I think Heston is loony on this issue, but Michael Moore edits this to make Heston look like a racist and a buffoon. Actually, Charleton Heston was an early supporter of civil rights for African Americans.
I agree with the 2nd ammendment and everything. But it's still cold hearted for Charleton Heston to show up and do a pro gun rally in these cities where kids were just killed by guns in Littleton Colorado and Flint MIchigan. Marilyn Manson even cancelled his colorado concert out of respect for the Columbine Masacre and all he's doing is performing music.
@IZn0g0uDatAll People in the NRA aren't who you should be worried about, it's the people who own firearms who aren't in the NRA. If everyone was a member of and followed the rules and regulations of the NRA the would be no gun violence in this country. That's what the NRA is for.
Moore u could never be the man Heston was...you can make as many documentaries as you want, you can kick, cry and throw tantrums but ull always be that fat bitter piece of shit in the back of the classroom wishing he had a piece of the action.
Pathetic, Mr. Moore. It is never the gun's fault. It is about personal responsibility. You people are so willing to relieve yourself of responsibility. It is your choice to do ether bad or good. If the owner of that weapon took the responsibility of that gun that was used to kill that little girl, she would've been alive. That responsibility also transcends the ownership of that weapon. It's up to the parent to teach responsibility & what is right & wrong. It starts & ends with you, not the gun
Why is so little said about the fake scene at the 7 minute mark? The scene where he shows him the picture of the girl and he seems to walk away is very clearly staged, seeing as the reverse shot of Michael shows no camera behind him.
@TheAmazingDaveFace can we get someone to stage an interview with moore, ask him if that scene was editted, and then show him on live television lying'? it would be amazing.
Bro what the fuck man, Heston went to these places after these shootings, why the fuck would one host a gun rally after a school just got the shit shot out of it, or after a little girl was shot and killed! Call it insensitive not poor Heston. Neurotic people + guns= BAD.
Michael Moore should be not have been allowed to do this....Mr. Heston is a great American...who was suffering from Alzheimer's! I feel so sorry for Mr. Heston!
@monakayk, To be fair to Moore, he didn’t know that Heston had Alzheimer’s. HESTON didn’t know that Heston had Alzheimer’s. Heston’s DOCTOR(s) didn’t know that Heston had Alzheimer’s. It wasn’t even diagnosed for another year after this interview.
That said, what Moore did here is truly shameful. Read my other comments in this thread for more details.
What most people - including Michael Moore - fail to see is that guns account for less than 5% of homicides around the world. We may as well put registry laws on baseball bats, and household chemicals too. The Right to Bear Arms is part of the American Constitution. It's there to protect it's people. Columbine could happen once a month and the carnage would be spit in the sea compared to the atrocities commited by governments and the Gun Registry laws. Ask Mao Tse Tung if you don't believe me.
if you believe in the whole reptilian conspiracy theory, Heston is obviously extremely nervous and wound up here. I see some instances of possible shape shifting when watching this part of the dvd (the quality of this video is not good enough to distinguish it here). Watch his hands turn green and his lower teeth sharpen. Not to mention the aforementioned high levels of editing. Oh, and how he left the interview seemed logical in context, but also could have been to avoid camera exposure tothis
I'm sure Hestons logic was "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it" which is the best logic to have. Moore is hostile and aggressive here, no need for that when Heston was being pleasant and open minded.
@7:35 nice camera manipulation. if that was all one shot where the camera man in both shots of karl marx from the front and rear. theres no telling what you had shown or said to him when he turned and walked away. by the way your facts about gun violence are "true" but only half truth. gun violence will go down a good ways with no guns around for petty assholes, but the violence with non firearms murders skyrocketed when "great" britain banned firearm. and theres still some out there.
Carrying guns has a relationship to gun crime. Is this such an unusual point to make? I'm British and I certainly don't want everyone carrying guns here because obviously there would be higher gun killings like there are in the states.
If what he says is bullshit, why do you all wanna kill Jullian Assange for showing the world many secrets of your government? Only someone who has something to hide would do so. And framing him for rape is as low as it gets. So congratulations idiots, very subtle of you.
@reset515, I asked you a week later to back up your claim. Now it’s NINE MONTHS later. A whole new HUMAN BEING can be conceived and born in that amount of time!
Back up your claim NOW, or publicly admit that you cannot.
@izzy9j, Read my Reply to @dbchf. I think you’ll find it interesting.
Basically, dbchf proved himself to be a BALD-FACED •LIAR• with that post to you. No WONDER he sees nothing wrong with his hero Moore’s tactics — he sees nothing wrong with using such tactics HIMSELF!
@dfbhcf, (cont.) Now, why did Moore want to become NRA President? On his website he claims it was so he could return the NRA into being a gun safety organization instead of a gun-rights lobbying organization, but in his own journal he had a more ulterior motive:
He wanted to DISBAND the NRA from within!!
THAT was the NRA Membership card that, as you yourself pointed out, Moore showed Heston at 01:59 in this video.
