im sorry, but these guys BUTCHERED this song. the "near, far, wherever you are" part is EPIC in the original but the changed up the chord progression AND on top of that the vocal melodies... i know they probably wanted to make it "their own" but cmon, they missed out on recreating the epicness with a punk twist.

Apparently, the singer effortlessly reached the "i FEEL you" note, but the "wherEVER" one which is 2 notes higher was that much of a challenge they couldn't help but change it the way they did? Doesn't seem very probable. Besides, if they really wanted to sing it the original way, but couldn't because it was too high for them, they could as well have adapted the pitch of the entire song to match their vocal range.

I have never said these notes did not make a change at all, i said I found it improbable that he could hit that one note with apparent ease and then not be able at all to reach the one 2 notes higher (yes, i *have* tried it).

what i love about new found glory is how they clearly say their pop punk with no shame. Most pop punk bands now days that are "pop rock" or "punk rock", just move forward thinking their that type of music. But New Found Glory embraces the pop punk genre and makes it a supereior one :)
I certainly agree. Most of the original Pop Punk bands (the ones with the original old school sound) have broken off from their old sound and have changed. Here are some examples. Sum 41: They've changed into an Alternative Rock/Proper Punk Rock band. Blink 182: They've also changed into an Alternative Rock band but have pretty much broken off from their old Pop Punk/Punk Rock sound altogether. They've sacraficed it for an Experimental Rock sound.
Green Day: They've gone completely "Punk Rock Political" now but still have some Pop Punk sound in their music. The Offspring: They're also heading in an Alternative Rock direction and losing their Punk Rock/Pop Punk sound. Good Charlotte: They're on a hiatus at the minute and, sadly, I don't think they're coming back. The only original Pop Punk bands that still have their original sound are New Found Glory and Simple Plan. Newer Pop Punk isn't as good.
Newer Pop Punk bands are either fusing Pop Punk with Emo or they're fusing it with Pop Rock and as a result a really Poppy sound is formed. Here are some examples. Boys Like Girls: Emo/Pop Punk. His voice is terrible. He sounds like a tone-deaf 14 year old.
The tune isn't perfect. It's bad. He's managed to turn a song into a continous, monotonous rant. He's pretty much just speaking into the microphone with no emotion while instruments play the same horrible melody over and over.
