i was really disappointed of this remake.They said in the interview that this was closer to the book than the first,....SO big lie!Almost nothing was according to the book at all.Just that they moved in.They had even changed the shape of the house & changed the ages of kathy's kids.She didn't have a teenager who hated george.Jodie wasn't a ghost of defeo's socalled sister,but a big demonpig with red eyes.George never dreamed of torured indians in basement and he NEVER wanted to kill his family.

I didn't think this version was very scary (OK movie to watch on cable though). I think the 1979 version was much scarier. The story somewhat changed in this version...I think they almost try to fuse the movie the Shining with the old Amityville to create this version...wasn't really scared.

I think the Exocist, Ring, and Saw films were MUCH scarier!
