  • My Biology exam is next week, what a lifesaver! And is it weird that I was listening to this song while I was revising? :3

  • Doesnt Co2 combines with 5 carbon compound

  • whats gp!!!

  • thanks for this! perfectly simplified - and the song is calming my nerves a bit for the test in 2 hours

  • Wow thanks you're a ledge (: (: (:

  • still confusing...why did they make high school biology like this...urgh...good music though

  • @chxdst agree :(

  • got my exam for biology on monday shiting myself- at least i understand this lol

  • hahaha i was rofling as i watched this. thanks so much! it made bio fun...ish.

  • melvin calvin was a student streaker

  • i've been looking for a while for a good presentation thats simple, yet efficient in telling me about the calvin cycle as i have an exam in january

not only is it a good presentation

    mint music too! thanks! :D

  • I'm glad you didn't use horror music for your video like other biology videos. That's awesome. Thanks for the help. Have a test today : (

  • boy did this help! thank you!

  • I actually love your videos

    And your music taste

...I love Vampire Weekend and Good Shoes also (:

  • sadly im still confused but i'll get it

  • That did clear up a few things

    :D

  • THANK YOU!!

  • AWESOME

  • TANKS :)

  • brilliant, as always! :)

  • suggestion, introduce the molecules before using abbreviations. Not everyone knows what they mean

  • Great Job! liked it

  • Thanks that was awsm, they should play funky music like that in lectures!!

  • Calvin cycle is light independent reaction, where there're 4 main stages needed to go through,

  • Who sings this song?

  • The song is called 'A-Punk' by Vampire Weekend.

  • Thank you!!

  • dude u r helpful

  • i love you.

  • Can you explain to me the bit about TP forming glucose on every 6th turn of the cycle. I cant work out the numbers in my head, does every turn of the cycle start with the 12 CO2 and 12 RUBP?

  • Yeah, sorry about that. This is actually 6 turns of the cycle, the reason i did it like this is so i could show that glucose is made once every 6 turns. Each cycle starts with 1 CO2 (1C) and 1 RuBP (5C) which form 2 GP (2x3C), then 2 TP (2x3C) which can then either make 1 glucose (6C) or 1 RuBP (5C).

    Hope thats helped. :)

  • Yeah it really does =]

So the 6CO2 enters the stroma just from the atmosphere? and reacts with the 6RuBP that is already there? then they react to form 12GP which are 3 molecules of 12 carbons?

is it only the ATP and reduced NADPH that comes from the light dependent reaction to help make 12 GP into 12 TP? is that right?

  • Noooooo! There are 12 molecules of GP, each with 3 carbons.

And yeah, youre right about the rest of it, its only ATP and NADPH + H+ that are from the LDR. :)

  • that was a really good video =]

although some parts i needed to pause to get my head around! why are there 12 molecules of GP?

  • When the CO2 reacts with the RuBP it forms 6 unstable molecules. Each of these molecules has 6 carbon atoms. So 6 x 6 = 36 carbons. As the molecules are unstable they break down into 12 GP. Each GP molecule has 3 carbons. So 12 x 3 = 36 carbons.

    Hope that helps. :)

  • thx. that was so helpful.

  • Youre welcome, im glad you found it useful. :)
