Well it gets damaged if you dye and straighten. Straightening without a heat protectant can cause major damage. Don't get me wrong ,you can still get damage by using a heat protectant,but it's less likely to be damaged easily that way. Also I would think using hair spray and palm gels would also kind of make your hair fall out just a bit,since you are constantly pulling and moving your hair....

your hair get's damaged when you use a lot of hairspray or hair gel, he uses wax which does not damage your hair because it's sort of greasy so it feeds your hair more than it damages it:)

Use "pomade". Google or youtube it, and soon you will learn that it's the stuff that holds really well and gives you that slick, glossy, wet look. There are also light formula pomades or lanolin products which only give you the slick without the hold.