@dfbhcf, Yes, Moore is a Life Member of the NRA, but WHY is he one? He won a membership as a youth, but it wasn’t a LIFE Membership. He got that later. Do you know why?
From his own admission on his own website, and also from the words which you can hear his own interns say on the Audio Commentary track of the DVD right at the point where THIS video starts (Moore at Heston’s gate), he did so because only a LIFE Member can run for NRA President. Moore wanted to be NRA President HIMSELF.
@dfbhcf, (cont.) The two applause segments of the two different speeches were merged together in editing using a very specific technique known as “zero-crossing cross-fading.” This is ONLY done when trying to HIDE an audio edit point.
A BLIND person, or anyone not looking at the screen, would have NO WAY of knowing that those were two different speeches.
He did the SAME THING THROUGHOUT the Denver speech, too, as he CUT OUT all the positive things Heston said (and there were many).
@dfbhcf: “Moore made no implication that the two speeches were together. The ‘from my cold dead hands’ was just a way of introducing Heston into the movie. No one said those two speeches were together, and even if you thought that, Moore certainly didn't say that.”
No, he just played the clip until the applause, then dissolved away to an exterior scene and did his voice-over with audio of applause continuing, then dissolved to the Denver speech with applause continuing.
@4295eye, “He came because emotionally erratic ppl like you, are looking for someone and something to blame.”
Actually, not even that. Heston did not come to Flint AT ALL for ANY reason in the immediate aftermath of Kayla’s tragic death, nor indeed for quite some time thereafter — almost ¾ of a YEAR later. And when he DID come, it was NOT for any reason having to do with her death. He apparently didn’t even KNOW about it.
He came as part of a campaign tour for the 2000 Bush campaign.
@nataliemillerxo, (cont.) #1, Heston didn’t come to Flint right after the tragedy. He came there EIGHT MONTHS LATER (NOT 48 hours as Moore made you think) for a DIFFERENT REASON ENTIRELY that had NOTHING TO DO with Kayla’s death.
#2, Heston didn’t look at Kayla’s photo because MOORE NEVER SHOWED IT TO HIM! He only made it LOOK like he did through clever A-B-roll editing AFTER the fact, as I PROVE RIGHT FROM THIS VIDEO. Read my other comments in this thread.
@nataliemillerxo: “seriously who comes to a school or any place after it's JUST HAD such a huge tragedy like these schools, [Heston]'s coming after these tragedies, It's sick. He wouldn't even LOOK at that young girl's picture!! She was only 6 years old. Everybody has the right to live! I Wanna know what he done with that picture! Cause he fucking better of taken a good look atleast, Show some respect for god sake!!”
#1, Heston didn’t come to Flint right after the tragedy.
@Mytholgylove: “I've never heard of anybody going on mass killings with cow $h!t”
Really? You’ve never heard of Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing? Prior to 9/11, it was the worst mass murder on U.S. soil in all of U.S. history. He used a bomb made of fertilizer (basically synthetic “cow $h!t”) in a panel van. Not a single gun. Not a single bullet. He killed HUNDREDS that day, including over a dozen LITTLE children in the office building day care.
"I left The Heston Estate a-top Beverly Hills and walked back into the real world..."...YEAH RIGHT. I bet you had your Limo drive you to the gates and back to your mansion .Very Real.
I'm a big fan of Charleton Heston's movies, and I also like Michael Moore (even though I'm on the left wing, I much prefer Noam Chomsky to Moore), but I think he's wrong on the gun issue. Lastly, Charleton Heston FTW
@donvizz7th I dont care for MM since he obviously skews his content toward his agenda (as documented even by the guys from South Park)...but to put MM and Chomsky in the same sentence is ridiculous. Don't mean that as an insult, but MM is a socialist and NC is an anarchist. Big difference.
Heston in his sixties would of pulverized this guy. Sure, Charlton Heston was occasionally a dick, but atleast he did service in WWII....and he actually made some popular films. Moore is a complete libtard who deserves to be shot at by a rifle.
@KOPunchopenarena Thank you for summing up what the kind of people this movie is about. You've done your country proud. Feel free to wrap yourself up in an American Flag and hug yourself.
@TheAndyman1000 No. Thank YOU for summing up what this movie about: The lengths that holier-than-thou liberals would go through to enforce their played out agenda to others.
@KOPunchopenarena I don't even like Liberals or Republicans I just wanted to point out that you aren't helping the cause for the freedom of responsible gun use. I don't think either party has a very good stance on this debate seeing as how Democrats would like to just take the easy way out and limit it to the point of taking away it's peoples freedom, and Republicans are filled with the likes of obnoxious people like you who do more harm for their cause then good.
As Charlton Heston walks away from Michael Moore in the final interview, the scene cuts repeatedly between Hesto nand Moore holding a photo of the slain Flint, Michigan girl and asking Heston to look at it. When the POV is of Moore holding the photo, there is clearly no cameraman anywhere behind him. The same with the POV of Heston, there is clearly no cameraman anywhere in front of Moore. So the two POVs were not filmed simultaneously as the film implies.
