  • It cost only $300 to make... that's why he got the Hollywood contract.

  • you go Uruguay and we'll go our way.

  • The barack obama of film making? like Obama?..then he is going let everything go to hell and hope other news stories overshadow him

as to the film ..its great if the story is true but having worked in the industry i can tell you fake stories are made evry day in Hollywood.. FYI criticizing does not make you a racist no where in the comments was race mentioned..just disbelief that a film could be made for $300 by a kid. and you criticize the US but then why come here to make money assholes

  • @loxleymendoza yes, blame the government, and make sure it has nothing to do with subject at hand... you should blame everyone while you're at it! blame the world!

  • What kind of analogy is that.. The barack obama of film making..?

  • Bullshit. You can't do that with $300. He's got boujou motion tracking, Maya or 3DS for the animation, probably Fume for the smoke and explosions, and rayfire or something like that for the debris. Plus there's all the extras. The roto in that video would take years in AE. Probably done in one of the dedicated roto programs.

You're all wrong. This video can not bemade on $300.

  • I totally agree with all the people saying these talkers are absoultely ignorant about what they are talking about; the film trade, the visual effects, the film industry and what the talent and experience of a commited person can acheive. And just quoting a couple of redneck ignorant babbling he came up with: "...its just a couple of minutes..."; I would like him to figure out only 4 seconds of any of this shots by himself, from preproduction to final product.

  • Really...... i suppose that's why you don't have your $30m contract, of course you can make a movie for $300, if you already have the software like final cut pro or premiere pro, after effects and a camera that has HD features you can easily accomplish something like that, i did a no budget short which is on my page, and to be fair it doesn't really compare to this due to certain guidelines we had to follow, but good for him it gives every filmmaker hope!

  • This cost a lot more then $300 to make. It's way too polished & professional looking.

  • Here is the directors interview for youtube. And no he is not a kid.

    My YouTube Story: Federico Alvarez

  • i realized this is the video that practicly made battle los angelas...... that kid made battle los angelas if u look at the battle los angelas trailer and this 1 there almost identicle and then it came out wit battle l.a. just about a year after ...... thats amazing!!!!!!!! he deserves alot more money for A movie liike battle los angelas

  • People is not ignorant, most of USA people doesnt know how harder are all this things in Uruguay !!

  • @ElGbayRGX I agree with you sir, i also think it has a bit to do with bitterness because Fede Alvarez got this attention can piss some people off, but good for him!!

  • These reporters are a bunch of ignorants...

First they should have gone to watch were the original clip was so they have some backup information.

Second this wasn't done by a KID it was done buy a group of people on which the camera and special effects (and directing i guess) were done by a really talented guy who does this for a living.

Third don't be surprised it was done in Uruguay... People have skills and You all ( so called reporters) are IGNORANTS!

  • Not only it was on 300$ you idiots..... but the 300 were expent on paying some extras to have people running screaming on the screet.. and to buy some adobe smoke effects (wich were like 2$ each)

There is powerfull freeware image softtware arround

  • I used to do some 3DMAX animation for fun....

I REALLY need to RESUME that hobby.... and upload the stuff to youtube....

  • Earth Defence Force 2017 the movie!

  • ) Hold your breath.

    2) Copy all of these steps.

    3) Go to two other video.

    4) Paste it in the comments.

If you can do all of this without breathing you're a god

  • @Bhrutal so am i a god now? you need to hold your breath for less than 2min if you wanna do this

  • Off course nothing is impossible.. If two stupid people can say anything they "think" on TV/Internet/Whatever and make more money than lots of intelligent people, off course 'nothing is impossible'!

  • bloody reporters , dont have a fuc,,g clue of what they are talking about. i bet that guy are the type that say: "oh man we never landed on the moon , thats just a buzz" wnakers

  • @jimmy8boy Don't use a couple of lame reporters to do your man landed on the moon propaganda bashing. Anyone with half a clue knows that no man ever landed on the moon. The asstronots couldn't even make it out of low earth orbit, because of all the deadly radiation that totally surrounds the earth, let alone go all the way to the moon and land on it. You are the kind of person who will believe any old dam thing. Come see me. I got a bridge to sell you.

Keep going bro, don't listen this people, good job!

    Saludos desde Cali.

