Is it possible to turn into undead or die even with the scarab. I imagine so as when a certain undead reaches you, the message appears, "The zombie notices the scarab renders you immune to becoming one of them. It knocks you down and begins to pound you to death!"

I remember that too. I never knew it was a troll, just some freaky shadow dude that dragged you to oblivion. Does that only happen if you don't have the lantern?

I think he can still catch you even with the Lantern. The lantern makes it possible to see and avoid him. I think. Been like a decade since I played it.

I seem to remember the troll having two green dots for eyes glowing in the darkness at one point.

If I recall they turn you into a Zombie, The Zombie-Rosella sprites are actually pretty cool looking... Real skill is avoiding the zombies without the scarab and the message you get when the mummy gets you!

Yeah. It's pretty scary because he literally appears out of nowhere on the screen, so I always get startled and jump. Hate that damn cave. >.>; Can't wait for the remake. ^^

Is it possible that the scarab keeps the troll away? I got the fruit early in the game, so I always had the troll come after me, but perhaps by waiting you can avoid the troll completely.