Im an Australian, sometime about 20 years ago or so, the government made it illegal for the people to own guns thinking that it would reduce crime. As soon as this happened crime in the state of Victoria went UP by 400% this is because all the dishonest criminals who didnt turn there guns in knew that everyone else was undefended which made it easier to rob and kill innocents.
@andyandcarl I also called him a prick, a psychopath, and using bully tactics, you illiterate. I don't care how much of an ass you think someone is, or if they really are an ass, you don't go into that person's home to attempt to embarrass that person. It makes you more of an ass than you claim that person to be.
I am saying that the problem was that our government promoted criminal activity with prohibition. They made liquor less safe and crime more prevalent. Drive by shootings are done by gang members with illegals guns, they obtained with drug money. Take away their drug money you solve the problem.
@zoulkyud Best way to solve the problem is to shoot anyone in a gang on sight, and shoot anyone dealing drugs on sight, simple fix is always the best one.
Tremendous amount of work you've blown here, and Moore can exaggerate, so I'll accept your word. Fact is, America has too many gun deaths because it's a proto-fascist christian empire with assholes who peddle guns without morals.
USDeath also peddles weapons/gas/riot gear all over the world to murderous dictators, from Marcos to Saddam. Moore is a flimmaker and his is a minor point compared to the other ones involving this violent gun nation. Write another novel, don't care, wont respond.
@TheRealCritique <<<< A cheeky ID posting equally cheeky replies.
COMALiteJ's posts adheres to logic, facts and maturity, attributes found nowhere in your posts. COMALiteJ's uses the space as he does due to the limited space to pen his intelligent arguments and thoughts, two more attributes your thoughts lack. In your posts you would not only like to silent our 2nd amendment. In an earlier post it seems you'd like to regulate the 1st as well. What others are there that offend you?
@TheRealCritique Since there's nothing to fear from law abiding citizens, it's not firearms you need fear, it's the criminal and unstable. Law abiding citizens owning firearms vastly outnumber criminal and unstable which has had a direct & positive effect on the amount of violent crime. We always will. To have an even greater effect on that crime rate, stop adding yet more laws to the already overburdening 20,000++ firearm laws on the books, enforce and prosecute the laws we already have
@AHGlasher That would be fine, except with Republicans cutting budgets. Actually, at this point, I think the public is going to need all the guns it can get to fight the government, because republican and democrat are out fot their rich friends and that's it. Democracy is hanging by a thread, and a horde of these jackboot thugs are going to come after all citizens thinking they are there to restore order when we throw out the eastern elites. Obama blew it. I'll vote but prez - blank.
@H4rryF, A better question: Why is Moore’s left elbow sticking out several inches past his left torso (as it would need to be for him to hold up an 8″×10″ at chest height) at 07:39, but when we see him from around the very same moment in time (as he would have us believe, anyway), from the back, his left arm is STRAIGHT DOWN AT HIS SIDE, as it COULDN’T POSSIBLY BE if he were really holding a large photo at chest height like that!?
This interview is so biased, what i imagine Heston is trying to say with the "mixed ethnicity" comment is more to do with the fact certain ethnicity's are across the bored poorer and have less opportunity and what not so are more likely to get involved in crime and hence gun violence... Charles Heston was involved in civil rights long before it was the flavor of the month in hollywood.
Love to see an old white hair repub get shown for the coward he really is. He doesnt even have senility as an excuse. He's just an uncaring entitled asshole.
They day he died, I laughed. Too bad, cuz many of his movies were great.
Too bad Ben Hur and Moses will always have an addendum to his storied acting career. The addendum of the gun prick. And don't tell me this many guns are necessary because they're not. Plus repubs had JFK, RFK, MLK, and Maalcom X all gunned down.
@TheRealCritique, In what way was Heston a coward? For walking away from the little girl’s photo?
Guess what? Moore NEVER SHOWED HIM the photo! He only made it LOOK like he did, by having his cameraman come around to the front and re-shoot the scene AFTER HESTON HAD ALREADY LEFT, then in post editing he interspersed clips of this “B-roll” shot (with the camera in FRONT of Moore, with Moore holding the photo and begging Heston [who wasn’t even THERE anymore!] to look at it) with the “A-roll”!
@COMALiteJ I could not care less if he saw the photo or not. The asshole protested for gun rights days after the funerals were held for victims of Columbine and other school shootings involving children. If that isn't the mark of a raging arrogant psychopath or a senile old fuck that is thank god off the planet, I don't know what is.
@TheRealCritique, Why, yes, that WOULD be bad of Heston to do that, IF he had actually DONE that. But, he didn’t do that, either. Again, Moore LIED through clever editing tricks.
In Denver, the NRA held a CONVENTION (NOT a “big gun rally” as Moore claimed) that had been planned YEARS IN ADVANCE (note the billboard that Moore himself shows when talking about it — do you honestly think that a BILLBOARD could be designed, produced, AND installed ALL in the few DAYS which MOORE HIMSELF says?).
