I wonder how this show would have looked had HD been around at the time. I think I remember hearing something that they started doing that for television in Japan as early as 1985. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was true, because the electronics giants in Japan really know how to move forward with technology.
At the start -a differnet opening for Channel 9's Sale of the Century. Is that open from about 1989?

That was true, the Japanese did have a 1035i HD system back in the 80s. Although it was very different to the 720i/p & 1080i/p HD we know today.
