made wide screen.

  • ringo is so adorable, just rocking out in the background. ugh i love him

  • i love how the girls go insane every single time they breathe.

  • i like how in hard day's night they spend half of the movie talking about "no one cares about ringo" when at 3:55 you can clearly hear a group of girls shrieking his name at the top of their lungs XD ringo's awesome

  • no other band or artist to this day has caused such a craze among the fans.

  • I'm sure every sit in the audience except for the guys was wet after this performance.

  • I wish the girls would shut up, but good video

  • I know this will sound terribly crude and I hate myself for saying it, but without a doubt, when the Beatles BURST into She Loves, straight after Till There Was You,, every girl in that audience was, well..............you know.

  • 1:35 gives me the chills at the starting of the solo

  • " THIS SHOWS NOT MANY PEOPLE CAN REALLY SING ON THEIR ON "

  • Comment removed

  • When was this?

  • @24Swiffer "Their first appearance on February 9, 1964 is considered a milestone in American pop culture and the beginning of the British Invasion in music. The broadcast drew an estimated 73 million viewers, at the time a record for US television, and was characterized by an audience composed largely of screaming hysterical teenage girls in tears"

  • @cocodrile100 Thanks for the detailed information ^^

  • @cocodrile100 I was 10 and I saw this, no one who saw it will ever forget it.

  • the only thing I don't like is that John did not sing even ONE song

  • @damuni1 He sang lead along with Paul on She Loves You & I Want To Hold Your Hand.

  • I was born too late...

  • @MsGhoulScout so was I and lots of other people who now listen to crappy music

  • JOHN

    Sorry Girls He's Married:

    hahahah XD

  • tonight, you're going to be twice entertained by them

  • these youngsters from liverpool that call themselves "the beatles"

  • @kyuss Gee, who are they? I've ever heard of them.

  • I'm pretty sure some guys are screaming too.

  • ..Excellent and Thank You So Much!

  • Amazing.

  • GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE

  • I was 11 when I saw this. Everyone I knew and everyone they knew watched it.

  • Rare? Errr I have all of the Beatles performances on Ed Sullivan on a dvd that I bought at Barnes and Noble. I've seen that same dvd at Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and on Amazon. Seems like a cheap ploy to get more views and ratings.

  • Comment removed

  • all the screaming makes it sound like a jesus and mary chain concert...

  • How is this rare? How did it take you "weeks" to find it? It's available in a thousand varieties on YouTube alone, and certainly was before October of 2010.

  • this episode was viewed by 72 million people on television, im pretty sure its common

  • @RottenDC1 Exactly! I'm not sure why the uploader claims that this is "the rarest performance on the Ed Sullivan show," or that it took him "weeks to find."

Maybe to garner more hits? To earn ad revenues? Hmmm, Areosmith1000?

  • Excellent find! You don't mind if I cite this in my school project on the Beatles, do you? ...Well, too bad. I will anyway. :P

  • History in the making! Amazing!

  • These kids were the luckiest audience in the world.

  • rare?

  • @heyricky Yeah, it's SUPER rare, for those who don't know how to type "Beatles" into Google. It could take WEEKS to find it, if you're a blithering fool, which apparently the uploader is.

  • 1963

  • 0:37 - 0:48

    George is so cute!!!

  • What year was this?

  • Ladies and Gentlemen..THE BEATLES!!!!!

  • @AlmostHelpless i didnt see a difference

  • This isn't the full performance either..=/

  • they call themselves the beatles)))))))))))))))

  • @1983198328 reallly?! i had no clue, thanks for the infoooo.

  • @AlmostHelpless It doesn't change lol

  • Comment removed

  • How awesome is it to be a Grandparent and tell your grandchildren you were there at the ed sullivan theatre when it happened!

  • I'm THIRTEEN and I love The Beatles!!!!

    TAKE THAT me4ever22c !!!!