ALL public corporations, INCLUDING not-for-profit ones like the NRA, MUST — absolutely, positively •MUST• — hold an ANNUAL Shareholder’s Meeting, during which the Board leaders account to the shareholders IN PERSON on how their money has been spent. The dues-paying NRA members are legally SHAREHOLDERS.
To save money and entice more members to come to this LEGALLY REQUIRED meeting, organizations group OTHER events with it, and call the whole thing a CONVENTION.
In the case of the NRA, they USUALLY (note that word) group in such events as gun EXPOS (note what the billboard actually said), gun safety seminars, discussions on a variety of subjects, afterglows and award ceremonies and other festivities, etc., all to be held in a big city (different one every year), all as incentive to get the members to come to the Shareholder’s Meeting. Many of the other events are open to the general public as well.
I personally am NOT an NRA member, nor a Republican. I AM, however, a member of ANOTHER (non-political) organization that likewise holds annual conventions. We’re a MUCH smaller organization, maybe a TENTH of the size of the NRA. Yet, I can tell you exactly in what cities, and on what days, our Annual Conventions will be held in every year through 2018. We plan them out at least THAT FAR in advance! And I’m just an ordinary member, not on the Board or anything.
You see, Conventions for such organizations are BIG DEALS for cities to host. They COMPETE for the honor of hosting such conventions, because they bring in lots of MONEY to the host city’s economy! The bigger the organization, the more valuable its Conventions are to the city. The NRA Conventions can easily bring in the tens of thousands of attendees, flying in and out of the city’s airport, staying at hotels, eating at restaurants, etc. That adds up BIG time!
@TheRealCritique, In other words.,, neither Heston NOR the NRA chose Denver because of what had just happened at Columbine (which, by the way, is in LITTLETON, •NOT• DENVER!). They chose Denver because Denver OUT-BID the other prospective host cities. They chose Denver because Mayor Wellington Webb, the SAME Mayor Webb that later pleaded with them to cancel the convention, all but got down on his knees and BEGGED them to choose, and to come to, Denver, YEARS PREVIOUSLY!
@TheRealCritique, IF Heston or the NRA had done what you accused him of, he / they would’ve gone to LITTLETON, where the actual tragedy happened, NOT DENVER! Littleton is a small city, but too big to be called a “town,” located within a LONG commute from Denver. It is NOT a mere suburb of Denver. It’s its OWN city.
At any rate, the Shareholder’s Meeting was LEGALLY REQUIRED, and once set, COULD NOT be canceled NOR ITS VENUE CHANGED without TEN DAY’s ADVANCE WRITTEN NOTICE to ALL NRA MEMBERS!
Columbine, as Moore himself said in the movie, happened TEN DAYS before the NRA Convention. Again, the NRA could NOT cancel NOR CHANGE THE VENUE of the Shareholders Meeting without giving TEN DAYS’ •ADVANCE WRITTEN• NOTICE to all several hundred thousand NRA members (including Moore himself)!
So, EVEN IF they started IMMEDIATELY after the tragedy hit the news, AND had a STAR TREK TRANSPORTER to beam themselves and notices INSTANTLY, there STILL wasn’t enough TIME!
Now, you may be asking, “Well, what about the REST of the Convention? The other events grouped in? The expos, seminars, festivities, etc.? Why didn’t the NRA cancel THOSE out of respect for what’d happened?”
THEY •DID•!! They canceled EVERYTHING ELSE EXCEPT for the Shareholder’s Meeting (what Heston was speaking at) and a brief welcome meeting! ALL ELSE •WAS• CANCELED!! At great financial cost to the NRA, I might add. They’d signed CONTRACTS and had to BREAK them!
Just so you know that I’m not making any of this up:
denver•rockymountainnews•com/shooting/0422nra3•shtml — note that this article in a local Denver paper was dated BEFORE the Convention, and LONG before the movie came out!
allbusiness•com/services/amusement-recreation-services/4592341-1•html — a small business magazine article, also from after Columbine but well before the Convention. It discusses the NRA Convention cancellation as just one of several.
In the above URLs, because YouTube rejects URLS in Text Comments, I had to disguise them by replacing the periods (“.”) with (ironically enough) bullets (“•”). Be sure to change them back to periods when pasting them into your browser, or they won’t work.
Now, you may be asking, if all of this is true, why didn’t Heston mention it in his speech? Guess what? HE DID!! Where? In the parts that MOORE CUT OUT!! Don’t believe me? Wanna read it on MOORE’S OWN WEBSITE!?
Now, so far, I’ve been talking about the Denver / Columbine incident. You may be asking, “But what about Flint? Didn’t Heston go to Flint right after Kayla Rolland was shot, to protest for gun rights THERE?”
No. He didn’t. Moore lied about that, too (in even WORSE ways), and I’ll prove it.
