  • @MrTuberler We ship internationally - contact customer services for more info. You can get their contact details via our website at coldsteel (dotcom)

  • hope you guys made stew with all that chopped up meat.better not waste that shit!!!

  • @pigpaul meat utilized in this video was carefully preserved and donated to the Ventura County Rescue Mission

  • I wonder: Have you ever seen a scene in a show or movie in which the sword passes through the target, and the target splits in two and doesn't move an inch? Is that possible?

  • 0:47-0:51 i realy just want to run around my town and do that too ever water jug i can find

  • damm i could eat that beaf for a weeks

  • How am I gonna conceal that thing in public?! I can't just chug that thing over my shoulders and expect the cops not to arrest me ಥ_ಥ

  • i like the newer videos better. metal music, brick dungeon, and trashcans full of blue water. oh and ditch the charlie sheen shirt Lynn, the shirt and tie looks a lot better.

  • what i would love is if CS made these in "machete" version like they did with the gladius, they'd sell a lot less of the really fancy ones but this, with a kraton handle, in 1055 or whatever, i'd be having it in no time and i reckon plenty other people would too.

  • @ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz alright turns out its already in 1055, ohwell :P

  • His face is great after he cuts through something.

  • You know it's weird, I've seen videos of this very sword cutting through concrete but the cow bone seems to stop it short. Is bone stronger than concrete or are the concrete videos fake?

  • @ 0:45 fuck you aquafina

  • Do you think it can chop off an arm?

  • @seka1986 easily with out hardly any effort, check out the new vid of this thing cuts 2 free hanging pigs in half with ribs and all with ease

  • @seka1986 it would cut you in half, no joke

  • An effective way to cut bread

  • these guys do not know how to swing a sword its not about brute strength

  • @jtkilla117 With a blade that big... yes, it is about strength more than anything else.

  • @LantherZero it takes stregth to lift the sword yes but swinging the sword is a different matter

  • these guys have the best job in the world

  • that is a dadao is not it?

  • i have one love it

  • @snowturtle39, samurai were Japanese not Chinese, this is a Chinese sword.

  • first Chinese Tang Dynasty sabre, then the Korean sword (yedo), and finally the Japanese Iaito

  • True samurai wear short shorts.

  • Chinese soldiers have been using this type of Dao in close combat since the Ming dynasty up to WW2 days. During the Ming dynasty, they used them successfully against the invading Japanese pirates and in WW2, the PLA used them to defeat the Japanese Imperial Army. As a close-range hack and slash weapon, it is battle proven and really second to none.

  • @crane76 During World War II, the dao is the perfect and lethal weapon in close quarter combat. Japanese soldiers were afraid to engage in close quarter combat with Chinese soldiers armed with the dao. Many Japanese soldiers were issued with iron collars but they provide little protection from the blows from the dao. Only Japanese officers carried swords but they were primarily cheap factory made sabers known as Shinguntos. Only a handful were genuine samurai swords made by master swordsmiths.

  • i want one! z's wouldnt stand a chance!

  • that shit is like a dessert eagle just the sight of it gets em running

  • deadly. one swing, instant kill.

  • What do they do with all of that meat that they cut to pieces?

  • @gandelf2524 cook it hopefully

  • @gandelf2524 the dude at the beginning eats it?

  • there go's my leg

  • cold steel swords are so cool but they are so "GOD DAMN EXPENSIVE"

  • what type of sword does kurosaki ichigo have?

  • @hyptormors ....you meen ichigo kurosaki?

  • @hyptormors His weapon was probably based called a zanbadao, itself a ceremonial version of the anti-cavalry zhan ma dao (Lit. Slash Horse Blade) from china.

the zhan ma dao has a broad and long blade (120 cm) and was used to take on cavalry, the purpose was to cut the horse and rider witht he voersized blade

Since japan never accelerated in calvary warfare (japan is a island after all) the zanbato was made to ridiculous size and was used mainly for ceremonial purposes.

  • @CornFedArmen LOL, I want one, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you are implying that pro wrestling aint real.....

  • @deekomendez roflmfao

  • why would anyone need a sharp as hell chinese war sword?

  • @coolio5640 I brought on of those Egg Genie from the informercials

    I know, im an idoit.

  • Who wins ? The katana or this chinees sword.

