It will always remain a legend, and it isn't just getting compared to the newest supercars of today but it is clearly much better than all of them even after 17 years since the production beginning date! Well M-f1 is 1,600lb lighter than Veyron, so it needs less ponies for high speed. Secondly f1 was born on a idea of bulding a Formula car for streets, & it does that. But Bugatti was born with Ettore's dream of being The King of cars, still back in 1890s. Well, it never achieved that untill this day. Actually weight has little effect on top speed. The F1 needs less power to go fast because it has a smaller frontal area and lower drag coefficient.
furthermore the Veyron is not quite the best of everything for the street. The Mclaren would still get around corners faster, and can hold two hot chicks instead of just one =)