But first, you said, and I quote, “The asshole protested for gun rights DAYS after the funerals were held for victims of Columbine AND OTHER school shootings involving children.”
@TheRealCritique, (cont.) Now, my question to you, before I start on the Flint debunking: HOW MANY days, approximately, do YOU THINK passed between the death (or funeral) of Kayla Rolland, and Heston’s speech in Flint? Answer based SOLELY on what you saw in the movie “Bowling for Columbine.” If you need to refresh your memory and don’t have the DVD on-hand, check out Parts 9 and/or 10 (of 12) of the uploads by ZOYA09 (TRIPHAZER), PaddyDX, and others right here on YouTube.
Respond to this video... In case you don't grasp what I said, it's basically the same thing as Westboro baptist celebrating the funerals of US soldiers.
Instead of worrying about democrats, (many of which are also total sell-outs I know) you better start worrying about your republican senators that are about to make it legal to execute any US citizen anywhere, including in country. Time to wake up, and get your militias in action.
@TheRealCritique: “…it's basically the same thing as Westboro baptist celebrating the funerals of US soldiers.”
Not even REMOTELY close!
WBC does what they do on short notice, and as a LEGAL SCAM. Most of the “church” is the Phelps family. Fred himself is a disbarred attorney, and he forced most of his family to become attorneys as well. They do what they do to try to PROVOKE physical assaults, then they SUE the attackers AND the city.for not “protecting” their “rights.”
how could he be so cold hearted not to say anything about that little girl being shot it beggers belief ,he was a hero to me growing up, when he played moses i was blown away, when i watched this interview i was changed, gone was my hero how sad.
@kimmypie88, See my comments to TheRealCritique. Moore never asked Heston to look at little Kayla Rollans’s photo. He TRICKED the VIEWERS into THINKING he did, but in NOT ONE FRAME of this will you EVER see Moore, Heston, AND the photo, ALL THREE on-screen at the SAME TIME. That’s because it didn’t happen. And I can PROVE that, RIGHT FROM THIS VIDEO!!
In fact, I already have. Read my other posts in this thread. I show you exact time points to freeze at and see for yourself with your own eyes.
What an asshole. He barges into the guys house, practically bullying iim about the Columbine massacre, apparently not know the guy is old and sick from alzheimers. Michael Moores a dick
In mexico guns are illegal. But more ppl die here a day due to violence of the drug traffickers than they do in iraq. But how can ppl get shot if there are no guns you say? Well, there are guns sold illegally to the criminal element.90% of the guns coming from the U.S.But the average ppl are walking targets who remain gunless. Is this what this fat fuck moore wants for U.S.? I side with heston on this one.
@wetlazer, I warned you before about FAKING Replying to me without ACTUALLY Replying to me (as in clicking the “Reply” button to the right of my post, so that I’d get notified). Had I not checked here for unrelated reasons, I’d never have seen your Replies.
Last time, I gave you the benefit of the doubt, thinking that perhaps you didn’t quite realize how YouTube worked. No more.
TO ALL: BE IT KNOWN THAT WETLAZER DELIBERATELY AND KNOWINGLY PULLS DIRTY TRICKS, just like his hero Michael Moore!!
@COMALiteJ BTW what was the subtext of Planet of The Apes?
Quote:
Schaffner's 68 sci-fi classic was an audaciously Serling-esque allegory for racial relations in Civil Rights-era America in which the historical relationship between whites and blacks was reversed. That sly allegory was hatefully perverted by white supremacists, even deemed derogatory by some in the Black Power movement, but its provocation is unmistakable as one directed against the forces of institutionalized racism.
@wetlazer, And let you think I can't refute your claim and so am attacking your willfully dishonest tactics instead, note that MetaPhilm article you linked to was just someone’s OPINION — someone who didn’t even have the courage of his/her convictions to sign his (or her) name to the article, and who had NOTHING TO DO with the actual making of the film.
Your original claim, remember, was that ALL of Heston’s films had racist subtext. EVEN IF this article were right, that does not follow.
@wetlazer, (cont.) And besides, once again, since you still don’t seem to get this: Heston was JUST AN ACTOR, who was JUST PORTRAYING A CHARACTER, in those films. He DID NOT WRITE them. He DID NOT DIRECT them. He DID NOT PRODUCE them. Only the WRITERS and DIRECTORS and PRODUCERS would have ANYTHING TO DO with determining the SUBTEXT of a movie!
Are ALL of the actors and actresses who have EVER portrayed Romeo or Juliet, on stage or screen, ENDORSERS of TEEN SUICIDE!? SAME “LOGIC”!!
I always remember this scene, when I see or hear Michael Moore speak. It's one thing to behave this disgusting way in trying to get what you think will be good for your film. But, then to use it in your film to unfairly hurt someone, and to have the deluded judgement that this doesn't make himself look like a lowlife piece of shit. It's in things just like this that you see the true nature of a person. And I'm saying this not because I disagree with Moore's politics. I'm a Socialist.
