I love that when the BBC accidentally manage to commission something GOOD, they bury it at the middle of the fucking night on a subscription only channel. This deserved a far wider audience than it got.
I really wish Monkey Dust was still on. I would have LOVED to have seen their take on Jade Goody being changed overnight from national hate figure to the patron saint of cervical cancer.
Haha, in the DVD commentary they say that the producers thought having him be a teacher was "too offensive" and that they should make him a family doctor instead... which of course bears no resemblance to anything in real life.
@DjGizzo Yeah its wierd, Iv never tried to delude myself that I gave a shit, but I still learnt how to spell her name - so without trying nearly as much as you I still care more.
It's amazing how they were right on the money about Barry George and how the police collected their evidence. Pretty astute and quite brave considering how just about everybody was convinced he'd killed Jill Dando.
Shame there wasn't space to post the last part of the Daisy Harris series - 'Gary Nutall wept uncontrollably as the verdict was read out, a far cry from the cocksure, arrogant man who wept uncontrollably at the beginning of the trial'
Maybe they did. It was a fairly popular program. I see a load of stuff of TV and in the media that remind me of seeing my mother waste away until she was something like out of Buchenwald. Thats just tough...dosn't mean I have to like it. It was cancer by the way
"...It was my idea to invite Atomic Kitten on account of their altogether more wholesome image...erm... young... clean living... YET TO BE DISPOILED!!!!" LOL surprised this didn't get banned, he's obviously meant to be Harold Shipman. Just like Ivan is meant to be Stephan Downing
Not Shipman, no. Think of another case on the south coast with a foster father who was a teacher accused of killing his teenage foster daughter. Perhaps not wise to actually say the name, as he was later found not guilty, but the parallels are deliberate.
Brilliant to see them all in one video. Monkey Dust was probably one of the most accurate and darkly hilarious programs ever broadcast, it's a pity is wasn't seen by many people.
HA!.. the "every black guy" sketch artist drawing is apparently transcontinental.. So long as I remain one of the few black guys in America not in prison or jail, or under arrest or state supervision, I find this hilarious.

This is partially based on the Sion Jenkins case, with elements of R v Barry George.

I remember watching this show when it was first on bbc3. I was 15 and though "Oh yes bbc3 is a great, edgy new channel"....how wrong I was

I wonder what Monkey Dust would make of the bunch of "Trial by Daily Mail reading bigots" we've had recently?

Good thing for the consumption then. Even if he probably was as hot as Ben Whishaw in Bright Star.
Monkey Dust scoops up all that is foul, plops it in a petri dish, and sticks it under the microscope, and makes us laugh. Even if it's horrifying.
