@TheGuydudebro actually live they were a whole different thing. Back then TV censorship was intense, notice the artwork and the fact Jefferson Airplane are on their show. Everything was done in code and the real squares had no fucking idea.
Smothers Brothers & Laugh in were very liberal and progressive, they had great ratings but they couldn't allow that! They don't want you thinking for yourself!
@Foxboy106 the " Pill" that Grace slick mentions actually is the "eat me" cake from the beginningof the disney movie Alice in wonderland...." eat Me" = mesaclin\
2 things: i remember when grace slick's look(as mellancamp would say) could stop a clock. i also remember a story about her in a jaguar dealership being ignored as just another hippie in the day. that was until she pulled out a rollof 100's.
what the hell happened, this generation is now running our nation and our world and it is more fucked up than ever, they became the thing they hated, that's what happened, they used to hate the man and now they are the man. We need a new social revolution that is what we need, anyway love the tunes. thanks for sharing.
@persevere67 All the generation stuff is over hyped... it happens every generation to some degree; the young rebel, "we're fed up with this system, we're going to change!" blah , and then time takes it's course and they become properly trained and obedient, get factory or desk jobs, and work to retire, then die. All I can say to you is don't loose your spirit; that's how revolutions turn into more of the same. Never be content, and never stop questioning and looking for the best future possible.
@persevere67 Your first problem is assuming that every person from that generation shared the same beliefs and ideals. Remember, it's a counter-culture. And the Cuntry is set up is so only people with a shit load of money have a say in running it. Poor hippies in the 60's raised poor kids and their poor kids raised other poor kids. They're not in charge and very few ever will have a chance to be
@gmfutube there's good music in every era. The difference is in the 60's the labels pushed talented visionary artists instead of mass produced commercial garbage.
The banana comment is from that period of time, there was a big American rumor that you could get high from smoking dried banana peels. I was 18, and no it didnt work :)
@southaussie87 Sigh.... We Built This City.... the worst song ever written. Such a shame. And even worse, Bernie Taupin wrote it. Great writer, great band, terrible terrible aural atrocity.
If you love your mom repost this to 20 other videos a girl didn't so her mom died 365 days later. I'm sorry I had to repost this because I love my mom.
@Freyja1133 It wasn't a phrase, it was a a hoax in the '60's about a fictional substance called "bananadine" which as the story went was in banana peels and would act as a psychedelic when smoked. It was believed by many for a while, and the misconception is actually still floating around in stoner youth culture. When "his brother" said that he either was aware of the hoax or more likely actually believed it was a viable option for intoxication.
What a time to have grown up in. Dear god I wish I was born in the 60s so I could have lived in this time. I'm probably the only 22 year old who wishes she was 50. No regrets.
i'm 16 years old and love psychadelic music from the 60's. My friends ask me what i'm listening to and i say "TRUE MUSIC!" because now a days most songs are actually quite dumb.
@jlboy112 if you believe in reincarnation, you probably lived back then .. ;-) hey, but really, it's cool when a whole new generation can love this classic psychedelic rock.. good.
The 60's was the best time for rock & roll. It was a magical time as far as music goes. I thought the 80's was the worst and today, rock is almost extinct.
@jamesmaseobrown the difference is in the drugs. LSD, pot and shrooms open the doors to this kind of creativity. With the 80s came cocaine...gawd...no drug worse for music. Speed & Greed go together and never produce anything but crap music, ugly clothes, bad movies the mess we have socially and economically today.
@gmfutube and today there are hardly any drugs and look what's being produced today.. (no, just kidding..), the main drugs are mind control and Lady Gaga, which go hand in hand.. ;-)
@gmfutube I agree mostly, though dancing to strange-fast-paced-electro on speed, that's pretty fuckin amazing, the difference is the music you'd listen to on LSD, Pot and Shrooms sounds good even when you're sober, the creativity and dream like feelings that pulls you into the music.
@jamesmaseobrown It's not extinct, it's just no longer played in the radios and on tv. If go looking for good rock, you'll find it, but the love for it by the public has died.
@Corkoth55 People (mostly hippies) thought you could get high from smoking banana's back in the day. Look for the video called the Country Joe McDonald, The Banana Affair. Tells you a funny story about it lol
@gratedfilmz Not bad taste, just different tastes. If it wasn't for different tastes, music as we know it would not exist. Stop being a closed minded fool.
The whole banana thing is a reference to a rumor started by Country Joe McDonald, of Country Joe & The Fish, that you could get high by smoking the skin of a banana.
A normal airplane is made out of metal. Jefferson airplane is made out of people. The only thing they have in common is the both get really freaking high! OHHH corny joke time!!!!!
@BriBriPWNZ take a look around you if you can c how mess up things are right now and for that fact to be born at this time we must be an important generation same way if things get even more messed up there will b even more wiser souls to b born after us.
