Also Acts: "what do i have to do to be saved" Paul washer: " call on the lord, but your joy may not be real, we will keep observing you, if you fall you were not saved" I think there is bitterness in this mans teachings.....He constricts men also
@olliewesley, Paul is speaking against the "easy believism" of today's Evangelicalism that has led to generations of false converts. In the NT times if you confessed Christ, it could very likely cost you your life. Those who confessed Christ knew this and so calling on the Lord was an extremely serious, life changing act. Nowadays, you can call yourself a Christian and have a life with no fruit at all.
young boy: "can god save a filthy sinner like me" Paul washer:" yes, but wether he will i do not know" Jesus: "all who call on the name of the shall be saved" Just how much do you have to be broken paul? If you are truly calling on the Lord you SHALL be saved...
@olliewesley, about the young boy, how do you know if he has truly called on the name of the Lord? "Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of Heaven". It is not simply uttering words that make it appear you have called on the Lord that causes Jesus to save a person. He chooses whom he will save, not us. Therefore Paul is quite right to say that God can save a filthy sinner like the young boy but doesn't know if He will or not.
part 2:...it feels as though you you can never really know your saved with him...i think this is extremley dangerous...he seems so very cold and cautious. I understand his rant against the american church but is he shutting joy from those who in simple faith follow christ or is he creating more man made bounderies and laws because in his own eyes he has seen it that way. Lord help us! so many men, so many opinions!?!?!?
@olliewesley, With Paul you certainly can know if you're saved or not. He frequently goes over evidences of salvation. For example, an evidence of salvation is not that you once prayed a prayer and confessed your sin. It's that you are still praying and confessing. His issue is with the rampant false conversion in our churches. When there is a cost to following Christ as in the NT times, false converts stand out easily. Today there is no cost making false conversion more covert.
I like washer, but something he said is way off in my opinion, after all he is not the final authority on all issues, but a man also. He gave an outline of his sons conversion stating that the elsers will examon his son to see if he could be baptised. but this did not happen in acts of the apostles did it? Jesus told parables of heaven rejoycing when a sinner repents, kil the fattened calf, give the ring. But washer almost keeps a heaviness of doubt over conversion
Matthew 5:32 says "But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
How can this faithful man tell others it is ok for the woman to marry?
I want to understand how Jesus words are nullified.
@pigpink1971, Can we just enjoy the message that the Lord put on brother Paul's heart instead of argue over the baby in the background? Yes it was a distraction but it was also at a family oriented camp were there were lots of kids going in and out the doors causing lots of distractions all weekend. At the time, part of me wished they would take the child out but part of me also didn't want either parent to miss the message. I think it was a great time of preaching and fellowship anyway.
@celldrifter Well, we all already know that life is hard and messy. If my husband had been in that crowd, he would not have been able to focus at all. Is it more important to know by the sound of a baby crying that life is hard or for an adult man to be able to focus on the message? I'd hate for the momma to miss the message, but it'd be better for that to happen than for one or more of the crowd to miss it due to someone else's child.
@Galev12, Growing up in a Christian family far from guarantees this kind of parenting. I grew up in a Christian family and I wasn't parented this way. Paul Washer didn't grow up in a Christian family so even he wasn't parented this way. I have also been a Christian parent for 15 years and I hadn't even heard about parenting this way until I was sitting in the audience recording this message.

@PoBoyX Well, of course I didn't mean that growing up in a Christian family would equal a life without difficulties. I know that no family is perfect anyways. But still, I imagine it's easier when you can just share your ups and downs in faith with your family. But I don't mean to complain, it's just hard sometimes. [btw, it was me, who removed my earlier post, because I decided I shouldn't complain, but PoboyX already replied, so now it looks odd...]
@Galev12, not a problem. I am grateful for my Christian upbringing even though it was far from perfect as will be our own parenting. And don't feel bad about expressing your feelings and longing for something better. Paul's messages on parenting aren't intended to make us resent our own parents but to spur us on to Godly parenting ourselves and not repeat the same mistakes by saying "well that's not how I was raised and I turned out alright".
@Galev12, and I also knew you had removed your own comment but I could still read what you'd written in my inbox. I was going to respond with a PM to you but youtube wouldn't allow me to send you a PM because it said your channel wasn't yet activated or something like that.
I've been going through a really tought time in my faith recently. I know that I have been saved and redeemed by the way my actions and lifestyle have been radically changed since I truly believed. But I recently let a new doubt creep in through worldy influences. I thank God for Paul's ministry. This is so encouraging and I feel much more able to face the giants that come each day as I carry my cross.
@ImSoPeeved, I'm so glad that God has used Paul's ministry to touch your life. He has used Paul to touch mine as well. If you need any help getting over that new doubt you have let creep in, please feel free to comment back or send me a PM and I'll do my best to help you through it.
@PoBoyX in the last few years God has used men like brother paul to really teach me SO much about Himself. Its just unbelievable. i had no idea what it meant to be a man, husband, or father and the prospect of that terrified me. i didn't even know what love was. God changed all of that and just poured out all of this through men like brother paul. now i'm marrying a godly woman that calls me a godly man. its amazing.
@anonazero, that's awesome to hear! God has used brother Paul and others in similar ways in my life. I wish I had heard all of this 19 years ago before I got married. I'm thankful God led me to my wife all those years ago even though neither of us knew what a Godly wife or husband was. I just wish we'd known back then what we know now. Blessings to you and your new (or soon to be) wife.

I wish they had taken that baby out of there. Annoying.

@pigpink1971 The baby exemplifies the point of this message. This is teaching during real life, like he was talking about. It's messy, hard & noisy.