  • Why are TYTs not able to understand that this can be done on your computer?

  • Just one more good reason not to pay for your software.

  • @fedalvar I saw this a while ago on Anonymous Content's website. It was amazing to watch, and I'm glad you've been given the opportunity to make something out of it. I hope you pull something incredible off with that budget of yours. Show James Cameron where it's at.

  • These journalist are SO ignorant, they underestimate the south america people!

    dont be stupid!

    Greetings from Uruguay ;)

  • Bullcrap! I would never ever ever believe that this is done by a kid or a 300 dollars!!

You gotta be a great time or a great pro CGI guy (like amateur ppl who did the "Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning", and even that team of 7 or so did it over the course of 7 years or so...) ... so please don't bullsh*t us!

  • @WisamSafi1978

It's completely possible for someone with the right software program to make this on their computer.

And you have to consider that $300 goes a lot further in South America than it does here.

  • @jimbrown257 Yes, and it is possible to make a Porsche in your garage for 1000 dollars, if you make it in Zimbabwe...!!!

    Give me a break...!!

Albert Einstein once said "Two things are infinite... the universe and human's stupidity!"

in your case, it is human's gullibility!!!

  • i hate the hosts..

  • @HanzDuztav then why watch their videos?

  • change those two annoying and retarded hosts,....

  • @TheYoungTurks why do you underestimate the talent of Latin Americans filmmakers living in south america? Why exactly makes a guy less talented because he lives in Uruguay and not in Los Angeles California? I don't understand the reasoning behind this. These special effects can be done with a simple rendering program. You can't buy talent thou and hollywood need urgently talented people.

  • Transformers meets War Of The World's, meets Independence Day. Good combo.

  • Gotta love the ''it levels the playing field'' and the plane goes bworshhh!

But yeah the L.A shooting was 300 bucks, Fede already had the program to animate this from a previous work for a commercial ad.

However he's been working with computer animation since more than 10 years now and is gifted with them and has experince in whitnesing directors working even though this people were mostly random people he used what he learned.

May this be a good start for other talented animators.

    Best wishes.

  • this guy is fukin talented he doesnt need you guys sayin that he's work is not authentic

nd trying to bring him down u guy wot? an average of 10,000 views, leave this guy alone he managed 5 million on just he's first video

i regret watchin this now am gonna be pissed off for the rest of the day

  • bitter ass motherfuckin assholes

    go die if your jealous

  • What's new with the concept? This ain't worth $30 Million... This is just to show the creator's camera and CGI skills.

  • I've seen that vid before. It is quite remarkable. it does give inspiration us little guys. If you are smart, have a good idea, work hard, then good things will happen. The director of this video is proof.

  • yea ok this stupid ass reporters wish they were fedalvar !! haah they just mad because they are stupid and cant make stuff like this !!!

viva Fedalvar tu eres el mejor mi pana !!

  • A hollywood set up?????? C'mon that is BS... you people are just JEALOUS!!!!!

  • you guys suck i hate every time im not paying attention i accidentally click on your stupid show fuck me

  • Comment removed

  • It's pretty amazing that he got all that money to make a movie, but i dont think he'll have any idea where to beign using it.

  • what is the video called? I want to see it fully

  • By the way none of these idiots studied for film animation, so TYT please shut up!!! No wonder u ignorants dont go the big leagues cuz ur stupid animated Intro for ur stupid "news or tv show" is ridicously CHEAP what the heck is that??? hahaha IDIOTS!!!

  • @magdielvg dude...i want some of your crack

  • These peeps dont know what they're saying if you really know what you are doing and a good high quality a camera with some good skills this can easily be done with a program called Adobe AFTER EFFECTS you ingorant stupid "reporters"!!!

  • @magdielvg They're not reporters. They never claim to be.

  • @magdielvg U fucking moron no one is speaking about effects i want see you hire all those ppl/actors for 300 dollars ... all those mass scenes.... you dont know nothing so stfu .... everyone who is saying ot cost 300 bucks is idiot like you

  • They weren't actors either.Tthose extras were his friends and the TV reporter owed him a favor. The problem with USA is that everyone wants to get money out of everything, this guys just wanted to be a part of his friend's video he was working on for years, like a school project you know.

