Most of your bigger carnival organizations have their own inspectors of the their rides, where in turn these rides are also inspected by the state. I've seen this at the opening of the Florida State Fair. I know that the Zipper at this fair is inspected daily, but not only is the ride inspected, but the operators have to be certified and that's to insure a safe ride. I really like the zipper and when I do ride it , I notice the triple locks and the pin that secures the doors.

I am looking up the Zipper ride today to let every parent out there know that this is a dangerous ride. My daughter and I had a near death experience on this ride last night. Our door opened at about 15 feet in the air as they were allowing other riders on, thank God the carnival worker noticed my blood curding screams as I was holding onto my daughter trying not to rock the basket. He reversed the ride, and let us off. If he wouldn't have noticed us, we would have died.

@ghostygirlmn I know there have been accidents of this nature before, and as a result, all Zippers have triple locks on the doors, including a steel R pin. The ride is built to be safe. Operator negligence is the only reason why your door could have opened. I am glad you and your daughter are safe. File a lawsuit against the carnival.

I would really like to break my own record of riding the Zipper for one hour plus and attempt to go for three to four hours and ride on one where the operator can spin the tubs from the control panel, and spin it a minimum of 250 times in the shortest time. I've set-up, operated, torn-down, and maintained a Zipper, for an amusement company. It is the best ride out there. You can toggle the brakes, and make any car you wish spin like crazy (although the company will deduct 20 from your paycheck, every time you get caught jogging the controls) I had one Tub spin almost 100 times in 2 minutes, and they couldn't stand up, and fell when I opened the Tub to let them out. LOL good times. Also I can't count the phones that fell off it, or knifes and money

@kennethoes The Zipper thing is built in Wchita, KS by Chance Morgan. It is a portable ride that several different carnivals own. If you live in the US, just go to a fair or big event with rides and you may see one.

ONCE my brother and my dad went on, and my brother slipped out of the bars and was about to go head first into the cage, my dad had to grab him and hold him while it was turning upside down, thank god my brother and dad is okay, the guy walked away and left them there when they were screaming stop.

yes! quite a bit. it really depends on which car you are in and which position your car is in as the boom rotates. cars rounding the top with almost always flip once, twice, or even the whole length of the boom to the other side. very fun thought C=