(duh. it doesnt matter what age you are, the fact still remains: The Beatles are the greatest rock band ever--- realizing that simply means you're NOT DEAF to good music... which is most of us here. No one needs special attention for being young, it just means that they've got their heads screwed on right.)

  • THE QUALLITY SUCKS

  • @Mr8bitgamer

You can watch it in 1080p if you want. :)

  • @woody558 yeah but its not great quallity even in 1080p

  • John and Paul are so handsome. I would've dated one of them if I was alive at that time.

  • @AlmostHelpless

Astonishing! You can actually discern a herpes sore on Paul's upper lip at around the 1:10 mark! (good comment...)

  • Ringo's face @02:05 resembles that of a dude that suddenly got sober after drinking a load of booze. xD

  • @SinisterKid187 LOL wtf

  • Paul is one of those performers who can play bass and sing simultaneously. A difficult thing to do since it needs vocal and hand coordination.

  • @RGN07 unfortunately, this means pete wentz is also a genius

  • @deckardisareplicant yeah, but he can barely sing, that's why the always back sing... besides, he is not that good on bass playing (im not saying im better)

  • scaling to 1080p doesn't make the video any better sir.

  • @CarlosJulio20 that would be the joke.

  • At least the beatles rock band got 1 song right for this venue, ya gotta admit that in that game minus the cavern, their studio years, & the apple corps rooftop, the other venues, they only had about 1-2 songs that were the right songs for the venue when they played there if I were able to, I'd have kept the songs to the right venue. Any way, they were great in the video

  • they are the buisness, a proper band, they are the 4 lads who shook the world. am trying to find yhe words, shit hot

  • After hearing the Beatles for the last 40 years, they SUCK!! BIGTIME!!

  • @escort500xlr Then why are you watching a video of them? Troll.

  • @escort500xlr Good for you, you have an opinion.

  • @escort500xlr its not only that but most of their fame was fabricated. even the owner of EMI say their ability to play music was limited and " a bad joke". mostly the drummer ringo.

  • I'm a guy, but I'd marry any of these 4 guys anyday

  • @afffred BIG FAGGOT!!!

  • 8:54 is so adorable!!

  • Outkast hey ya music video was based on this :D

THUMBS UP FOR AWSUM FACT :D

  • this was on a woodloch theme show.

  • He's mine, bitches

  • I am such a Paul fan girl :D

  • awesome beatles song + 1080p = fucking orgasm

  • This video alone made me want to be a musician. And now I'm saving up for a Country Gentleman just like George has here.

  • @PicciProductions man i did the same thing! when u get it, learn your d, a, and g chords and youll be playing twist and shout in no time :D good luck

  • @StaffSergeantPepper Thanks, but I already play. In fact, I bought an Epiphone Casino 8 months ago as well. But thanks :)

  • I remember this Show and that when The Beatles started singing, my Sister went nuts!

Yeah... the british invasion was sooo cool back then, and, yes, even the Guys thought They were cool!

  • John's microphone level is too low to have twin vocal well-mixed... I should have known better than the mixing engineer?

  • @takezo73 the beatles spent all day mixing to get all the sounds perfect. once they were done they went to lunch and the cleaning lady pushed all the levels down because she was dusting. so like ten minutes before the performance they tried to put all the knobs and levels back to where they thought they were as fast as possible.

  • @DaveFoleyMusic Ah... if that's true, she should have been complained by fab four and ended up with being sued... :(

  • @takezo73 haha yea well its okay she didnt know and they still sounded amazing either way!!

  • Shit just got real.

  • this was feb. 7 64 right

  • @chilibro No I'm pretty sure it was February 9th

  • If I was one of those fans I would jump over everything in my way and get down to that stage!! I LOVE THE BEATLES!! Is it weird to have fantasies about them?? Lol

  • George's solo is wonderful - so considered and so fucking brilliant.

