When I play bass I am always right to the left of the drummer (the hi-hat) so we can make connections and lead the whole band better. That's how it should be rather than having the bass on the far side.
@KappaEffect The reason you have the bass on the left side of the drummer is because the bass should always be next to the hi hat to hear the beats 2 and 4 and keep time. in this case the drummer is a lefty, therefore the bass player is still on the side of the hi hat but it looks funny to you.
we are playing this song for our high school jazz band. thanks for uploading this video so i can play my bass to it. its really slow during the practices so its great to play it at full speed at home!

Waaaay too much from the drums in the beggining and end (in my oppinion). And props to the beggining Sax and Trumpet solos! They were both tasty.
