  • Hi Koren:) I was wondering if your 134 brush came from France? I had a problem with mine it & it was one of the ones made in france, and i've found that the other two brushes that i have also from France the Farrells aren't cramped as well, and the handle comes loose loose! I was wondering if you had that problem and if not if yours may have been manufactured in a different place???

  • OMG 62$ for that brush ughh!!!

  • do you recommend mac foundations? and Concealer im thinking about buying the mac studio fix and selct cover for Concealer i have uneven skintone and dark circles but im thinking about buying there products and can i use the 187??? for foundation?

  • I <3 mac 187

  • this guys is amzaing

  • this is really helpful, thanks a lot!!!!

  • I have just watched this and other brush videos. Am amazed at how many MAC brushes I do have, but more importantly now I know how to use them!! Thanks - you are fab!

  • I just got some brushes from mac the other day, and i think you did muuuuuch more better than the BA in Mac store!!

  • what is better? 109,187 or 188

    for liquid foundation and blush?

  • i have them all , and i must say that the 187 is more virsutal :p

  • The fan brush is also good for heavily pigmented blushes or bronzers that you cannot put on with a regular brush. The fan brush will distribute the color with a much lighter application. There are blushes that I own that I could not wear if it were not for the fan brush and I don't even think of putting bronzer on my fair skin without the fan brush.

  • CAn I use the 190 for applying liquid foundation, if I am looking for sheer to medium coverage?

  • Thanks ur sweet

  • This is very great video! Great Job :)! I learned so much and thanks for posting this up.

    Mayvelyn

  • hey Koren! which one's better the 136 or 150? i want to get an overall face brush that i can also use as a blush brush. Btw, great & very helpful tutorials! more power!

  • your videos are great... the best in its class in youtube!

  • what's the difference between 188 and 187.

Is 188 as good as 187?

    Thanks,

  • The 188 is smaller

and the 187 has better coverage (since it's a larger head)

  • You Are So FABULOUS! I LOVE Your Videos!

  • what do you think about the 138? im not sure if i need it or not

  • pass on that one. save the money on other more useful brushes. A friend got me a 138 last Christmas, and I have never used it...yet. And its almost christmas again.

  • hahah ok thanks for the info! :D

  • 0:07 cute face!

thanks this helped me a lot. =D

  • what would you recommend for mineralize skin finishes?

  • mineralized powder, for the most part, have all-natural ingredients, like mineral rocks that are powdered. Normal powders have synthetics, silicones, and other various lab-produced ingredients and colorants.

  • is the fan brush also good for highlighting the cheeckbone and etc?

  • yes, ive used that many times to highlight the cheekbones.

  • hey, i was just wondering, which brush is which out of the 192 & 194, you said the 194 was a concealer brush at first, then said u used a 194 as a creme blush brush, which you then changed to 192, then after in your overview you said the concealing brush was 192...??

    Anthea

  • yeah I meant the 192 is the creamblush brush, and the 194 is the concealer brush. I thought i corrected that in the More Info section.

  • ok thankyouuu!

all your videos are great btw!

i was going to come to harrods when you were in london but the train times got all messed up! eek!

hope u had a great time in england!!!

    Anthea x

  • ooohhh koren came to london?? i love his videos...such a genuine person...koren when r u comeing to london again?@DancingSparkle

  • oh my god... its not a little help.. its obiously a very BIG help! u explained it very clearly and it helps so much.. and by the way, which one would u recommend, mac 109 or 190 for cream foundation? i need full coverage since i got alot of scars to cover.. thanks alot!!

  • if you need full coverage with your foundation, then use the 190 brush.

  • Hi, how often do you recommend washing foundation brushes(mac 190) and an all over face brush (mac 134)?

  • if you use daily, do a quick-clean every other day. And do a deep-clean once a week.

  • Okay, thanks!

  • you didn't review the #180. what's the difference between that and the 182?

  • hey riley - its in a different video. Its called Domed vs Flat-Top Kabuki. go watch it if you havent done so. I hope that helps :)

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • thank u :)

  • Hi, i never hear anything about the 191! Is that brush any good

  • 191 is that straight edge large flat brush - not quite popular as the straight edge leaves a sharp edges to foundation when its applied to the face. However its great for doing body painting and face painting that requires sharp edges.

  • THANK YOU!!