  • @kingniels2 this is a real weapon for war. not just show off in the movie ....

  • katana is made for samurai fight, not very piratical for wars

  • @hmiaosys what do you think a samurai used in war... sticks, of course they used there katanas wakazashi and tanto..

  • The Chinese were doing all that well before the Japanese saw the design and modified and copied it. I have seen someone hack into a car door with one or those, it was in his scrap yard but if someone didthat while i were sitting in it I would **** myself!

  • who the fuck would carry that though?

  • I wonder how many butcher watched this and want one to make hacking a cow up faster.

  • my katana i have can do this rofl

  • @volchec not as easy, it dont have the weight to it

  • probably due to the weight of the sword that gave it immense momentum and slashing ability. both dadao and katana are unique.

  • the only thing that made me feel more like a nerd than watching this video, was reading these comments.

  • who else thinks theyre putting wayyy to much effort into this.

  • Short shorts

  • Now that fat guy is ready for his BBQ.

  • I know what I'll be buying if the next war involves fighting rugs.

  • This job is cool, you still hiring, 'cause I love to cut things down and smash stuff to pieces.

I want this job so bad!!!

  • They said it would shear through armor but it failed to cut through the meat with bones all the way and the wood at 1:35

  • @ylley so do I

  • these guys are gonna have a heart attack

  • This is how china 0:19 butchers it's meat. " HUAGH! HUAGH!"

  • the fuck would you ever use this for?

  • One might as well swing an axe.

I wouldn't mind adding it to my collection though. :)

  • cut cut like butttta

  • damascus steel swords blow this out of the water. real ones, not that folding shit.

  • I like the swords. But pleeeeease: Get swordfighting lessons and STOP SWINGING THEM LIKE BASEBALL BATS!!!

  • @cuchullynn

They're testing durability and power, not fighting or giving kung fu lessons.

  • It's like a two-handed scimitar.

  • does anyone know is cold steel sells shorts?

  • Chinese weapons are the best.

  • you can buy some amazing replicas at: zheng-wu.com/

  • Katana is actually a Japanese modification of the Chinese Tang Dynasty sabre.

  • @TheXanian

    You believe this?

  • @9SS94Cr

Tang Dynasty swords were the ancestors of Japanese swords. I believe that there is still a real Tang Dynasty sword in a Japanese musuem.

Tang Dynasty swords were mostly straight swords. Japanese adopted this design and they modified the Tang Dynasty sword into a curved sword, and thus the katana was born.

  • @TheXanian Japanese swords historically were not as sturdy of quality of 2nd century AD Han dynasty swords. They were more like watered down versions with lower quality steel of the tang dynasty sabres.

  • why cant you all stop arguing and instead make fun of Lynn Thompson's awesome outfit

  • LOL if i ran from this guy, think he'd be able to catch me? xD

but srsly good cutting there.. we should duel some time >:]

  • Man all the fanbois and their mommy have a hard on for the Katana. Blast Furnace/ Bessemer process invented/used in China makes pattern welding obsolete. I wouldn't stake my life with a Katana against a War Sword meant to the attrition of war. A Samurai relied on the Yari(spear)/Yumi (bow) and horse than a Katana.

  • @kamikazeroniner Hell a Katana is just a back up weapon/side-arm and never really used for combat except attacting unarmored "foes".

  • This is the weapon that would make one's day. In WW2 Chinese troops were equiped with this and it turned out to be powerful against katana because it's solid, heavy and tough. Though katana is light, easy to wield and very sharp, its blade gets curled too easily, that's why samurais who can afford have several blades with them.

  • fuck the katana after watching this

  • @NewZealfighter Fucking a Katana would hurt, no thank you.

  • @NewZealfighter The Chinese dao actually went against the Japanese katana during WW2. There wasn't enough guns to go around, so Chinese militia armed themselves with the dao and other old martial weapons.

  • It doesn't seem like the blade is long enough. you'd think if it was longer then you would have more leverage and power behind your swing.

  • During Sino Japanese War, there were reports that claim that a Chinese soldier having one on one fight with a IJA Katana armed soldier, the Chinese soldier could easily hack and split his enemy in two.

  • i wish i got paid to play with knives and swords :(

  • ill keep this in mind if i ever have to fight a yoga mat

  • he can cut me some ribs

  • why are they all fat men?

