yeah, he sailed a boat around the world by himself, but this wasn't a non stop trip. He stopped over 20 times to all kinds of exotic ports of call. If I was one of his sponsors, I would feel cheated. He stayed from one week to one month at each of these ports. He even flew home for Christmas.

All this kid did was dupe a lot of sponsors into paying for his very expensive, year long vacation.

It's always going to impress people what he did. If other people have already done it or are doing thats really great. It's starting, perhaps, to open people's eyes and show them what real adventure is! I'm sorry if i seem rude but thats my opinion.

I dont think it should be considered as competition as in who beat what or who did it this way or that but mainly that he did it. Whether he beat anything or not It's still extremely hard to do. I mean he sailed around the WORLD! By himself! What a grand adventure! I don't think it's rubbish at all i think it's amazing. Plus I had never heard of Jesse Martin till now.

Jesse sailed alone and unassisted - Zac might be alone when hes sailing but he's not unassisted. Jesse's circumnavigation was nonstop - Zacs is a series of trips from one port to another with all modcons laid on once he gets there.Jesse sailed Cape Horn, the Mount Everest of Ocean Sailing - Zac is avoiding it by going through the Panama Canal.Zac has a satelite phone and GPS - Jesse had Radio and a sextant which Zac said he doesnt know how to use....Jesses record is not threatened by this

You might not give a crap about truth and honesty but I do. I never said he's not doing anything impressive, or not accomplishing anything - what I said is that hes not doing anything like as heroic as what Jesse Martin did, and its time they stopped comparing Zac to him. Sailing nonstop, alone and unassisted and around all the great Capes, and in the era before satellite phones and GPS places Jesse in the company of the great adventurers. Zacs trip is not in that League I'm afraid.

The record is for youngest person to circumnavigate the world alone. And that's the record he's going for. And that's what he's doing. He may not be so "heroic" but that's not the point. He's doing what he loves and I'll be cheering him home.

well, keep in mind, that this is more for himself, something he wanted to do. it's not even mainly about the record.its just everyone is focusing on that, because the world an media are obsessed with fads. he's smart to use the resources he has, especially since it is dangerous and so few ppl have been able to accomplish it for a reason.

This guy and his mother are allowing the uninformed public to think that somehow they are challenging the record for youngest solo circumnavigation set by the remarkable australian sailor Jesse Martin.The truth is that no matter how old this guy is when he gets back, Jesse's record will remain because Zac is doing something else,something nowhere near as heroic as what Jesse Martin did.