  • @magdielvg 200 + background actors, aerial filming, and by the way, this is CGI whereas Adobe is suitable for implementing "after effects" as you so brilliantly put it.... How am I even supposed to argue with such stupidity, You just personally lowered the global IQ average by a couple points, good job *clap* *clap*.

  • This guy is terrible at life. Racist prick. The clip is fantastic!

  • motherfucking racist why cant a uruguayan make a fucking video and get notice from hollywood , oh because its from uruguay ...racist bitch i hope you die. asshole

  • Don't worry, they're just jealous that someone from Uruguay will be making shitloads more money than their sorry racists ass.

  • @betamaxdc lol retard

  • @betamaxdc How are they racist? Dumbass...

  • im from uruguay and i bet he dosent know were the fuck that is

  • This guy is so fucking racist.

  • "in Uruguay?, no way!" the prejudice snake in the USA raises it's ugly head... (you ever been to Uruguay jackass?)

  • The show is called the young TURKS for a reason. Cenk is Turkish. So besides taking a comment out of context pay attention to the video.

  • pay attention whom I was quoting before you decide to come out your face to defend your ethnocentric asshol-ish ways by dismissing my valid observation as out of context like scumbags such as yourself usually do, and don't tell me to watch the same video you obviously didn't bother watching, asshole. The show is called the young turks because Cenk is turkish? omfg please tell me more, CAPTAIN OBVIOUS! I always wondered why this is called youtube as well, please explain that as well, fucktard!

  • well, people with your brain capacity needs things explained to. Besides cursing me out try explaining your point.

  • no i think you are the one that needs things explained to, and to even watch a youtube video more than once so you don't make an ass out of yourself then try to blame your stupidity on others. I bet you get cursed out a lot by your family and friends anyway, so don't act like it's something new. I won't even say "at your job" because you're probably too retarded to hold one down

  • You try to insult me again? I asked you to explain your point. If you want to give another immature response go ahead, I won't reply. But if you actually want to explain your point please go ahead.

  • you need a powerful computer to render those stuff very expensive.

  • I was thinking that too, when I render explosions or even just moving clouds it can take hours sometimes days and I have a fast computer. $300 even discounting software price seems pretty strange given the amount of people in this video. I'd also like to know what will this movie be about, the special effects are good but the guy must have a great story to warrant 30 million. Hope it turns out well for him.

  • ana is fuckin smokin hot dumpin loads

  • its fake i think

but... anything is possible and this guy must be very creative to pull this off

  • What's the link to this? Can TYT put the link in the sidebar?

  • whys he such an asshole all the time. he does everything himself or whatever and does ok, imagine what he could do with 30 mil...

  • the video is clalled "ataque de panico" and the cost of this video was truthly 300 dolars, if you dont belive this look the other videos of thir guy and you will see

  • why don't you put a link to the video your talking about?!?

  • whats the vid called

  • ghs;ofsdu

  • TheYoungTurks are horrible reporters. They are REALLY dumb.

  • @TorterraOats If you really feel that way, don't watch their videos and do not comment them.

  • it's great, but it would cost more than 300 dollars unless everyone involved agreed to participate for free.

  • @betamaxdc even if they agreed to participate for free... all the special effects did not cost only 300 dollars

  • I agree, it was probably a group project. Looks like something like Captain Sky & the World Of Tomorrow meet Independence Day. Not, pretty good editing too.

  • they probably did dude

  • wow i have that exact same robot toy at :40. my uncle gave it to me when i was 6 or 7.

  • usually it takes tremendous resources to do anything like that, so I think it might have been a PR stunt

OR the kid invested years of his time and he's really good at doing it too

  • the "Kid" is a student from university ORT and a career called "ciencias de las comunicaciones" which englobes everything you may see on a tv screen and the best part.... the budget is real and my big brother studied with the guy

  • ok, so how much time do you think he invested in this?

  • I have no clue, I never personally spoke to him but its true what I say to give you a proof the guy is in montevideo and sent a crate engine to a friend of his who was restoring a Ford Maverick and a "thank you" gesture. besides id you type in this site "ataque de painco you will find the original on the creator's account

  • aguante uruguay loco!! XD

  • Take "Clerks" for instance. That movie cost $27,575 to make, and didn't look even a fraction as good.

