At the second part, it was(from what I remember) her 'launch' as a maiko. The makeup should have been white with the 3 stripes at the back as the real Mineko Iwasaki have written in her book.. But I still love geishas and this is a beutiful thing... for some real geisha dances search festivals in Kyoto especially Gion!

I love the clips but I wish the music would match them. You have the Tea House dance with the Winter dance scene. Al though a touch of Chyios Theme is nice.

I think the japanese culture and chinese culture are very similar, in some things i can find the differences, but in others i get confused..! for example the theater, it looks like both cultures..!
it does look a little too chinese theatre doesnt it? I think she exaggerates the movements too much compared to other geisha dances. Its too "flowy" while traditional geisha dances are very erect and almost robotic.

The Japanese culture is indeed full of beautiful but yet extrem mysterious proceeding. I doubt a western person could ever figure out all the meanings behind it and the traditions.
But they did bend the rules a bit, doing stuff geisha wouldnt do but still its a beautiful movie and they did say when they discovered more about geisha there were more mysteries (very confusing mysteries).
it's the emotion in her movements...u should read the book. it explains it...and bending backwards is showing her control, she's not a whore.if you actually KNEW what a geisha was u'd know they aren't whores. but what can we expect from ignorants like u...

But they did bend the rules a bit, doing stuff geisha wouldnt do but still its a beautiful movie and they did say when they discovered more about geisha there were more mysteries (very confusing mysteries).
