Thank you Berliner, thank you Simon Rattle. Thank you for uploading all those wonderful videos and giving us a chance to experience the majesty of the best orchestra in the world. You make me want to come to Berlin, and I give you my word, when I grow up I will live in Germany just to attend your concerts. Keep up the great work:)
"Wagner played it much faster" . You a time traveller ,mozz? Such an honour for us all for you to share that. Did Beethoven really have that funny hair, too ?
Wagner played it much much faster, but in these days of chemical poisoned brains everything most go slow. Eat natural food and you can even enjoy Mozart....
@otherjoe1234 Well, sir (?), the Internet is changing that ... I'm 16, I live in Brazil, I was not in one of those empty chairs, but I'm in the chair of my bedroom listening to this wonderful music. Regards.
Oh my God! what a horrible version of Rattle... totally inadequate to the composer's vision and feeling... too much candy, it kills all of the noblesse of the piece... Rattle is going to destroy the Berline Orkestra...
para mí, esta orquesta y la philarm. de Viena, son las mejores del mundo. Berliner philharmoniker es la única orquesta en el mundo ( que yo sepa), que ha tocado sin director
This music reminds me of... Luis Bunuel! The great film director used Wagner a lot and this music in "L'Age d'Or" (1930) in particular (if I remember correctly).
This is absolutely inspiring. I love all of the emotion put forth from everyone. This is my dream orchestra. One day I will see you in concert, and hopefully one day I will join!
peacefull and enthralling

Rattle isnt a good conductor for Wagner (much better for new music) but in this piece the berliner philharmoniker are so magnificent and perfect ;)

Brilliantly conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, it goes straight to the heart.

Karajan's Liebestod > Rattle's Liebestod
Both very good though.

This prelude and liebestod is a bit fast, very beautiful though.

I mean that's just exquisite.

I really think Rattle has a knack for Wagner. He conjures that ecstatic sound that few conductors can muster.

I just love the way how Sir Simon sometimes conducts without actually conducting ...

In studying conducting one of the most important things we're taught is to stay out of the way of the ensemble...Rattle is the perfect example!

you better stay out of the concert hall.