  • My dad told me when the Beatles first got huge in America, his mom would always remark how "even the boys like them!" haha I think that's awesome. She had a point. Not many bands with such a female following and so many love songs can keep a strong male following. For some reason I never feel corny singing the words to any of their stuff

  • from Mexico, the beatles are the best rock band in the world and I think that this show make like a magical dream. In Mexico I saw this film in 1981 (I was born i 1971) on tv program called "studio 54" by Jaime Almeida. Today my childs (Faba and Pam) enjoy this music. They learn speak english with this songs. Thank you Beatles...and, I´m sorry girls, I´m married...

  • can barely hear John on iwthyh

  • Sorry girls He's married. LMFAO !!

  • louis tracol , un pas de danse enn espadrilles, je passe mon we à la ferme ,

  • The girl at 1:22 is the luckiest human in history.

  • Happy bday Paul! This is real music

  • i would turn gay for them!!

  • Copyright "in friction"? Really? Infringement.

  • wow 73 million viewers equivalent to 6 billion today

  • @LAPLEOPEREZ i doubt that 73 million people was the whole population of the world at that time :/

  • @ssssssssssssssssss50 it was said to have had 73 million viewers that episode which is equivalent to 6 billion today due to inflation of people

  • Oh wait! Sorry! Wrong video! My bad!

  • The Beatles didn't perform on 9/2/1964! They performed on The Ed Sullivan Show on 2/11/1964! Why are you making up the date in your video?

  • @austifornia dear aussy:

they landed in the u.s.a. on fri feb 7th and played on ed sullivan sun nite feb 9th. please get your facts straight.

p.s. is it true that there only 3 good things about australia:

    1. kangaroos

    2. foster's beer

    3. its so far away fr the u.s.a.

  • Girl at 5:26 look likes she's having an orgasm haha.

  • Lol i love the goofy lil headshake paul does when he sings

  • John "sorry girls, hes married" EPIC!

  • Am I the only kid in the world that listens to great music like the Beatles and not 50-Cent and JUstin Bieber. -_-

  • @dourmatproductions I'm too a kid like you!

  • @dourmatproductions The media want to make it seem you're alone, but I'm coming across more and more people like you. You are definitely NOT alone! I'm 35 and ADORE The Beatles (if you couldn't tell by the screen name, lol).

  • @yipeejc thanks! :) it's been six and a half months and going strong!

  • @yipeejc I know, crazy huh...I still would've wanted to live back then during the 1960s and 1970s. Btw, I'm a girl, and I told my boyfriend I would've been a flowerchild/hippie, etc. and he said, "I would've been too square for you then because while you were off partying and trying to change the world and cause chaos and be radical, I would try to make you stop but I still love you for being you! Eventually, I'd give up because you have to be you!" lol! thanks baby, I love you, too! :)

  • @yipeejc the ironic thing was that back then, my dad said that a lot of public schools had dress codes, and the rules stated that if you were a young man, you couldn't have your hair past your ears, e.g. like the Beatles, so a lot of guys my dad's age would get expelled or suspended because of the way their hair looked or because they dressed like the Beatles - think the later albums.

  • ...I came here because of the Foo Fighers show at Lettermans xD

  • those 2 poeple who disliked this vide are the stupidest people EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2 people weren't written home to everyday...

  • I barely remember the night I saw this performance, but now I notice how nervous George Harrison looks at the beginning. He was only 20 at the time.

  • I'm 14 and I love The Beatles more than any other musicians ever. Today's music is way too angry and fake. The music of the '60s was nice and real.

  • @me4ever22c you would fit in right at my school

  • @me4ever22c I regret that comment. Don't thumb it down, but don't get mad at me. I did that before realizing how retarded it was. Sorry folks!

  • @me4ever22c I was 12 when you posted this bitch. Trolololololol. But yes, most music today is shit

  • @me4ever22c I loved them in 8th grade. I'm 21 now and they still are my men of music.

  • @me4ever22c I'm a stillborn fetus and I don't care if you're 14.

  • @me4ever22c I'm 14 aswell and I love the Beatles more than anything else.

  • stupid girls