  • THANK YOU!:]

  • hey enkore i have a big problem i got the 129 brush and took ur tip of washing it with warm water and a little soap..and i did but now my brush is totally ruined its big a fluffy and not like the way it i got when it was thinner and better for highlighting..what should i do?

  • hey vicksterr - try rinsing it again throughly, and dont fluff the bristles. Just lay flat to dry, dont use a hairdryer or anything. Once dry just sweep it a couple time on your clean finger. Sometimes face brushes do fluff after the first wash cuz all that starch coating gets washed off.

  • Hi there I had a question about 2 face brushes...I really want to buy them but i can't decide between the 150 or the 134...

I want to use it to apply my powder foundation or to set my make up when i use liquid foundation....also you told that the 134 is great for msf! My first choice would be the 134...but i don't know for sure...

What do you think is a better brush the 150 or the 134?

    CiaoOo Marieke

  • hi Marieke - youdefinitely want the 134 if youre using it for powder foundation. 134 is denser and therefore will give you more coverage when applying the powder, and at the same time it is also a great brush for dusting and setting powder for your foundation.

  • Thank you so much for your reply!!!

I'm totally going to get the #134 now!!!

    CiaoOo Marieke

  • the first brush u mention as 194 then a bit later on u say 192 - which one is it? btw luv your videos!

  • yeah its a 192 :)

  • WOW, you are so informative, thank you so much for making a video like this I really appreciate it and now i know exactly what I want to get :)

  • thank you enkore muahhh.....

  • I use the 180 brush to blend my blushes and take off excess powder or blush. I also use my 187 with my mineralize skinfinish natural. Should I be using my 180 on my msf instead of my 187?

  • hey btaskey - the 180 is denser and such a great buffer/kabuki brush. If you are using your MSF Nat as a foundation then 180 would be better, if you just want to add warmth to your skin, 187 is good for that. You can also use the 187on your blushes for a more subtle effect.

  • hi, i was wondering if you could help...

I'm currently using mac studio fix fluid (skin is combination of dry and oily - find it works quite well for me) using 190 brush - after watching your video would the 187 brush be more suitable? also, on top of my foundation i apply mac minerize skinfinish all over and am in need of a new brush, i was contemplating 134, 136 or 150? not sure which one or if any of those would be suitable?

    love your videos! thank you!

    Kx

  • hi Kx - 187 is definitely more suitable for fluids. It will give your foundation a more airbrushed finish. For your MSF, if youre just using it as a set powder, 134 is great! if you're using it as a foundation and need to buff it in to your skin, 182 buffer brush is perfect for that.

  • Well I wrote down every brush number and the uses. Thanks

  • Hey! I love your videos, they're the best MU tutorials on Youtube... I am wondering what you think about the 138 brush that came out with sculpt and shape... It seems like a good versatile brush that can do contour, blush, and powder.. maybe bronzer! It's expensive though, so I'm wondering if you have tried it. :) ty!

  • Yes - I was excited when it came out with the Duos - and quite disappointed at the same time, as I find less use for it. Its too big to contour the face, and too tapered to use as blush and powder brush. However, its amazing for larger areas like doing body painting.

  • Not sure if my comment posted? I bought the 134 instead. I can only afford one expensive brush like that at a time. After seeing your video I could NOT resist! It's so soft and fluffy and I just want to rub it on my face every time I walk past heehee. I have been trying it for all my powder products, including blush. I was shocked that it worked so well because it's huge.. Have you tried it for blushers and bronzing? Ty for your great recs and prompt responses to posts.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 134! And its great for Mineralized Skin Finishes! Love it. Glad you love it too.

  • Hey - I purchased the studio fix powder last week and the MAC girl gave me a 129 brush to apply it - do you think this is ok? I am applying right on top of my moisturizer... would appreciate any feedback!!

  • hey NZgal - sure, the 129 can be used to apply Fix Powder, and its a great blush brush as well. Make sure to wait 15mins after applying moisturizer before foundation. So that way your skin will have the chance to absorb. Otherwise the powder will absorb it before your skin does.

  • Thanks!! My skin is normal to dry so the girl who sold me the studiofix (powder) told me to apply it right on top of moisturizer - I'm trying out the moisturelush...

  • oooh you'll ove moisturelush!! expensive, but good.

  • For the first brush in this video, the first time you say its number you say 194! I think that's a mistake? :P

  • yep - it was in the thread. The brush is 192 and I did say 194. SO - its actually a 192.

  • Oh sorry about that! I should've read the comments before saying that!

