This was one of the slowest hardcourts I've seen. The organizers appologized for making the court too slow (they changed it for last year since it was way too fast in previous years). They promised to speed it up a little for 2008.

The courts were slow at Paris in 2007 I remember it well, a few players were complaining.

You should know that the wimbledon courts are a lot slower than they used to be. I suspect the US OPEN courts are faster.

thats right...wimbledon has been using a different grass which has made the courts very very slow...slower than the us open...wonder why they did that...slow courts are boring

Its obviously favouring the spainards who were clay court specialists and now can play on grass because of the slower conditions and higher bouce. The reason they slowed down the courts was encourage longer rallies and therefore entertain the crowd more! Don't agree with it myself though.

because the old type of grass wore out quicker, the new grass is thicker , so it doesn´t wear out so fast, the grass got puffier, therefore slower..

I just think that the us open is going to be the hardest slam for rafa to win, for sure, because of the surface, guys like federer, murray, djokovic, roddick and other´s have better suited games for that particular surface.

I think that if rafa used less spin on the forehand, maybe even flatten out his forehand sometimes, get it be more penetrating and play inside the court more, moving forward, rush the net as well, to shorten the point´s, he does have a good chance..

I love Nadal too. He's a ball of fun to watch and he seems like he's just "hella cool" as they say. Federer is style is different however; he's a thoughtful player (not that Nadal isn't), full of quiet finesse and shot- answers that are just damn subtlely skillful -they knock u back. I actually love to see him play from the back because - that the best position where you can see the decision making and returns that sets him at the top and make him so formidable an opponent.
