  • Sprite tastes good with fried chicken and watermelon.

  • sell out

  • classic

  • I corrected somebody at work today and after I corrected them I said "So sorry 7up" They didn't know what the hell I was talking about. I had to explain it to them and then they said "Oh yeaaahhh I remember that"

  • You are the Dragon Master for uploading this!!! I use to love this CM back in the day!!!

  • This was a sure fire confirmation his career was pretty much dead by 1986.

  • Kurtis blow is now a minister

  • @playsbass1969 what you mean a minister for what?

  • @StreetballAttitude church he left rap i know why...cuz they were askin for something called a soul many rappers have left the game cuz of that but rappers dont do that now at days

  • @micknamer what you mean he left because he had no soul? dont see your point sorry

  • @micknamer yeah but i wish you were born or lived these times they the fucking best

  • @StreetballAttitude no i mEAN they wanted him to sell his soul if you wouldve lived my ages in the 80's he was a big hit in hip hop

  • @micknamer ah k now i got it i know he was one of the first record producer wit sugar hill king tim and all them im a huge fan of the oldschool ya know although i was not born in this time

  • @StreetballAttitude he an gospel minister and

    he raps for the lord

  • SORRY 7UP

  • hahahah that was really bad!, I went from the KRS/Shan commercial to this!

  • Bet he made more money off of that lame Comercial than he ever did from record sales!!

  • This is str8 up wack. I like The Breaks without the lime in.

  • They should have had 7up vs. Sprite rap beef. Commercials would have been amazing.

  • lol why did kurtis blow seem like a old man even when he was young

  • @catchfree84 Word this nigga was in his early 20s when his first vinyl dropped but he looked 40

  • @FuccThatShitNigga yea people used to age more back then lol. Back then 20 is 40 now lol

  • @catchfree84 They were sniffin so much blow back in the day. It does that to ya.

  • That guy can't rap worth a fcuk

  • @Cathain78 its when rap first started, wut u expect

  • @dionco92

So how did it take off if it was shite when it started?

  • @Cathain78 nope, it was just more focused on making rap music to break dance to, rather than lyrical technique like the 90's rap and so on...

  • Now more than EVERRRRRRRR.. Kurtis Blow FTW!

  • lol sorry 7UP

  • sry 7 up

  • Hilarious

Nowadays a rapper wouldn't be caught dead with a huge fake smile rhyming about Sprite.

  • @chazzlyboy BULLSHIT! Ill take what is money for a 1000$! (it talks)

  • @OneRyt

Yeah I guess there are those who humiliate themselves for $ such as Soulja Boy. Although Kanye claims he's getting "harder," so getting bad attention at first might get a lot of people to respect him later.

  • @chazzlyboy no he'd just look at u with a typical dumb niggER stare

  • @wdsftygt

is that really how African-American people you've seen act? Sounds like you're the one with the dumb gringo stare that can't even tell what someone's doing if you're looking right at them. And remember eminem? One of the top 3 rappers? He couldn't give you a "dumb nigger stare" if he wanted to.

  • @chazzlyboy whats your point my gorilla face, eminem is a bug eyed nigger worshipping white pussy ,i am introducing the new cool racism chic, multiculturalism is played out and geeky

  • @wdsftygt

So are peace, education, medicine, etc. played out and geeky? Multiculturalism is a permanent and essential thing just like the former 3 institutions.

  • Now more than ever...

    it's SPRITE!

omg its stuck in my head

  • i love the can- id be scared to drink from a can that looked like that today!

  • CLASSIC:-):-)

  • LOL!

  • yo beefin 7 up lol

  • Can you imagine what would happen these days if a rap artist actually took the time to school viewers like Kurtis did -- in an endorsement for a soft drink!? I give him major props!

  • Comment removed

  • how sad

  • thats a big ass can

  • hahaha sorry 7up:P

  • Now MORE THAN EVERRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

  • I haven't seen this commercial since the 6th grade!

