I still have a strike on my account for a commentary I did with a couple of Youtube friends on an episode of Rosario + Vampire Capu2, which is bullshit because Fair Use permits commentary/criticism. I got the strike over a year and a half ago. I understand why people are leaving YT, it's because the people who run these sites don't actually check the videos and see if they are permissible under Fair Use. They just say "look, a copyright claim! DELETE THE VIDEO NAO!!" It's bullshit.
i'm not sure how it works, but although i am partner i was approved for using official promotional images for one video. i'm not really familiar with what is okay and not, so i usually just play it safe and put NOTHING, unless it's fanart i did. but i think people are able to get away with images rather than clips, perhaps? there is a channel called partnerisland that talks more about what is okay and what is not..
News agencies, television shows and newspapers review and show clips of material all the time. If anything, I think it HELPS the entertainment industry. And to be honest w/you... I'm almost more interested in the media 'Joe Nextdoor' puts out on Youtube. It's more interesting w/o (most of the time) an agenda.
Whats up. Not really on the topic but I think you should calm down with telling people to click your ads. If you get too many add clicks they will actually investigate your videos to see if you're telling people to click them and if so they can remove your youtube partnership. Just a heads up, it happened to someone else I'm subscribed to awhile back.
Wait were not even allowed to show screenshots, footage I somewhat get. But fucking screenshots got damm SOPA and PIPA how are we supposed to do reviews if we can't even use screenshots.
The problem I see is youtube keeps thier policy vague on copyright.Cause of the fair use act and the reviewer show casing the material as a free commercial for the product, I have a hard time seeing why they take reviewers off unless if a group of veiwers just hated the persons work and kept flagging the user unfairly. I beilive if the reviewer ISN'T re-telling every detail of the whole story or just showing posting the whole series then its okay.
Mr. Anime, you should check out SHOTSHOW if you want to make sure Inuyasha won't mess with you again. Especially some Interesting stuff from Ronny BARRETT, if you can catch my drift... *wink, wink*
It will be funny if youtube takes down any anime full episodes from an account of the account was the company for the anime for example. Funimation's fairy tail episodes will be talking down for copyright infringement and it was on funimation's account. Not that it happen but it will be real funny though
Well I think YT goes a bit overboard sometimes on the copyright issue. Though a lot of companies are cool with this, like Hasbro. I do see your point as well. Keep up the awesome. :)
YouTube became so powerful and that what happens when you get powerful.
You start being an Ass and don't give a F*** about the opinion of your users.
I mean they keep changing YT without taking the users opinion if that is better or not.
They even keep ignoring user's suggestions like for example having the ability to choose your video's thumbnail and also having a way to easily follow replies to comments.
It's another gigantic disconnect between the anime companies and the people that actually watch their stuff. Japanese companies that are supposedly hurting all across the board will blindly flag everything, even overly glowly positive reviews that are trying to pimp out their stupid shit, and then these companies turn around and wonder what happened to all the fans. It's moronic.
I think that YouTube is being a lot harder on uploaders lately because of the whole SOPA and PIPA thing that's going on. Which makes sense, better to piss off a few uploaders than lose your site entirely. But, it is kind of a problem. I just learned that Megavideo was shut down for Piracy. I understand that piracy is illegal but it didn't seem like a problem until recently. I think that YouTube should allow pictures and short clips, as long as people aren't douches and spoil stuff.
it sucks man when i just uploaded my anime videos bam automatic copyright and i have to take it down so it's virtually impossible for me to use anime clips
@krazyman159 Yup.It's just a bunch of bullshit.Youtube yook down a few videos of mine.I don't know what for. It's not like I'm going to make money off from them. >.>
YT's copyright policy certainly has done a lot of bad for the anime community. One of my friends put it best; the only way to survive on YT to is either be a nobody under the radar with one subscriber or a partner
The thing I hate most is that they seem to Target the lower viewed videos. If you get 1 million views+ they seem to over look things. With all these strict rules in place they are taking the "YOU" out of YouTube. When they muted Tanimechan's Tanime Anime Review #10 Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) video I was shocked. She put so much content into that, and it's because of that review that helped me make a decision on purchasing the DVD.
Although fully aware of the current Youtube copyright situation I continue to post reviews with copyrighted footage and music. I believe that even if I get taken down at least I will have influenced some people some where to maybe give an anime a chance, and that is a all I care about because it is not like I can ever make money off youtube or anything. I guess what I am trying to say is all us anime reviewers can do right now is stand up and ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER!
I know a way to save a video from copyright. I am dead serious. Copy and paste this in the description and it'll save your butt:
Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.
But when ppl just upload some scenes from some movies - why dont they have the right to upload a scene from a video they buyed?
Example: When you buy a T-shirt with an anime character on it and go through the streets thousands of people are going to see it - yet you are allowed to wear it because you bought it.
But when you want to upload a short scene with an anime character the Copyright Nazis get active??
Good video, Mr. Anime. Here's my solution to the problem: if anyone is currently reviewing anime (or other creative/visual-based installments), get a Blip, Dailymotion, Veoh, or other video service website account, put a brief promo (screenshot video with a fixed length) with a link in the description to the full-content (visuals and all) video on said video service website. I consider it a form of nonviolent protest; to be fair, it's the people running YT I loathe, not the site itself.
Yeah the government and corporations are encroaching more and more on the internet. Hopefully things will change for the better but i doubt that. Anyway Im looking forward to your next review.
Yeah, it seems they want to ruWhat bothers me the most is the lack of dialogue. it's just "yep, we've removed your video so here's a strike against your youtube account" and that's it. When you upload a vid you've no way of knowing if it's OK or not with youtube or the copyright claimers. It's ridiculous because no one here wants to steal material or go against copyright, just create nice, illustrative reviews. The attitude is nothing short of tyrannical.