    ---------------------------------------

But that is the 'perspective' part.

15 years ago 'digital' for the average person didn't exist.

For a few hundred bucks you can shoot hi-def.

  • This girl is a stupid bitch who doesn't even understand the point she is trying to make.

  • what a fucking idiot. he has no idea how long and hard that is to make.

  • guys, don't be so mad because it's so good.

  • Aw Cenk, that kind of disappoints me in you a little. We should be happy for the kid, not think about ourselves.

  • This guy is an idiot. ''People can't do this with only 300 dollars! Derr!"

I have a friend who made a film full of special effects just like this (slightly cheesy, clearly not hollywood quality), and he wasn't filthy rich. Computers can do wonderous things for very little money as long as you take your time on it.

I'm not saying it's NOT an actual hollywood stunt, but come on, to say it's not possible to do something like this just because you don't understand it is idiotic.

  • Its not that a lone kid couldn't possibly do a video like that; of course he could. Its just really, really hard to believe that a kid could do it with an extremely meager budget of $300. The camera equipment alone would cost far more than that, and that camera didn't look like some dingy piece of shit meant for family videos.

Take "Clerks" for instance. That movie cost $27,575 to make, and didn't look even a fraction as good.

  • a few minutes of special effects like these do not cost $300. it simply doesn't.

  • i was thinking the same thing

  • @CopperGaut

Actually all of the CG in that video could have been done for free with free software like Blender. (Look up Elephant's Dream and Big Buck Bunny here on YT; that's free software at work)

So i imagine he was commissioned to do it for the $300.

  • @18CaStRaDoMiS89 Just to say... Big Buck Bunny and Elephant's Dream were done by a community combining their efforts through computers only. But this video has quite a few extras and actors that alone could tip the scales of $300. And just to say in Elephant's Dream and Big Buck Bunny, the main developers still got paid with donations which was several thousand altogether.

  • No there was some live action stuff there and some explosive material sampling. Its not all from scratch on computer. Hell most of the software would come to over $300 provided he didn't pirate it (which he probably did)

  • I for one think this is an amazing and inspirational story, regardless of what budget ...an unknown from a country totally off the "Hollywood Map" creates a short that gains international recognition and now has a chance to break through with a budget and backing in tow. Being an aspiring filmmaker myself along with a trillion others, stories like this inspire me to create more. There are more ways than ever to gain exposure for your work. Hopefully this is only the beginning!

  • i find this hard to believe myself. its a fucking great clip. reallly great. amazing. but, i highly doubt that was made with 300 dollars. i myself, went to school for film, and a group of friends and i are making low budget films. the first one we ever did was pretty crappy, but it was our first, we understand that. and that cost us over 1000 dollars and had no special effects, no paid actors or crew members....so that is why this was NOT made with 300 dollars.

  • great video

  • If it is that normal, I would ask that guy sitting in the chair to go make it and see how hard it really is to create something that is even bad!

  • It was not a little kid who did this. By the way TYT, you guys seem so bitter. Stfu and be happy for the dude.

  • thats great made.much and complicate animations...

  • ojala eso me suceda a mi

  • why is it so unbelievable that he did this with only $300??

And how is setting up a camera and shooting footage any different in Uruguay than it is anywhere else?

One person could very well have done it if they had the talent, the equipment and software and most importantly, the TIME.

The only thing that looked like it cost any money was to pay the people running around. Even so, if you went to school, you could probably get some people to do that for free.

  • I did it with 300 bucks, because shooting 50 people running in the streets, Its not expensive in uruguay. The streets are not even closed... you can see people looking to the camera... And I dont charge myself when I do my own VFX... so, BELIEVE.

  • man i think they dont understand how movies are make in these days with CG, AE and Explosions on Green screens, and its also kind of racist saying they dont belive just

because you are from uruguay, and whats with always looking for a corp. Conspiration? damn gringos

  • @fedalvar

Don't listen to those douschebags. I think you are great Fedalvar! You are a huge inspiration for me.

  • That video is so generic.

  • Smells of scam.

  • Ana jealous much? lawl

  • no little kid fucking did that. Bullshti! bull fucking shit!