  • this, my son are mallninjas

  • This war sword was used in the second world war. It was sometimes carried on the back by Chinese soldiers who replaced their bayonets with this.

  • @freeheretic111 nah dont worry about it...its been fun answering your questions if there are anymore id be glad to answer them :)

  • @freeheretic111 uhh the first question is really hard to answer because it depends on the wielder. i would prefer the broady its good for hacking and slashing. Yes the Gim is harder to use. Because of its straight blade it is extremely difficult to slash. But it is extremely powerful. The main reason to the skill need is the accuracy with the long blade and one handed handle...therefore very hard to stabilize

  • @freeheretic111 Both are excellent blades...however...the broadsword would be more beneficial for warring standards

broadswords have a heavier swing to them so its easier to deliver a blow.

but warswords are small and "light" so that you will have to put effort in.

I personally prefer the larger of the two (no pun intended). For example. I am suppose to use a standard small katana. But instead my sensei said that a large katana would suit you better. And im use to using large swords now :P

  • @Mrmusicmaster88 you both have good points but if you want maximum dammage polearms and axes will dilver a more powerful blow. axes were used mainly for going through tough armor in battle sense swords could not always do it. and as you probably know swords are usually balanced weight through the entire weapon. wich is the total opposite of a axe. all the weight is mostly in the end not the handle so it delivers a far deadlier blow. but with no clean cuts most of the time lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @freeheretic111 yes you are correct about that...but due to large waves of desperate Japanese soldiers...yeah its useful to carry these swords around...but honestly...back then was not like now...when you had to fight off a wave in a trench i dont think a rifle would be very useful

  • THE ORIGINAL SWORD WHAS USED TO CUT THE LEGS OFF THE CHINEESE MONK'S ENEMY'S HORSES...

  • Is this rope test a fake?

  • depends on how you block whit the Katana the blunt edge is meant for blocking and its NO WAY you can break it at that end. i Train Ninjitsu so i do know that

  • the prob is that the dao is used by big and strong middle aged white guys so i doubt the actual effectiveness of that sword in the hands of a normal sized person with lesser 'muscle' mass.

  • I bet a blend tec blender can blend it.

  • The rope appears to be made of softer material along with thinner materials for the cardboard.

  • The katana is not notorious because of it's own merits but because of the merits of the guys who stuck them in to people. If a Japanese dude with a katana was fighting a Chinese foot soldier with this thing, he'd probably be the victor because he's very likely to be highly trained nobility.

  • Fat men with nothing between their ears.

  • Funny thing is, nobody ever dared to say that into their faces.

  • id buy one,if it wasent $500...

  • Don't like having to flip over those damn water jugs to put in your dispenser? CUT THE FUCKER IN HALF!!

  • Charlies not getting his meat he ordered, two months ago... Maybe he's still waiting...0.o

  • Looks like it would make a decent zombie blade.

  • @armand1280 oh hell yeah.

  • I see he didnt wear his business suit to fight the evil water filled objects this time.

The chinese war sword is so strong, hacking and slashing is a casual affair

  • yes this can cut throw a katna if you hit the sharp edge but thats no way in hell it will cut through a katana a the blunt side that side is MADE for blocking from even heavier weapons

  • For your average modern schmo who lacks 20 years of expensive, time-consuming martial sword training but who wants an effective home defense weapon (and either can't legally own a gun, or who refuses to use one) I think this sword might be a fairly good choice; historically it was used, with a high degree of efficiency, by untrained Chinese peasant troops as late as WW2 (against rifle-toting Japanese invaders.) I sure as hell wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of this thing.

  • perfect gift for mother's day if you mom cooks

that would make chopping in the kitchen a lot more fun :D

  • this is why the Chinese perferred swords over rifles in World war 2

  • @Mrmusicmaster88 How'd that work out for them?

  • @TheCrazyFinn Since China's battlefields were more cramped then other places of the war, rifles were proved useless. So instead of fighting with bayonets (cheap scrap metal), they went and applied their sword play into war. However, this was only the main Chinese infantry. Militia would use the Mauser c96 as their weapon of choice.

  • @Mrmusicmaster88 cause chinese people use there swords like lightsabers :D

  • @Mrmusicmaster88 that is also why they were never mentioned during wwii

  • @reeding uhm the swords or the Chinese "military"?