@greggh There are, for lack of a better description, the Moores on both sides of the fence. They are usually so so obvious. But it's refreshing to see a soul on your side step aside from what seems to be required party support of Moore's tactics and shine the light of truth on him.
Not that I agree with your politics, but you seem the type (being a conservative myself) that can maintain honest, Free-Thinking discussions. (SALUTE)
@civicdecay He was the fucking president of the NRA. He wasnt frail and weak in 2001. Moore asked clear questions and Heston answered them all clearly. He just has no backbone.
@brokenclockstudios When you do your Youtube diagnoses, do your homework first instead of spewing out falsehoods like your hero, Moore. Yes, Heston was the NRA's President into 2003 when he stepped down due to his failing health. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2002, anyone with a mind would know that Alzheimer's doesn't developed just prior to it's diagnoses. Yes, Heston's Alzheimer's was already developing when this so-called and widely criticized "interview" took place.
You see the clock on Heston’s wall, visible several times during the interview, right over Moore’s head? It must be broken indeed to cover over 22 minutes of REAL time in only 6½ minutes of VIDEO time, if Moore isn’t lying when he’d REPEATEDLY claimed on NATIONAL TV and elsewhere that this interview is UNEDITED!!
See for yourself, right from this video (which Moore himself uploaded [or authorized] under his own YouTube channel!).
Can't have guns 4 protection during crime free times? I thought crime free times were the only times you COULD have a gun. They grab guns during NOT-so-crime-free times.
Michael Moore is ridiculous, for this kind of behavior he ought to be shot, fortunately for him we have God-given rights that say we can't kill idiots.
I saw the documentary. It was interesting how Mr. Moore commented the fact that Canada has less black people. Instead of talking with numbers he said "Every time I go to Canada I SEE a lot of black people". Very scientific...
Another example of his documentary was when he spoke about deaths by gun and he mentions numbers of countries. Numbers say nothing ! He has to mention percentage according to the population !
@SPARTAN3071, Oh, it's more than just that. Those statistics, while technically true, are THRICE-“cooked.” You mentioned only ONE (albeit a very obvious one) of the THREE DIFFERENT “cooking” methods that Moore used on those statistics. Read my other posts on this video for more details.
Deceiving a senile man to get into his home just so you can ambush him by saying how he is somehow responsible for the deaths of children is not my idea of good journalism Mr Moore.
@AussieGossie Charlton Heston was the president of the NRA in 2001 when the interview was done. He seemed to me to be in a very good mindset. He answered all of Michaels questions clearly. Michael Moore was respectful and asked clear questions. You just like Mr. Heston can't seem to handle the truth.
@brokenclockstudios Moore asked questions in a planned ambush (desguised as an interview) that was intended to misdirect answers and foul up replies. To not afford Heston time to respond, Moore pelted Heston with ludicrous questions and fabrications to try to purposely throw him off. Heston finally had enough of Moore's obvious setup, excused himself and left. Anyone believing Moore's unprofessional agenda (yes, purely an agenda) appropriate is just another lib on the side of cultural warfare.
@brokenclockstudios He was asking questions that Charlton couldn't answer yet persisted to ask them. That is why I don't like Michael Moore, he knows better than to put the blame on him.
@brokenclockstudios, Uhm, no. What Moore did here is not the truth. See my other posts in this video for more details, including precise places to freeze-frame to PROVE Moore's bald-faced LIES and DELIBERATE DECEPTIONS, RIGHT FROM THIS VIDEO!
You know that bit at the end where Moore shows Heston the photo of Kayla Rolland and plaintively begs and pleads with him to look at it, and Heston just coldly walks away?
Guess what? THAT NEVER ACTUALLY HAPPENED!! Moore FAKED that, and I PROVE it!
@COMALiteJ You tell em, ComaliteJ! He's just another of the lib type that spits out party garbage and runs. He hasn't a word to respond with, nor the intellect. Thanks for your efforts!
@brokenclockstudios You don't know the difference between being respectfull and talking in a pussy voice in order to sound respectful to liars and morons like you. You piece of shit
Not that I thought Michael Moore had any class or dignity before watching this, but I seriously did not think anyone could stoop this low. He was kind of enough to let you into his home, and you chase an old man with Alzheimers around with a picture of a dead girl? What a complete asshole.
@lasoogneypubes lying, piece of shit fat fuck taking advantage of his condition. Maybe one day you'll have the pleasure of getting some Alzheimers. While you're sitting there shitting yourself, someone will walk by and say "you see that retard over there, someone needs to tell him he's being an asshole for drooling all over himself"
@lasoogneypubes I can see how lucky you've been. Obviously you've been fortunate enough to have a family in which no on has Alzheimers. He didn't get his feelings hurt ... HE HAS DEMENTIA! Do you not know what that is or how that works?! That means, that Heston guy, he sometimes wakes up and doesn't know how to tie his shoes. He definitely has no clue how to handle some low- life, lyi
@wetlazer Michael Moore's the biggest hypocrite in this country. I don't know how anyone in this world could buy a word he says. "Mr. Capitalism Sucks and Americans Have no Self Control" . It's funny to me, because Capitalism is the only reason Michael Moore's living as well as he is. People like you buy his DVDs and feed off of his preaching like his talk means something. He could use some self control lessons himself. He needs to lay off the burgers you're buying him.