  • Dag dudes y'all make me feel old now.

Without question that is the one and only KURTIS WALKER World renown as KURTIS BLOW - First of all MCS (not rappers) to make a commercial for Sprite.

A pioneer who paved the way. when rappers delight first came out I hated it but when I heard "the Breaks" Then I wanted to rhyme.

  • CLASSIC I WASNT EVEN BORN LOL

  • I still remember this song by heart after all these years. I love jingles. I'm a jingle geek.

  • now, more than eveeeer! lol. 5/5

  • Kanye's totally channeling Curtis...

  • lol. looks like him and all.

  • I can kinda see that, but did kurtis have such a big ego?

  • I was thinking the same thing lol

    He sure looks like him

  • I saw this back in 86 when I was 7 years old. Because of this commercial, Sprite is my favorite drink.

  • Haha. I had never seen this commercial before. Kurtis definitely had that marketable voice for shit like this though. Damn, Sprite was down with hip hop for a minute.

  • Longer than just a minute, lol , I remember when I was a kid all the 90s sprite commercials were targeted at black people... Always had a hip hop theme, rap artists or NBA stars sponsoring, and slogans like "Quench Yo Thirst"...

  • A whole bunch of videos state his name as Curtis but just so you know, it's spelled Kurtis.

  • i didnt know they had sprite back then lol

  • fukng delicious i think im guna go get wun

  • How does Sprite have "lymon" but not 7-Up? I don't get it...

  • Because CC/Sprite Headquarters want you to think there is such thing as a 'lymon'. But no, all they're trying to do is prove to you that Sprite tasted better than 7-Up. I agree, but not as much as Sierra Mist. XP

  • Aw HELL NO! Sierra Mist can't touch Sprite! Even NOW more than ever. (BTW Sierra Mist wasn't around at the time of this ad)

  • What have you been taking?

  • Whatever it is Kurtis is taking because he was right on here.

  • No, Sierra Mist was Limon-Lime Slice back then.

  • Oh, so that's why I can't find Slice anywhere these days! Well, can you still get orange Slice? Or wait, did they make Orange slice? Because maybe I'm thinking of Orange Crush....

  • I'm pretty sure they still make Orange Slice. The other Slices from the 80's-early 90's like cherry, apple, and Dr. Slice are gone though.

  • orange slice is right son !

  • wow i haven't heard the word 'sell out' in decades. sounds like an irrelivant word nowadays.

  • actually, this was somewhat a frontier move for rappers, period.

    corny? yes.

    sellout? not so much.

  • I can't believe I don't remember this commercial and I was about 2 (when it came out) but I remember both New Edition comercials from 1985 and 1986. This was around the time Kurtis' career was going downhill because LL Cool J, Whodini, Run DMC, and the Beastie Boys were well advancing with Hip-Hop while Kurtis was considered "old school." New Jack Swing was just around the corner, jherri curls were going out the door, breakdancing and popping was just killed by the snake and the wop!

  • And the bascially sums it all up! Well played!

  • yo i was born in 82 and I don't ever remember seeing cans shaped like that, unless they were on tv.

I do remember when they had 12 and 16 oz glass soda bottles, and the 2lite had this think black plastic peice on the bottom..

  • hahaha, he kinda dissed 7up.

  • Great limon taste is tough!

Makes me want to go drink sprite now.

  • a reference to the Talking Heads as the Tom Tom Club playing Genius of Love, which refers to K/Curtis Blow. See watch?v=WhjZ3TGbvdM Stepping in a rhythm to a Kurtis Blow

Who needs to think when your feet just go

With a hiditihi and a hipitiho

Who needs to think when your feet just go

  • yup

  • he sound like its crack

  • IT IS!!!! naw just kidding but good shit though

  • High budget egg foam there.

  • "now, more than EVEEEEERRR!!!!" lmao

  • sorry 7up

  • very hip-hop. i like it!
