the only thing that really prevents the fi line from being considered "sq" subs is that the lowend (30-45hz) output is to high for the "flat" response you would want for sq. not even saying they lack top end subbass the lowend is just so massive. don't get me wrong JL makes good products but they are only worth it if you buy them used for like half msrp. FYI there are higher end brands than jl. see audison,hertz, dynaudio,brax/helix, scan-speak not to mention hybrid audio

the people who think JL is the best must also think bose is the best for home. the w6v2 actually sounds better than the w7. the IDMAX i had sounded better and u could buy 2 of those cheaper than 1 w7 to more than makeup for the loss of ouput. and my current fully loaded BL will rape a w7 with no lube as far as spl goes. and Fyi when fi rates the bl for 1000wrms u can really run up to 1800 when its fully loaded. Fi is hand built in las vegas where is jl made at??

just gotta love JL subz I'm running 1 10" W3 in a bandpass box for my church sound system. lol it used to be in my van hooked up to a 1000w blakmaxx now its hooked up to an 400w peavey amp and still shakin thingz up!!!

@dwtnigg How am i dumb? The BL and BTL have the same cone, frame, suspension, and spider. The coil and the moter are the only difference, The BLs recone is cheaper and since im competing i blow my subs every now and then.

@ALTW7 yeah, i've owned a pair of w1's, a pair of w7 13.5's and i've had a JL 1000/1 amp. they are all very overpriced for the quality. i've found better sound quality and loudness from Alpine, American Bass, and FI audio. Right now i have one American bass XFL 15 on an American Bass 150.1 amp, and its cleaner and louder than the w7s on the 1000/1, and cost me $1000 less.

@ALTW7 JL is so expensive cuz its made in china or the phillipenes (forget which one, maybe both..), so when it gets here, they just try saying its top end. JL makes a well built sub, no doubt, and they look cool. but definitly overpriced. i used to think the same way as you, until i sold my ENTIRE JL setup for an American Bass setup, and i couldnt believe what i was hearing. My 2 W7s were hitting 144.9, and my single XFL 15 hits 149.7, and is definitly more responsive.

@ALTW7 you will in no way find a sub with the same sq as a jl sub's,,the people thattell you fi sounds the same as jl never had a jl audio sub in there life,,the only other sub that sound as good is the " critical mass ul " sub,i love to pound hard and sound good doing it with good sql,, fi,aq,dd and sundown will hit hard but can touch the "jl13w7" in sql,,Iits vary hard to find a sql and spl sub and jl has that and you always get what you pay for,,w7's are made from the skin of the gods !,,,,,

@ALTW7 yeah its always good to have a fresh alternator, mine is a 200amp. Doesn't necessarily have to be any big name brand. Also, for the FI BL's and BTL's, you can customize them, for SPL (competition) or daily use (sound quality). The subwoofer isnt what makes the bass sound good, it's the amp. so if you're really concerned about SQ, throw a BTL on a Alpine MRP-m2000. its 2000 watts RMS and just about the cleanest sound you can get, and its only $400 online!
