Chris was awesome - very underrated. The first couple HLN concerts I saw he was ok - but he improved dramatically over the years. Stef is amazing too, but I miss Chris. Thanks for uploading this video.
Can anyone tell me what mode Chris Hayes is playing in? Also, what kind of guitar is Chris Hayes playing? I notice he needs no hookup to playup it. I don't see any guitar cables. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
I wish I could go "back in time" when Chris Hayes was still with the band. He was awesome!!! People say Stef Burns is good. I'm sure he is, but once Mario and Chris left, it has not been the same. I haven't seen the band play live since. I love watching the old videos and concerts. It brings back good memories! :)
heuy is such an incredible front person. a real american superstar. & chris issac is about as good of a 'white-boy blues-fussion players' as there can be. heuy's act is totally together. & his bassist, chipolina. a mega-monster band. blues-pop.

What an amazing band. Chris Hayes is just brilliant. Huey Lewis and the News was always one of my favorite bands ever. They are ageless, their music is so diverse, they will stand the test of time.
Watching Chris play this intro reminds me of all the times I saw him on stage with the band. Great memories and what a performer. His guitar just drove the sound when you heard the News Live. Whatever your doing Chris, thanks for the guitar pick and kind words at the HOB, long time ago. Hope you still are playing golf and having some fun. Appreciate all the leads I stole from you off the records.
Je remet un "sac" (French language)...Huey Lewis c'est comme le bon hélico Huey Bell UH1... C'est de la bonne musique (zimu). J'entends par là que c'est fait pour durer avec du baume au coeur.
I loved this band growing up. I remember waiting by the TV in middle school waiting to watch their videos on MTV. Chris was the mastermind behind much of the very popular music that came out of this band. I have heard that he was a Jazz guitarist before joining Huey Lewis and the News.
Chris is a great, solid musician. At a time when many of his colleagues were sporting spandex, make-up and volumes of Final Net, Chris was rocking with his good friends - an excellent band with no weird break-ups or drama. I seriously doubt that any of the authors of goofy negative "opinions" posted below have measured up to this type and quantity of success, while remaining a genuinely cool human being, like Chris.
Wow! Remember when "bands" were "Pop". For all you Chris Hayes haters that's where EVH got his new hairstyle from. Seriously though if more of us guitar players emulated Chris instead of trying to wank and shred there might be more bands in pop again! The more I listen to him the more I realize his guitar sound was as much an influence on me wanting to play as EVH, satriani, or vai. And no I'm not saying he is as technical as them, but he has great tone and is always in the box.
I was lucky enough to see those incredible life Band 3 times life here in Germany- and still remember them- as one of the best life Bands I was able to see! Thank you Huey & Co.

He was earning his life as a guitar teacher at a San Francisco School of Music before he was 18. He then entered the Dave Liebman/ Pee Wee Ellis group and when he was 20 he went with Ester Phillips on a concert circuit that included the Montreux and North Sea jazz festivals . Why is the guitar playback?
Decket 10 months ago
Chris Hayes has himself posted this clip on his website , and he says,
"God I wish I still had that orange guitar. If anyone has seen it, I’ll give them $100 for it."
The headstock of the guitar has the letters "MU", apparently as a logo. I can't find it on the internet. Anybody know the company?
I think the paint is some kind of fluro-neon with reflective particles. I'm trying to make a replica of this guitar.