  • what is the vid called

  • why didn't they link it, i haven't seen it

  • i'm a TYT fan...but what the hell is he talking about??! why can't a guy in Uruguay make a great sci fi video?!?!

the fact that you can't or it wasn't an american dude, doesn't make it imposible! ¬¬

  • @argentineguy I don't know, they kinda swung me on this one, I mean, 300$? Those explosions? I mean, I'm not an expert outside windows movie maker, but I'm not really sure if I'm buying that anyone anywhere could make such a video with that budget, and the fact that's in Uruguay only makes it slightly more amusing if we're not buying it, not because of the place, but because of the availability of quality equipment.

My call is that the guy had a big budget, but they are selling it that way...

  • i get that i'ts quite good for a low budget...but he said 300$?? ...and in Uruguay?!? like making evn more imposible... that's what i didn't like

  • he supposedly only had a $300 dollar budget...no fucking way

  • hilarious...that clip is straight out of the movie that they are promoting.

  • As sopon as I seen the camera angles and the quality of the film and the giant things right in the first 15 seconds I knew for SURE that no little kid mad this video with only 300 dollars. It's impossible...

  • Where did a poor kid get all those extras to run around fleeing from the aliens. This is just a cheap publicity stunt for a relatively low-budget film. Its is just another "Independence Day" except with worse computer graphics.

I know a guy, he spent like $2000 of his own money and several months making a very professional-made, artistic film, and it won several independent festival awards -- and he hasn't been given any contract for anything yet.

  • Ok well comparing this kid to a guy yoiu know that made a film and didn't make 30 milkl from it is week sauce dude.

Overall though I agree with you...

  • Mechs come and destroys the city. Wtf is this? Anime from 1970s?

  • Forget about his so called budget, and how it totally looks way more expensive.

There is no way anyone from Hollywood would ever pay a kid 30 million dollars just because they want to make a movie based off of his video.

They would only need to pay him if they had used his actual video in the movie (which they wouldn't) and the video would need to be copyrighted (which it most likely was not if it really was a little kid who made it)

    Story = Fake

    Come on people =/

  • Well for one Ijust looking at the quality of the cvideo uyou cannot come to the assumption of "he proly didnt cuz hes a kid". If I were to bet on it I'd say he proly DID get it copywritten.

Also I don't think ANYONE said they were giving the kid 30 mill they said they were going to mke a movie with a bidge of thirty mill based on this ideo.. The kid isn't getting thirty million!! lol

  • lol DUDE are you retarded?

There was NO KID involved in making this. Although it does suck and is very unoriginal, were did he get all the extras to run around scared. Also im guessing you have no idea how much work went into making that clip. So...do you enjoying making arguments from ignorance?

  • Looks like district 9.

  • you are an asshole my friend

  • you can tell by the quality of the video that the camera itself had to be wayyy more than $300. Not to mention like three adult actors and a child actor. This is just another viral ploy for the next bullshit Transformer McChipmonk clusterfuck.

  • wow, been trying find the video for 5 minutes, and still haven't found it. Mind giving me a link guys? :D

  • The movie translated into English read "Panic Attack"

  • who cares about what the kids budget is . You guys are fucken haters . just says that your show lacks everything . Just like all the other people that want to have talk shows but lack to be orginal . You both of you are still not funny at all .

  • Hey TYT next time you use a major chunk of someone elses IP be sure to mention the guy's name or the name of the clip etc. You could be sued for breach of copyright by using someone elses stuff to promote your own channel.

  • @venuecam

no its journalism, thats where the copyright

    falls on it knees,

when you use it for journalism,

    and freedom of Press.

Thats why, everyone uses everyone elses,

clips from Fox News, Radio shows

    etc.

  • If the guy was seriously picked off YT then good on him but JJ Abrams already did this 2 yrs ago. It was called Cloverfield :)

  • could the girl b any less jealous, the guy did a great job regardless of the budget.

  • The producers are offering $30million because they see the guy has talent in special effects, they expect him to make a 2012 style blockbuster for a fraction of the cost & because of the media attection even if it fails they will lose little or none of their investment.

  • its bullshit o.o

  • Seems like a lot of people here are completely clueless about how this works. If you have the software, knowledge etc you do it yourself. A lot of 3d artist do their own reel, short film etc. for portfolio. There are software from camera tracking to particle and smoke effects for a regular PC, you don`t have to pay a studio for CG, you do it yourself and if you`re good they will offer you a job. That`s the point of doing it.

