Steve Perry was brought on to sell records i guess it all comes down to money. For anyone intrested in hearing the best song Journey recorded it comes from their second album the title track LOOK INTO THE FUTURE that song is a 8 min masterpiece
Steve Perry (and Steve Smith) are the only ones that come off as intelligent and reflective in this show. I think it makes Herbie, Neal, Ross and even Jon Cain look like selfish, childish jerks - maybe they are.. I remember watching this on TV and thinking I was so happy that somebody finally let SRP tell it like it was. It's clear that nothing would have ever happened for Journey without Steve Perry - and I think the other members know that - they just don't want to admit it.
I get so annoyed at the disrespectful way they speak about Steve Perry and the nasty looks they get on their faces when they speak about him.
This show proves that without Steve Perry joining Journey as lead singer they never would have had the success and/or fanbase they once had with him. But even to this day certain members of 'that group/band' refuse to even acknowledge that fact and continue to be disrepectful and nasty about the man who gave them all that success etc.
@eljay345 so right it chaps neal's ass omg i hate how they speak of steve but yet steve is always the gentlemen and never has a harsh word ughhhh i boycott neal bastard
@angiedawson1969 One of the main reasons why I still admire Steve Perry as a person not only as an amazing, emotive singer so much is because I have never heard him or read about him personally degrading or ridiculing former/current Journey band members and/or anyone associated with that band. In my opinion he definitely has every right to do so. But as you wrote he by contrast is always the gentlemen and obviously far more mature.
@eljay345 Or maybe it proves that Steve had changed like Neil said... I don't get annoyed at all. Perryheads like yourselv gets decieved of course, but behind the beautiful voice there was a douche.
@eljay345 You're right. The rest of the band became progressively envious because he was the brilliant mind behind the most successful songs... and in the end I'm not surprised he started to feel isolated. I'm a singer too and I know what it means when you are in a group that doesn't treat you well. Respect is everything and being humble is another must... and Steve Perry had both. Can't say the same for the rest of the guys.