  • @Mrmusicmaster88 well swords over bayonets

  • @Mrmusicmaster88 The Chinese weren't part of world war 2. It was the Japanese.

    It's common knowledge.

  • Comment removed

  • @GabrielKotilinek pretty sure they did...the japanese fought two enemies the Chinese (from 1937-1945) and United states (1941-1945) so...they actually did fight in world war 2 XD

  • @GabrielKotilinek Lol. You need to learn your history. The Chinese fought a majority of the war in Asia. Look up ''japanese invasion of China 1937-1945''.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 Yeah, you showed him.

  • @GabrielKotilinek THAT is common knowledge.

  • Isntead of cutting through perfectly good meat, make a barbeque.

  • OK fat boys ~!! LOL

  • im scared of chinese people now O_O

  • every butcher shops should at least have one of these

  • you guys should be butchers LOL

  • holy shit

this thing is beastly imagine cutting zombies heads with that thing

  • Watch 2:23, he got two perfect test objects, but he only cared about that stick. He should try them together with that stick, LOL.

  • Believe or not, this weapon was used in the boxing rebellion.

  • I want one! :D

  • 0:34 "I also use it to cut my spareribs"

    XD

  • 'Craftsmanship'...

    You mean pumpedthroughamachinewiththousandsofotherscabbardsaday-itude.

  • Forgot your pants at home?

  • This guy is fairly skilled at striking with a blade. Don't expect to get this blade home and expect it to cut like that in your hand, unless you have some sword training.

  • The conception that two-handed swords are bulky and heavy is, quite frankly, a myth. A several foot-long German große-messer only weighs anywhere from ten to fifteen pounds. TOTAL.

  • After practising with the Chinese War Sword and the Japanese Katana, The war sword is so much more lethal, it can even break bayonets.

  • @nivenheim Not really, the chinese dao proofened to be fast and agile weapon, even jap war veterans admitted it. The Japs were afraid of the chinese war sword.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how some people think that the bigger the sword the better it is, disregarding speed. I also love watching those people get beat in duels.

  • I prefer the Katana, is much ligther tan chinnese sword, and the firts one is much faster too!

  • @XmodGT1 Not really, Japanese war veterans admitted the fact that the dao is a lethal weapon, they were afraid to clash with the chinese dao, it has moore powerful cutting power and can block and deflect the katana easily. I prefer the dao the dao is much deadlier.

  • But the chinese sword look more heavyr than Katana.

    So you have Swords?

you have videos i will like to see.

  • @XmodGT1 Wrong, I used a chinese war sword before, it was very easy to use and I can use it with speed and agility. The Katana?, I'm not impressed, The chinese war sword had more cutting power and more deadly than the katana.

  • it's a 2-handed scimitar.

  • I'd say that their grosse messer is one of the few swords that are more intimidating in their catalog.

  • who knows? maybe they barbecued it later :P

  • That's expensive meat!

  • What's that big ring on the end for?

  • it's to place a tassel. No not for pretty colours. It has the psychological value of throwing off an opponents focus, much like the fluffy tassel on Chinese spears. Kind of like when matadors wave a red cape at the bull. The cape becomes the focus and draws the eye from the matador's movements, and his rapier. Just another edge the Chinese came up with in sword warfare.

  • Oh I see.

Still wonder why the ring is so big though.

  • also, that ring pummel can be used for counter balancing the weight. you can attach small metal rings in order to make the COG more close to the guard, making the weapon more flexable in trade of cutting power.

  • Does you guys know Katana got its forging technique and design from Chinese Tang dynasty !?? So dont compare the student with the teacher, its a Great disrespect : (

  • that sword is somethign but looks like these guys are just swinging and looking for power. They feel the art and heart of the sword... SWORDS are not just for power its about skills and speed. Feel the sword.

  • This is the first choice for beheading : )

  • Started saving for this sword to added to my collection. But to be honest, if you look at the sword it's no different from a thicker machete made of a different metal.

  • dude, u could cut a human in half in 2 swings :(

  • IT would be very nice to see CSknives compare swords with other swords say cutting a katana with this war sword : )

  • this sword is as quiet as the wind but just as devastating as a hurricane

  • I would pick this sword over the katana
