Also, I would suggest at least 2-3 inches of fabric lining the kiln, because otherwise it wont get as hot as you may want it. Some cones to see what temperature your getting would be really helpful.
Make sure you find someone who knows a thing or two about ceramics to help you along the way, because it can get pretty dangerous if you don't know what your doing. At least have someone with you while firing to help you with the smoldering and quenching.
I winged it. I got a trashcan, high temp fiber, made ceramic buttons that can be pushed into the fiber with holes on the tips, drilled holes in the trashcan, and strung the wire holding the fabric up. In addition to that I got a venturi burner, a propane tank, a regulator, and a hose to connect them all. You might also want to weld a little stand or buy one for the burner to sit outside the kiln
