It's a beautiful and proud history and illustrations of Ilocos Sur from beginning to end. Although under the Spanish conquistadors for 400 years or so, unlike Mexico and other South American countries, the Filipinos were never really and truly "conquered" especially in speaking the Spanish language. However, under the Americans and its powerful influence for almost 50 years, English became our second language. Under Japan, thank God it's all short-lived. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