Your videos are great and very helpful!

  • Hey Enkore, is the 180 brush simliar to the 182. I cant wear studio fix because im lazy and i dont use makeup remover all the time, so i break out. Recently i've been using powder mineral foundation and i was just wondering which one you reccomend :)

  • hey gb - definitely check out 182. Its softer to the skin, yet dense enough as a buffer brush. 180 is a great kabuki brush specially if you apply makeup on neck and decolette.

  • YOU ARE SO AMAZING!

i need to buy a brush kit, and i had NO clue which to buy! because my makeup school doesnt really have a set kit from mac, so i made pages and pages of notes from all your videos plan to pick up my brush kit tomorow! thanks alot!!!:)

  • hey Enkore! i just wanted to know whether the new 169 angled brush is better than the 168 as I was going to get one but wasn't sure which?

  • the new 169 is stiffer, so it applies more color and/or product. The 168 is softer. So if you like soft bristles, go for the 168.

  • thanku so much for the super quick response! i am purchasing online now, yaaay! love your vids!!

  • thank you so much koren, u really solved my problems:) now i know which brushes i should get!

  • Another great vid :) I'm learning so much from you!

  • Thank you so much for all that you do with these tutorials!! You're an absolute sweetie and I adore watching your videos...(thank you Amy for your mentions of Enkore - which is how I found you!) Being the makeup lover that I am (still at 45, if not even moreso at 45!). Keep up the great work!! Love ya.

  • Awesome videos! I just had a question about the 182 buffer brush. Apart from using it with mineralized powder, what else can I use it for? Keep up the good work! Thanks!

  • any face powder really - setting powder, blotting powder, compacts, bronzers, sheer pigment finishers, etc.

  • Thanks for the reply! =)

I was also wondering if you knew of the cosmetic company called Inglot. They're a European company and look similar to MAC. I'm a MAC fan myself however Inglot is a bit cheaper... Have you ever used their products? Do you have any thoughts or advice about them? Thanks again!!! You're awesome!

  • oooh! I will have tocheck them out! Thanks for the info.

  • Hello Enkore!I have a question about brushes.

How often do i have to clean the brushes?

I use the MAC brush cleanser, but for those face brushes need a big amount of the cleanser. so i clean them up once a week cause i wear makeup like 2 or 3 days a week..

Should i clean them every time i use the brushes?

  • hey chantel - ideally a quick cleanse is ideal every time you use. But, you can do it twice a week if you dont use every day. Then do a deep clean once a week or every 2 weeks. Use a spray bottle for the big brushes so it doesnt soak all the cleansers.

  • Hi EnKore, well.... I think I should just point this out.... in your video brushes part 1 you said the concealer brush is 194 (and it is), and then in this video you said 192. I think the correct label is 194. Excellent tutorial, I learnt a lot and now I know what I want to buy! MAC should really pay you for this!!! hehehehe. Keep up the good job, your videos are REALLY amazing and educational. YOU RULE! :D (yeah, I am your fan, hehehe)

  • awe youre sweet - I had to watch both videos, and yeah 194 is the concealer brush I mentioned in part one, and in part 2, I did feature the 192 which is bigger filbert brush, great for creamblushes and such.

  • Ooops.... I apologyze for my mistake, jejejeje, sorry to bother you with it. I will buy both of them then, the 192 and the 194 :D. Hopefully, I will look half as pretty as you do (EnKorinne). :) Thank you for your AWESOOOOOME videos! :D Kisses from Mexico!

  • Hi,Enkore, anther useful, informative video! Thank you.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, EnCore! I hoped to see some advices to use 180 and the 191.

Today a received the 191 and I am not sure, if there are any tricks for it. Do you maybe know a difference to the 190 foundation brush?

And the 180-I purchased it a while ago, because I hoped it would be THE solution for mineral MU, but it´s TOO much hair. It makes a MMU-mask. So I use it for buffer blushes into my complexion. But it seems, this is a bit waste for such a cute brush. Do you have any tricks for me?

  • hey Magi - 180 is the face/body biffer-kabuki brush. It is great for applying mineralized powder much like any other kabuki brushes. 191 brush is the straight-edge paint looking brush, you can use it for foundation but unlike the 190 filbert cut, you will get straight edges.

  • Hi Koren, I love your videos!

    I have a question...how do I use a fan brush?

