I'm a student in my county's emt class in jersey, and although this video is funny as hell, one of my instructors told us that the emts in this video got canned because of this video.

So I mean... I dunno I guess I'm just conflicted. I feel bad for them because there's only so much you can do in a situation like this, but they completely bypassed the procedure and respect emts are expected to have when caring for a patient, so I understand. It's just really unfortunate.

The EMT in this video is a close friend of mine, and I am very familiar with this story, and the things you say do not add up. I assume your an EMT student as you claim but you need to study more. Being and EMT student you should know, that under the medical legal portion of your class clearly is states that your not supposed to participate in any unsafe scenes because EMTs are not police officers. Not sure if you noticed, but the patient was drunk and ran into oncoming traffic.

Last time i checked, running into oncoming traffic was an unsafe scene. Furthermore, the EMTs on the call had another patient in their truck that they were treating. The protocol for these such cases is to call for mutual aid. If you bothered to watch the video then you would know that a mutual aid unit showed up. That is because, the EMTs on the scene called for mutual aid, and for police as required.

Its not the EMTs fault that IPD was ignorant and took no action. The truth of the matter is, the EMTs were completely exonerated and none of them lost their jobs and no action was taken against them. However, that was not the case for the officer, he was disciplined and sent for retraining. If your instructor really told you the story, then they are a fountain of misinformation, please respond with your instructors name, for they are slandering the EMTs in this incident.
