Even only having played WoW for a short time, I could still tell it was a far superior game.
Variety. Complexity. Community.
That's what immediately impressed me.
Runescape was more just...idle fun. When you had nothing better to do, that's when you played. In RS, to play, and play well... it's a test of patience, rather than of skill. To get to max level is a real accomplishment, though. Shame you have to spend the better portion of your life to do it.
The only reasons you play/like RS instead, are these:
1) You can't afford it / not worthwhile
2) You have too much put into RS to switch
3) You're ridiculously biased for some reason
Seriously, WoW trumps in every aspect, save for grinding...but in MMO's, that's unavoidable.
I, for one, found WoW to actually be kind of boring, but then again, RS didn't hold my interest for long, either. My interest in gaming has shifted almost entirely towards FPS and Xbox.

After you max out on character (coupala months) you can start a new one and level by questing in the areas you didn't before, one last note for every realm on WoW you can have 10 characters and 50 characters total. 3 months to each character x 50? 150 months of proven gameplay?

Wow has improved there storyline in beginning quests so you see EPIC situations without raiding. At the very least, this is an improvement that happened to wow during cataclysm.
if you cant afford wow. DONT TOUCH RUNESCAPE! just download the 10 day wow trial. you can only get to level 20 in it but I found it a lot more fun than runescape. when your trial runs out you can download the trial again if you want.
P.S runescape is shit if your not a member. there are only about 15 non member quests and you can complete them in less than a week.

@shibbycoodude I have to disagree about the quests. Runescape quests are far superior to WoW quests (or at least pre-cata quests) in the fact that they are far more immersive and less redundant. You will never get a Runescape quest that just tells you to kill X amount of *insert monster here*. They come in steps, and are far more entertaining in my opinion. For most of them you have to figure out what to do next yourself; it's a puzzle.

@batmann12111 you obviously havent played Cataclysm its FAR FAr from that anymore that was waaay back in classic which was about 5 or 6 years ago now they revamped the old boring quests and added quests full of rich storyline RS has NO story whatsoever its just you spawn on some place called "Tutorial Island" and you're forced to go through a boring ass tutorial. WoW lets you discover everything As you play and even a few quests to show you how to do this and how that works and its still fun

After playing both for an extensive time, theres no doubt that WoW overcomes RS. Rs has weak grahpics, the quests arent as good as Wow quests, The player community in RS is mostly pre teens (kiddies). If your an adult and want real entertainment wow is for you. If u want to play with a bunch of little kids who get ammusement out of any game RS is for them. But if anyone thinks RS is better than WOW... YOUR AN idiot!!!

5 reasons why WoW is better then RS
1. none of the "123 for hot gf" this also goes with maturity of WoW's players
2. RS people are probably sick of hearing this one but... Better Graphics (Doesn't decide the game but it makes it a heck of alot better)
3. Its not just a boring, endless grind the whole time. You level up to 80 and raid, earn money for multiple things like, Gear, Twinks, lots more.
4. PVP = Arena, Factions, (Horde, Alliance) = World PvP, Battlegrounds.

I played RS for about 2 years and WOW for about 2.5 - 3 years. I quit WOW recently for 6 months now or so. I like WOW much more then RS it was worth the money (I find). Im gonna start again when Cataclysm comes out.

Notice that runeshit has no addons and no classification in equipment, also no mounts, there aren't really raids or a boss to the game, and there is no story just a bunch of monsters everywhere and two gods no one has ever seen. i think it is obvious runeshit is not a game even comparable to world of Warcraft.

Runescape has Zero game design in it. There is no skill, there is no role play, there is no fun. It's just an endless grind fest. Everything can be leveled up for little to no purpose.
Runescape is not even in the same genre to MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft. It's like Pong to any 2010 Sport game and saying they are the same.
Runescape is popular because it's free and runs on the shittest of computers. If World of Warcraft was free and could run on any computer, Runescape would not exist.
