Mercury Records office meeting, 1998: "So we made this backing track that sounds like EBTG's Missing on a budget of fifty quid, any ideas?" *Loudly snoring record company exec wakes with a start* "Zzzz... *yawn* Bryan Ferry!!... oh sorry, must have nodded off, where were we?" *Room falls silent, execs turn to each other and nod in union* "Brian, you've done it again."
i'm not normally a thumbs up begger type of person....but thumbs up of you can still remember some of the steps to this song on dance mat! lol
i was getting ready whilst listening to this and found myself moving from side to side @2:30! i you've got dancing stage and go on it regularly you'l know what i'm on about! ;) lol
I commented on this version before, and although I do like the Original, I still feel that Emmie's voice is more tranquil and "haunting", than the Original. Thankyou for posting.
@Cinaed42 Seriously? So much for originality. As if Roxy Music fans will agree. Listen to this again and then listen to the original and decide for yourself if they even compare.
classic late 90's dance...miss those days immensely...travelling back to my uni halls after a weekend back home..heard on this on the sunday chart show on radio walkman, great memories.
Once again a perfectly good song is made into shite. Why can't these new artists come up with their own material? Or at least produce something worthy of the original? The 80's being pillaged again. There is only one More than this..Watch ROXY MUSIC. Enough said.
found this song in less then 5 mins of my sister askin what song it was i used 2 blast, cudnt think of the title, and i thought she was called emily, ah the wonders of google and youtube, this song is gonna be blasted this summer again, a good tune like this never dies, and what the hell happened 2 her?? was she a one hit wonder or did she do other songs aswell.??
Everytime I hear this.. All I think of is the DANCE MAT on the playstation (1) HAHAH. When I was like 10. I was an 'expert' on dancing to this on the dance mat. Brings back memoriess x
when an artist makes a cover also takes a risk because WE WILL COMPARE,anyway most of the times i stay with the original, one exception comes to my mind right now how high the moon with lola albright.
As people have said, this is a product of its era, the 90s. For me it brings back very happy memories of a good time so I love it. For some the original by Bryan Ferry will bring back memories. I just think he mumbles it though, lol.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
When you put such a negative comment about a legendary, multi-million selling, critically acclaimed artist who is respected by his peers & industry execs, you should always add "in my opinion" at the end of your vile comments, which you are entitled to just like anybody else. I have to remind you that this song made No5 in the UK charts only because it was released post Christmas period when record sales are extremely low. Had it been released any other time of year it wouldn't have made Top20.
You people are all nuts.. this chick made a timeless classic tune sound like some cheap 90s techno that should be played in tanning salons. And you are all saying it's "the best version" and giving it 5 star ratings.
I thought i was you was not by Emmie, that's why you can't find it. She was a one hit wonder. The song you mentioned is by Sex-o-sonic and was a big dance smash and a No32 hit in 1997.
Are you crazy, this is fucking euro techno crap that guidos listen to while riding in their Mustangs. You're dreaming, pull your head out of your ass.
I think this version is the best by far, Never knew there were any other versions, Only knew about this song cos it was on the dance mat. Shows Emmie deserves more fame.
Would have been tough for Blondie to cover it in 1980 considering Roxy Music released it in 1982 (the Avalon LP). Blondie's cover came out in just the past two or three years. It's worth a listen, but too bad Blondie didn't reach back further into Roxy's earlier work...imagine Debbie Harry doing "Editions of You."
You'll get the CD single on ebay and loads of 2nd hand record shops in Soho, London or Vinyl Exchange in Manchester. She released this single in January 1999. Although it made No5 she was dropped by Mercury after it's release for several reasons. Previous to this she provided uncredited vocals to DJ Flava "Your Caress (all I need)" which made No19 in 1997. Following this she was a featured artist on a few other dance tracks & supported Ronan Keating on some UK gigs but had no more success.
absolute quality - brings me back to good times in the late 90's. not overplayed either so a freshness to this song!

This is a fantastic version. Emmie, wherever she may be these days, can be proud of her effort.
Very underrated but it's a beautiful track.
I don't mind the original Roxy Music version, but this remix and update was done with style and respect to the original.
I also have some fond memories of this period in my life. It was bitter sweet, I started a new career but shortly after, lost my beloved mother.
This track has all my memories encapsulated...there's nothing more than this!