  • Hi Koren,

Yes, could you please show us how you would you a fan brush? Thank you

  • You use a fan brush to dust off pigments/eyesahadows cast offs and glitters that drops on your undereye. Other than that, nothing really much of a use for it.

  • You use a fan brush to dust off pigments/eyesahadows cast offs and glitters that drops on your undereye. Other than that, nothing really much of a use for it.

  • Can't wait for the video on eye brushes

    Thanks Enkore! <3

  • Thank you for both of your brush videos, actually for ALL of your videos. I don't know how to show how grateful I am for the effort and time you place in your videos. I love them all. Truly appreciated and many thanks xox

  • yay for brushes =D

  • A faithful viewer of your videos returns!! Love this video...it really helps me decide what I really need in terms of brushes. Thanks and keep 'em coming. You are awesome in every way!

  • wht brush is good for bronzin?

can you use the one 150 as well?

    thanks sweety :)

  • bronzers, believe it or not, I love using my 129 blush brush. 182 buffer is good too and the 134 is great as well.

  • hi, can i use the 136 to apply powder foundation because i only use powder foundation , i just got one for super super great deal on ebay , please let me know, thanks

  • hey besma, if you dont mind the wide bristle, sure! I have used my 136 for foundations. Buts its best to use in set powders. You will probably find the 190 best for powder foundations.

  • Great tutorial Koren. Your videos are like an encyclopedia of beauty. This vid was extremely helpful, as I am always confused about brushes and now I learnt a lot more about them. Thanks!

  • HI Encore. I have a video request or just a reply is fine. I use gel liners and paint pots alot and they start drying out really fast. I never get to finish out the jar because it gets to hard over time. do you know of a way to rehidrate the gels? I know keeping the lid on tight keeps it from evaporating but over time it still gets dried out. thanks!! love your videos!!

  • hi macbella - get a bottle of glycerin from you local drugstore and try to emulsify the gels back toits original consistency. I recommend picking up tester jars to put a little at a time so that your main bottles dont dry up.

  • I liked this video a lot and you show how to use the brush too. Thanks!

  • omg thank you so much for this video. it helped a LOT! :D

  • you're always great. I've just bought some face SE brushes.

I already have a full size 187 brush. It works well, but it's not so easy to pick up the right amount of powder. I use msf in medium dark. Do you think 182 brush could be better for it?

    thanks a lot

  • hey aldoma - if youre using MSF, i highly recommend 182, or the newly released 183!

  • Koren, great video, thanks! What is the difference between the 150, and the 136?

  • 150 is morerounded domesahped, and 136 is more flat. i finf 150 more fluffy too.

  • Thank you!

  • welcome -- sorry, my keyboard has been funky. Im taking to service and see whats wrong with this. But you got the message, yeah?

  • What would you recommend I use to clean my brushes. I was told a mild shampoo would do. Is that correct.

  • baby shampoo will do the job for yeah! and dry your brushes flat! hope that helped! ;)

  • baby shampoo works - I also have a video on cleaning brushes, as well as homemade brush cleanser. Watch that and I hope it helps.

  • Why is that $62 brush so expensive if there are other brushes that are bigger and fluffier?

  • okay???

  • hehe i commented too early in Part 1 of your video... but now it just seem that there is such a BIG range of brushes.. i don't know which one to get anymore... #134 seems ideal but so expensive!!! =(

  • hey gaybimbo - are you looking for a plain powder brush? 150 is probably what you need.

  • Hmm i need something that i can apply powder foundation. So i need to apply and buff. #150 sounds like a brush for translucent powder? Soooo confused!

  • hey gaybimbo - ok I see, then you need the 182 buffer brush, or the NEW 183 kabuki brush. Both will work with powder foundations. You might want to look at the Kabuki brushes sold at Sephora, price are cheaper than MAC.

  • Excellent! Thanks for your suggestion! =)

Love all your videos too! Keep them coming!

  • Thanx for a very educating tutorial.

    /Annica in Sweden

  • Hey your videos are wikied.. really useful cause im going to do a beauty course next year.. but i was wondering how often should i wash my brushes??

  • do a quick cleaning every use, and deep cleaning once a week. I have a video on cleaning brushes. Watch it if you can.

  • *\(^o^)/* YAY Enkore! *\(^o^)/*

  • i'm such a fan

  • i hope you'd also be featured in oprah. you have the talent and the heart for this! mach's gut! mabuhay ka!

  • love u Enkore!
