Just to set the record straight: Sylvia Miles is an Oscar WINNER. She WON Best Actress for Midnight Cowboy (1969). She was great as Meryl Streep's loud and obnoxious mother in She Devil.
This scene ends just before the best line in the movie: ex-husband "Give him your game show money!" Miles: "Game show money?? My game show money doesn't keep me in hair spray!"
@gvt2u ... The guy who played Sidney was terrific, too. "As long as you promise me that not one penny of my money - my MALIBU BEACH HOUSE MONEY - is spent on that - that Jockey!" or "Oh, she had a terrific body. Your mother had a terrific body. She still has...vestiges of it." To which Sylvia's character retorts silently, "You always were into bodies, Sidney. I could just never tell whether they were male or female." (paraphrasing! What a hoot!)
This movie is a raw pantheon of some of the most triumphantly vital comic performances in the history of cinema. Every character is an enigmatic standout.
@SuperiorArtCritic Glad to finally know I'm not the only one who apreciates this movie. Sylvia Miles was amazing. "Ever since you decided to become a lesbian!"
Sylvia Miles, a true star. I remember her in an episode of ,"Car 54, where are you? " We are taking untold decades ago, maybe late fifties, possibly early sixties.
She was fabulous...! But i must say, she rules in, "Heat". Love her!
I've never known of anyone other than myself who is a fan of "Heat." Always one of my favorite films ever in human history. Sylvia Miles is BRILLIANT!!
god i love this vid. one of the best dialogue pieces in the film. almost TOO juicy for words! and refreshing to have someone like Sylvia in the film, ie: someone who could actually 'act', who had some measure of technique, given the loose structure of the damn thing...yours....SweetieMe...
I want to thank Sylvia for keeping me sane while I went through drug detox. It was the only movie I played over and over again to forget my misery. That movie, Heat, is the funniest thing I've ever seen. 11 years sober now. Thank you Sylvia.
My weakness for older women began when i first saw Sylvia Miles in "Midnight Cowboy". I was 16 years old then, & i thought her the horniest looking woman i had ever seen. With a short skirt displaying her, slightly plump, but gorgeous tanned legs she was a massive turn-on for me. Even better were her beautiful tanned veiny feet, with toenails painted pink, & wearing fuck-me mules. Her legs & feet gave such a boner, that it was a film i will never forget.
I adore Sylvia... she was in my doc "Superstar in a Housedress" and I recently posted an outtake. She deserves an Oscar and should have won for Cass in "Midnight Cowboy"!
