This is misleading, to say the least. In reallity unions are groups, in this case teachers who are joining together to ask for cost of living adjustments. The Department of education determines who works and who does not work. Without colective bargining you will be told how much you are worth and that will be it. "We would like to pay you what you are worth , but we do have a minimum wage law in this state" That will be the next to go.
@cedarzar: Man you don't really have a grasp on the world of economics. It is simple mathematics. If I give you a $1,000 dollars a month to work with and you spend $1,250 you either have to ask me for more money or cut something out of your budget. If I look at your budget and see some out of whack I would attempt to make adjustments. Then you, part of the entitlement class, would start screaming how unfair it is because you are so SPECIAL! I'm tired of GIVING YOU my money and you're not special
@cedarzar: Please stop thinking that everyone gets a tear in their eye whenever they think of a union worker. We all have to work and do our part. You buy into the mythology that some how union people are superheros, when you are nothing more than working stiffs like the rest of us. All non-union people pay more for union labor (whether it's worth it or not) and that is somehow suppose to make the "working" class happy.
(Yeah, working class union members; non-union people--not so much!)
@wenlinkel Very true. I'm not even worried about the upcoming recall elections for the Republicans. The Republicans will win again, just like in November of 2010. All of the hot-air coming from the left is literally laughable. I'm not in any district that has a recall election, but I'm 100% certain that Kapanke will stay just like Holsdorf and all of the other Republicans.
If you simplify the argument to "they just want control" you will NOT gain mainstream support and you will lose the greater argument. Nobody should directly fight unions, because that's an attempt to limit our freedoms. We should just demand that unions compete like everyone else. Make dues and membership voluntary, no closed shops. Then count the minutes till the majority jumps ship. I believe folks support their unions till they have a choice; let's put our money where our mouths are.
As for this country going bankrupt, check out the national debt history and see that the republicans were in charge each time the national debt almost decimated our country. Short memories remember how Bush ran our economy in the ground.
If the voters in Wisconsin are so dumb & so easily led into voting for big unions & politicians that are bankrupting them, then they deserve bankruptcy! This is exactly what the USA, in general, is getting with big government politicians like Obama. I guess we will have to go bankrupt to learn our lesson! In the end, it's our fault for electing them!
@NotAnotherVoyeur LOL, I did check out who I voted for last time, but they lost! However, it's still "our fault" as "a collective national we" for electing the set of losers we now have!
Thank goodness we have people who are willing to fight for the good of the people as a whole and not give in to the selfish greed interests of the unions. It is good to see that Americans are willing to stand up to support the good elements of our Republic and against the elements that are deteriorating our society.
On Video of NEA Conference, the Speaker was Loudly Cheered when he said, "We are Not about Education, We are Not about the Children, But We Are about Money and Power and Control!"
Everyone's Taxes are Paying for the Indoctrination of America's Children.
At the Top of NEA's Recommended Reading List is:
'Rules for Radicals' by Saul Alinsky, a Neo-Marxist that espoused the 13 Ways to Overthrow the USA. He dedicated this book to Lucifer (Satan).
It always cracks me up in the commercials by the Unions about how Walker and the Republicans are attacking the "working class" by wanting to limit some of the Unions power. Apparently the people who pay the taxes that go the public sector employees are not working class. I know people in unions that make more money than the people that pay the taxes that go to toward the union man's salary. How ironic. The union is nothing more than the Mafia without the fancy suit.
@cedarzar: What the heck does that mean? That I'm a criminal because I don't agree with you? However, you are correct that I've NEVER done anything remotely honest. I steal cars and rob banks for a living. I'm am also an associate of the both the Gambino crime family and the Cali Drug Cartel. Commenting on Wisconsin politics is just a hobby of mine (which I do on my own time!). Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go sign a "re-call" Walker petition (for the eighth time.)
Let's get back to basic reality. Education by real caring teachers is the only way. Our children are our future, not the Unions who's concern is for their pocketbook
It's not about education. It's not about the children. It's about "control." It about union thugs taking the forced union dues and laughing all the way to their bank. Wake up and smell the coffee, Wisconsin. Otherwise your schools will be a metaphor that will soon reflect the dilapidated city of Detroit, another area ruined by unions. Sincerely, Principal M
It isn't only Dan Kapanke, all six Republican are at risk. Seems like they are hung out to dry. Please help me to reach someone at Fox news to do a fair report on this Aug 9 election, or they will lose. The media, labor thugs and Democrat party has pulled out all stops to defeat them. I'am in Senator Hopper's district, we have put out signs and done all we can, but with all the union people they have many boots on the ground, and a lot of the public behind Republicans are afraid to campaign.
Kapanke got a spanking.