@wetlazer into a racist comment. Are you mad that Charleton Heston isn't a racist like your familymembers? Are you mad that you won't be seeing Heston at any of your Klan rallies? Do some research your own self and maybe you'd be surprised. It's idiots like you that have to have people like Michael Moore do all your thinking for you. It's people like you that are paying for Michael Moote's two houses, and his multi-million dollar salary.
@wetlazer I'm beginning to get the feeling that you're quite the racist. Charleton Heston did everything in his power to arm the blacks during the Civil Rights movement (including marching side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr.) . Just because he's saying that the multi-cultured society we live in promotes gun violence, doen't mean he's being racist. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, he's talking about the whites using the violence?! Only a true racist could turn what Heston said
Well if I must READ ALL of your posts. I will get right on that, but first I am going to go to bed and then get up for work and work and earn money and then if I have time, desire, and energy I will look for and read all of your posts.
I think Heston was a racist and Moore caught him. He was once for civil rights and then he changed his belief on that and on politics. You appear to be more concern about The NRA rather than Heston.
@wetlazer: “What are you trying to change or protect anyway? Are you protecting Heston or guns or what exactly is your main issue?”
Are you asking ME? Again, you didn’t use Reply, nor even have the courtesy of addressing that post to me by name, so I’ve no way of knowing for sure.
I’ll assume that you were. I’m protecting the TRUTH, and Heston’s legacy. I don’t much care about the NRA, have never been a member, and likely never will. I only bring them up to illustrate Moore’s deceptions.
Show me the out of context interview. Prove it. Juxtaposition, fine it's an effective technique but if the insinuation had not been mad by Heston himself the connection would not have worked. Heston said what he said and he was not talking about Rwanda or Kosovo or anything else. He said he had a gun in his L.A. mansion for protection and there were issues with all of the ethnicities, it does not take a rocket scientist..
@wetlazer, If you’re going to Reply to me, please have the courtesy of using the [Reply] button so that I’ll get a notice in Email, and my username starts off your Reply posts with “@” in front of it so that I can [Ctrl]+[F]ind it.
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt this time. Maybe you really didn’t know that, despite having been on YouTube for over ½ a decade now and being a 44-year-old adult. But if you do it again, I’ll know that you deliberately use dirty tricks, just like your hero.
This fat ass needs to get a real job.

JWH91969 2 weeks ago
Why is so little said about the fake scene at the 7 minute mark? The scene where he shows him the picture of the girl and he seems to walk away is very clearly staged, seeing as the reverse shot of Michael shows no camera behind him.

Ask Mao Tse Tung if you don't believe me.
jare122 1 month ago
if you believe in the whole reptilian conspiracy theory, Heston is obviously extremely nervous and wound up here.

No, he just played the clip until the applause, then dissolved away to an exterior scene and did his voice-over with audio of applause continuing, then dissolved to the Denver speech with applause continuing.

COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@COMALiteJ I could not care less if he saw the photo or not. TheRealCritique 3 months ago
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, (cont.)
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, (cont.)
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, (cont.)
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, (cont.)
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, In other words.,, neither Heston NOR the NRA chose Denver because of what had just happened at Columbine (which, by the way, is in LITTLETON, •NOT• DENVER!). They chose Denver because Denver OUT-BID the other prospective host cities. They chose Denver because Mayor Wellington Webb, the SAME Mayor Webb that later pleaded with them to cancel the convention, all but got down on his knees and BEGGED them to choose, and to come to, Denver, YEARS PREVIOUSLY!
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, (cont).
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, (cont.)

Now, you may be asking, if all of this is true, why didn’t Heston mention it in his speech? Guess what? HE DID!! Where? In the parts that MOORE CUT OUT!! Don’t believe me? Wanna read it on MOORE’S OWN WEBSITE!?
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@TheRealCritique, (cont.)
COMALiteJ 3 months ago

They do what they do to try to PROVOKE physical assaults, then they SUE the attackers AND the city.for not “protecting” their “rights.”

kimmypie88 3 months ago

COMALiteJ 3 months ago
@COMALiteJ BTW what was the subtext of Planet of The Apes?
Quote:
Schaffner's 68 sci-fi classic was an audaciously Serling-esque allegory for racial relations in Civil Rights-era America in which the historical relationship between whites and blacks was reversed. That sly allegory was hatefully perverted by white supremacists, even deemed derogatory by some in the Black Power movement, but its provocation is unmistakable as one directed against the forces of institutionalized racism.
wetlazer 4 months ago
@wetlazer, And let you think I can't refute your claim and so am attacking your willfully dishonest tactics instead, note that MetaPhilm article you linked to was just someone’s OPINION — someone who didn’t even have the courage of his/her convictions to sign his (or her) name to the article, and who had NOTHING TO DO with the actual making of the film.
