Folks! This is what I called " Wow " ...................... This is Cameosis in their music with the title track " Soul Army ". This song is great back in the 70s. I believed all the old timers will aproved it. Enjoy, for tomorrow is time to work.
I love the fact that the ALLIGATOR WOMAN album took only three weeks to record, mix and master. The whole album sounds loose and spontaneous instead of labored and rehearsed.
Always did have a soft spot for Cameo...'Word Up' was my official intro to them (was around 5 or 6 when that monster single first dropped), but after doing some further diggin' I quickly found out they had shit even funkier than THAT!!! Now I honestly feel their '80-'82 period was their absolute peak in that sense. Glad they were able to get as much of those jams out as they could before the tail end of the '80s officially killed off the funk as we know it!!!
This track is by far my most fav cut on the "Alligator Woman" LP,'cos i played the shit out of it back then. And hearing it again after so many years(26 years)i am playing the shit out of it once again!Lol!
Orale Gene-O!! You made it to the youtube doggy....enjoy! Make sure to check out all the funky old school from my subscribers and people I subscribe to, some really good stuff bro!

The bass line resembles 1980 Fatback's "Backstrokin'". Anyway it's a great Cameo joint.

Cameo's take on Funkadelic's "Uncle Jam"...not a copy, but definitely inspired by it. "Alligator Woman" was a good album:
"Be Yourself", "Soul Army", "Flirt", "Secrets Of Time"....Cameo was on a roll during
this time!
