how much involvement do you guys have with science of speed in phoenix? do you guys recommend them for preferred installers? I'm making it my goal to purchase an OBD1 NSX and then coming to you guys at LOVEFAB. Will be purchasing a turbo kit in the future from you guys
Stock these ate rear tires. An old neighbor used to only get about 7-9k miles on them, due to the stock rear toe-in. Did you guys change the rear geometry to help the tires with all that power, or does it just eat tires now.
Right about 15psi with a GT4294R. I have since increased the turbo to a GT4508R and currently hold the title as the worlds most powerful NSX, at 920whp.
the shaking of the steering wheel was a little unnecessary, if you ask me. it shouldnt b that hard to control a rear wheel drive car going in a straight line, even if it is a turbo nsx.
Have you driven a HIGH HP turbo NSX? More than likely not. Trust me, the car will NOT go straight with this much power on tap, I had an incident this spring because I was too "lazy" with the wheel.
The rush of power can be curbed with VSS boost control, but for this video it was raw unaltered boost.
Its called the ass breaking out everytime that big 42r spools up. Hes trying to correct it as soon as possible, dont blame him, with 700+whp, that car has the capability to put you in a ditch faster than you can blink an eye.
I let the best driver that I know take the car for a spin last night...lets just say that we went shoulder-shoulder because he didn't listen to me. "It's going to kick out, be ready for it!!! Once we settled down, he learned the car and scared the shit out of me while I was riding shotgun." That was the first time I've ridden in the car with someone else driving at full tilt. Scary....
+ nice control (good driving) you know you've got power when you have to hold it on the redline for a second to reduce the wheel slip before shifting up a gear.
Almost seems like it needs a slightly taller second gear. Since factory NSX gears were short especially 1st thru 3rd gear. Or maybe a slightly taller final drive?
Actually, it needs a shorter 2nd gear. The car falls out of VTEC on the 1st to 2nd shift, or down to 4400rpm. With over 600whp any gear seems like a short gear :)
True, All N.A. spec NSX has taller 2nd gear and would cause it to drop out of VTEC zone, however, given that you have doubled/tripled the factory hp and u are spinning the wheels at 2nd I just thought it would be better off for an slight taller gear, makes it easier on the tranny for longevity won't it?
Where are you guys located? West Coast? Whats the Cost of the Lovefab Turbo Kit? Or is it not a kit? I love NSX's, & This one is just silly. Good Shit!
Midwest actually. The above was based on a kit with a few custom bits to fit the larger turbo. The new setup is done and is making a TON of power. Can't wait to get it on the dyno.
thats the sickest car i have seen in years u need to put some radials or slicks on that bitch and really see it move !!!!!!!! great car man beastly love that vtaaakkkkkkkkkk
Sorry if I'm not a gear-smasher. The car is a handful to drive and ramming gears would simply add to the madness. Yes, I can spin tires through 5th gear if I "ram gears" like everyone on YouTube seems to want. How is this good driving? I like my cars to last and smashing gears is not a good preservation method. Unless you've driven something with nearly 800WHP, you have no say in what constitutes "good driving". Don't bother debating, thank you.
Car is very controllable with the throttle foot. Obviously, VSS based boost control was not used in this video, hence why there is no traction until Third gear. I can tune the boost curve so that I actually have traction in the lower gears. As soon as the snow melts and the new turbo setup is done, more videos will be posted.
Sweet. What an outstanding car. I love everything about it. Its very rare to see nsx's attacking the 1/4 mile and this car is a perfect example of what can be done. Did you guys get a cage put in yet? I want to see what this car can really do on the track, with a really good tire.
There are so little ammount of NSXs that are tuned like this. It's pretty pleasurable to see wonderful NSXs like this one...
I love this car and I'm thinking of getting one in the future.
Could you tell us how much work and time it took you to build that NSX?
An idea of how much money was dropped into the car to be able to run like that would be nice too, since I'm also thinking in going turbo when I get an NSX.
Does it have the stock 6 speed gear ratios? I've always wondered what a Lovefab NSX would be like with a Type R final drive. If your final drive is stock, then I guess a Type R final drive would be way too short for a turbo set up.
Stock 5 speed. 2nd gear is terrible when shifting from first because he RPM drops to around 4600rpm, out of boost and VTEC. The upside is that 2nd gear winds out to nearly 86mph with the current RPM settings. That'll give you guys a feel for how quick the car runs through the gears ;)
I had a 4.55 final-drive trans with Type R gears in the car when I bought it, but the Comptech 4.55 FD doesn't appreciate the 550+ft/lb of torque.
When the tires blow loose and the speedo goes from 50-85mph in .5 seconds, you kind of don't have a choice. If I were to shift as soon as the rev limiter hits, I would either bog third gear or blow it loose sending me into the ditch ;) I'll have another video soon with either Drag Radials or full slicks so the power is put down properly.
I am using a GT4294R turbo, targeting 16psi, or roughly 620WHP in this video. The engine is fully built with the majority of the parts proven to withstand over 1500HP.
This NSX sounds Amazing. I'm actually trying to save up for an NSX and tune it up to ridiculous levels. Nothing ricey though, just to catch some people off guard who think that NSX turbos don't exist...especially supra owners
hope you have a good job bro, cause its not as easy as it sounds. I'm going down the same path but not soo much with the tunning. Maintenance, upkeeping and insurance is gonna be a cr*pper (if i'm not mistaken), NOT unless you have a good record and don't plan to drive it every single day like this, etc, etc. Perhaps tinker219 can answer this.
Insurance isn't too bad for what the car is capable of. For instance a new STI costs nearly twice what the NSX costs to insure on a yearly basis.
Maintenence costs are not that high because the car is so reliable. If you can afford the payments and insurance, it would be a mistake NOT to get one :)
Well there we have it folks :D Straight info from an NSX owner. Thats good news to hear and YES it would be a mistake NOT to get one if you really love this car and can afford it.