Your original claim, remember, was that ALL of Heston’s films had racist subtext. EVEN IF this article were right, that does not follow.
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
COMALiteJ 3 months ago
DId you do something so I cannot respond?
wetlazer 4 months ago
I always remember this scene, when I see or hear Michael Moore speak. It's one thing to behave this disgusting way in trying to get what you think will be good for your film. But, then to use it in your film to unfairly hurt someone, and to have the deluded judgement that this doesn't make himself look like a lowlife piece of shit. It's in things just like this that you see the true nature of a person. And I'm saying this not because I disagree with Moore's politics. I'm a Socialist.
greggh 4 months ago
@greggh There are, for lack of a better description, the Moores on both sides of the fence. They are usually so so obvious. But it's refreshing to see a soul on your side step aside from what seems to be required party support of Moore's tactics and shine the light of truth on him.
Not that I agree with your politics, but you seem the type (being a conservative myself) that can maintain honest, Free-Thinking discussions. (SALUTE)

AHGlasher 4 months ago
@brokenclockstudios, Your handle here is appropriate indeed.

@SPARTAN3071 Agree completely. Manipulation of facts and figures.
littleshoemaker 4 months ago
@SPARTAN3071, Oh, it's more than just that. Those statistics, while technically true, are THRICE-“cooked.” You mentioned only ONE (albeit a very obvious one) of the THREE DIFFERENT “cooking” methods that Moore used on those statistics. Read my other posts on this video for more details.

Deceiving a senile man to get into his home just so you can ambush him by saying how he is somehow responsible for the deaths of children is not my idea of good journalism Mr Moore.
AussieGossie 4 months ago
@AussieGossie Charlton Heston was the president of the NRA in 2001 when the interview was done. He seemed to me to be in a very good mindset. He answered all of Michaels questions clearly. Michael Moore was respectful and asked clear questions. You just like Mr. Heston can't seem to handle the truth.
brokenclockstudios 4 months ago
@brokenclockstudios Moore asked questions in a planned ambush (desguised as an interview) that was intended to misdirect answers and foul up replies. To not afford Heston time to respond, Moore pelted Heston with ludicrous questions and fabrications to try to purposely throw him off. Heston finally had enough of Moore's obvious setup, excused himself and left. Anyone believing Moore's unprofessional agenda (yes, purely an agenda) appropriate is just another lib on the side of cultural warfare.
AHGlasher 4 months ago
@brokenclockstudios He was asking questions that Charlton couldn't answer yet persisted to ask them. That is why I don't like Michael Moore, he knows better than to put the blame on him.
AussieGossie 4 months ago

He definitely has no clue how to handle some low- life, lyi
mr1371 4 months ago
@wetlazer Michael Moore's the biggest hypocrite in this country. I don't know how anyone in this world could buy a word he says. "Mr. Capitalism Sucks and Americans Have no Self Control" . It's funny to me, because Capitalism is the only reason Michael Moore's living as well as he is. People like you buy his DVDs and feed off of his preaching like his talk means something. He could use some self control lessons himself. He needs to lay off the burgers you're buying him.
mr1371 4 months ago
@wetlazer into a racist comment. Are you mad that Charleton Heston isn't a racist like your familymembers? Are you mad that you won't be seeing Heston at any of your Klan rallies? Do some research your own self and maybe you'd be surprised. It's idiots like you that have to have people like Michael Moore do all your thinking for you. It's people like you that are paying for Michael Moote's two houses, and his multi-million dollar salary.
mr1371 4 months ago
@wetlazer I'm beginning to get the feeling that you're quite the racist. Charleton Heston did everything in his power to arm the blacks during the Civil Rights movement (including marching side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr.) . Just because he's saying that the multi-cultured society we live in promotes gun violence, doen't mean he's being racist. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, he's talking about the whites using the violence?! Only a true racist could turn what Heston said
mr1371 4 months ago
Well if I must READ ALL of your posts. I will get right on that, but first I am going to go to bed and then get up for work and work and earn money and then if I have time, desire, and energy I will look for and read all of your posts.

I think Heston was a racist and Moore caught him. He was once for civil rights and then he changed his belief on that and on politics. You appear to be more concern about The NRA rather than Heston.
wetlazer 4 months ago
Not asking about the NRA I was asking about Heston.
Sort of switching from topic to topic.

COMALiteJ 4 months ago
Again very small points. Show me where he was out of context.
wetlazer 4 months ago
Show me the out of context interview. Prove it. Juxtaposition, fine it's an effective technique but if the insinuation had not been mad by Heston himself the connection would not have worked. Heston said what he said and he was not talking about Rwanda or Kosovo or anything else. He said he had a gun in his L.A. mansion for protection and there were issues with all of the ethnicities, it does not take a rocket scientist..