  • @generalscarr

    maybe TYT needs contributor

lol, their research is not that good

  • The best answer for ignorants, if you have talent everything is posssible including do something like this with a 300 dollars budget. Imagination, knowledge and talent is evething.

  • You all are the same jerks who think Photoshop is some "magical computer tool" that does ALL OF THE WORK for you. This is why so many digital artists don't get the salaries they deserve from freelance-work because people think the computer is doing everything for them.

  • Well said...

  • Everybody talks about "3D budget" as if they KNOW what that entails. If you're doing all of the Modeling, shooting & composition yourself, you arent PAYING YOURSELF to work on a independent film. Everytime someone see's CG they automaticly assume it mustve cost out the ass. NOBODY in art school has more than 3k to put into a project but we all had to make a new "film" every 3 months. BROKE. All it takes is an idea, the means and dedication. Look up "Avid Liongoren".

  • Look at how shitty the movie 9 ended up being. Same idea, short video turned into a full length movie, without a full idea, get a fantastic cast and crew, and it still sucks.

  • this was made 3 years ago! you have no idea what you are writing about

  • No, you have no idea what I'm talking about. And looking at the other comments, I don't think you get what anyone else here is talking about, either. I'm saying that recently, they made a movie called 9, with a similar origin, a sci-fi short that they turned into an 80 minute movie. And they didn't have a story that lasted 80 minutes. It didn't work. In this case, you've got fighting robots. Not enough for a full length movie. They haven't made the full length movie yet, have they?

  • You're right, there's not material for a long feature here. That's why Im not making a long feature version of the short. Its gonna be a totally different story.

  • Alright, at least you're not making that mistake. Buena suerte then.

  • I hate when film makers say shit like, "I made this for $300", because that is totally inaccurate.

They should tell the truth. "I only put up $300 and got a LOT of equipment, studio time, production personel, etc for FREE".

Ever since Blair Witch people keep trying to one-up (or I should say down) each other and say they made their film on increasingly lower shoestring budgets. I see this in the industry all the time. These people are goofs.

$300 my ass. Let us hear the real story Mr. Álvarez.

  • @illtrax as an animator, film maker and editor... it IS pretty accurate. Equipment, software an idea and time is all it takes. You're speculating a about a process you seemingly don't knoe enough about to speak on. People watch a few DVD extras and they think they're experts all of a sudden.

The TYT people are speculating as well. You all clearly dont know SHIT about 3d graphics and video editing.

  • @eeedel "You're speculating a about a process you seemingly don't knoe enough about to speak on"

Sorry to inform you but I am an animator, film maker, editor, and sound engineer as well.

My wife, who is also in the industry, took one look at this and called foul as well.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with you about people becoming 'arm-chair directors' after watching a few special features but I am not one of them.

Equipment, software, and time = money. Saying $300 sends the wrong message.

  • If ur around the cgtalk/cghub sites ppl are doing things like this while holding part-time jobs at game stores or kinkos. I know all of the things you mentioned cost money, but if you dont HAVE the money it isnt TOO difficult to finance your project. Not to put myself out there but I have a legal copy of studio max that I won in a contest & haha, adobe creative suite that I got by "other means" so im less anxious than others to call foul about spending less than 4 figures on something like this.

  • @illtrax

not to mention permits for filming in the city streets, (getting them empty) and having extras running around in different locals.

Add that with the post production, and this budget is well over $300.

their just trying to ride the coattails of District 9, with some BS claims and the beginnings of a viral campaign

  • Im from Uruguay this was in every newspaper, TV news, etc. It´s fucking real, believe it or not!

  • Get your facts straight. This "kid" is 31 years old.

  • no way in hell did that cost $300

  • 300 dollars to shoot the "live Action" he doesnt mention the budget of the cg

  • its youtube asshat

  • maybe the 300$ budget was paid into the form of 300$ worth of winning lottery ticket.

  • @DXSXDXSXD

what, people need money to run a website youtube and the young turks needs ad to run their respective sites.

  • the clip is call ataque panico or something

  • If he only paid $300 to make that video then he is either in film school or he is using 3d software that he got illegally. The cameras alone would cost more than $300.
