  • FAKE

  • Ask any real racer, a auto is better due to the fact u get the perfect shift everytime..

  • the 2 speed powerglide is the most popular drag racing transmission out there. more people drag race autos and im not talking about the hondas that show up. people that race every weekend mostly run autos.

  • autos are tuned for 1500rpm while manuel is higher the stick wins any day

  • auto drag car > manuel drift car

  • i drag race my mustang its auto beat manual cars left and right every time they go to shift u gain a car length. manual is not faster by any means my auto will fuck up any manual anyday of the week learn your facts i can tell alot of u in here drive manual because your trying to stand up for your transmission is that why almost every drag car is auto so manuals faster but most drag cars r auto makes sense fucken faggits get your fuckin facts straight

  • Key word is in the description - STOCK. No shit a stock auto will be slower. Get a Level 10 trans. and an aftermarket TCU, and the manual will lose by good amount.

  • your comparing 180hp cars come on go 300hp and above youll see autos will kick manuals ass any day.

  • This is not true and this video is quite old and is comparing standard auto tranny not DSG or twin clutch tranny, twin clutch tranny is faster than manuel and to me more fun to drive.

  • @Davidmp101 not even. Auto will always loose if there the same cars stock for stock

  • The manual has more stock horsepower. /fail.

  • there is a reason they are slow...they are Eclipses.....

  • Regradless why do you need an 03 Eclipse in manual? I have an 02 Ecllipse Spyder GT and its auto. Why? Because either way the car isn't that fast. The 3G's were based on looks not speed. And I'll take looks over speed anyday of the week.

  • I'm sorry but this video made no sense. Yes a manual is going to get a better jump but once the speed starts picking up your not gonna be that out matched. Not to mention the tiptronic going in the automatics. no way he pulls away that late in this supposed race. Hell you can look at the specs online of the 0-60 times between auto and manual of the car and see there's not a big difference.

  • wow my automatic rx8 is horrible its slower then a firebird or a pontiac and i bet manual is so much faster mine's 04

  • this doesnt prove anything? in fact. i believe the auto kicked the manuals ass. and auto canbe just as fast as a manual, but then that depends on the driver

  • people in america need to eat stuff from mc donalds thats why they drive automatics, no wounder america = fattest country

  • @LeetKrew090 im not even gonna try to argue with that mainly because its true us americans love us some Mc Donalds :p

  • Automatics still have ways to go before being better than manual. Sure they upshift faster than a human and more consistently, but that only helps if you're drag racing (straight line speed). On a track, which is where true performance comes into play, an automatic doesn't downshift through more than one gear smoothly enough and even hesitates in some cars, which is why professional racers still use a manual. And autos are still heavier and more expensive, as well as less reliable

  • @psychoticflow1 how many posters here on youtube actually track race? lmfao. face it, most here will likely engage in some stop light to stop light racing sqirmishes in which some middle aged dude in an auto luxury car will rape their dumb asses. reliabilty is all about maintenance vs abuse. in other words i can beat on your stick car and break it or i can ride it smoothly and make it last

  • @highway955 lmfao the autos i was speaking about that shift faster than manual are found on $100k+ cars, face it how many youtube posters actually own one? Just about as many that track race. Reliability isn't just about maintenance vs abuse, its also about DESIGN. Let's talk about that, most automatics BY DESIGN use a torque converter that saps away more power, so its slower. And, they are BY DESIGN more complicated than standard, which is why they are less reliable. Know before you post.

  • @highway955 And note, very few automatic cars actually get better 0-60 or 1/4 mile times than their manual counterparts, noticed i only said they shift faster.

  • @psychoticflow1 thats very true, but keep in mind that these are seasoned professionals that carry out these 1/4 mile et tests. average jo is slow to shift, slow to clutch, incompetent at a decent launch, unaware of the proper rpm to lay a shift. put the same average moron in the auto and he'll do better. in the real world we come across so few people that are VERY good at driving stick cars.

  • @highway955 Actually no, the moron you described most likely doesn't know how to drive a manual to begin with. It's very easy to quick-shift and even do a decent launch, and as for proper rpm, you can learn with practice. As far as so few people in the world that are very good at driving stick cars, don't let America fool you. In practically every other country in the world, manual is what's driven most, just like how every other country uses the metric system and we don't.

  • @psychoticflow1 but these are exactly the kind of people that boast how much quicker stick cars are aka the people that can't even operate them properly but consider themselves experts. as far as the outside america comment; i take it no one is crashing oversees in manuals????? lemme guess all the wrecks are caused by autos.

  • @highway955 Crashes occur because of the driver and circumstance, not the transmission. Funny how you have such a heavy opinion against people that boast heavily for manual transmission, when you are practically doing the same for automatics. What makes your boast any different then theirs? What makes you such an expert ? As far as the people who boast, if a transmission is quicker its quicker, what does the driver have to do with it?

  • @psychoticflow1 who's boasting? isnt the youtube line of the day "autos require no skill". so why would i boast about mashing a gas pedal? you wanna borrow some clear eyes?

  • @highway955 Oh and if you actually read the comments, while some talk about the fun of driving a manual, the youtube line of the day is actually "manual is better than automatic for X mechanical reason," not "autos require no skill." You should use those clear eyes on yourself.

  • MANUAL Transmission is lighter , has better gas mileage , and will last forever I know BMW 1998 with 476.000 Miles and still running strong

With Automatic this is mission impossible.

THERE is no AUTOMATIC which will last longer than Manual.

  • Some automatics are better....Most new ones arent too bad, but GM is the only one thats made really good automatics the whole time (and own a Mustang, before its assumed I'm a fanboy)

  • driver dont know how to drive fast .. . hahah

  • this video professed nothing all companies make different automatic transmission i have a accord automatic and i race a mustang Manuel and i still won

the new eclipse are like bugs and sooo slow... the old eclipse are much faster from 90s

  • now if you build a car up to 500+hp a automatic transmission will perform far better especially from a dig (no clutch + high stall = perfect launch instantly) and the fact any automatic shifts faster than a human being is able to will result in one car lenght distance with every shift. just watch a typical high horsepower automatic vs manual car race and you will realize how desperate a manual driver is right on and after the launch

  • apparently a automatic is slower used in the same car stock vs stock BECAUSE A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MEANS MORE POWER LOSS.

now if you take the same car twice developing 150bhp (for example) once with a manual and once with a automatic you´ll have about 128whp with a manual and only 110whp with the automatic transmission. obviously with a low power output, a automatic transmission will not have any advantage from a dig/roll since you can put this amount of power easily to the ground anyway

  • automatic is slower. DEPENDING on the cars.

  • Traditional Auto's are around 10% inefficient due to fluid friction. Anything that isn't a direct/solid input - drive will always be less efficient and therefore slower.

But your dual-clutch auto's are technically faster because the gear above is already selected and ready to go, so that means shifting is incredibly fast. But that's boring! So manual all the way!

  • autos def faster off the line because theres no clutch lag but in a race a manual def would win thats why dragsters use autos and nascars use manuals...

  • automatic is boring!, unless you drive a rolls royce or maybach.

  • Yes, new GOOD autos may be faster by a tenth or two, but, in the long run, who really cares? I drive both, and the manual is WAAAAY more fun. And I'm only 15. That proves that anyone can learn to drive with a proper transmission. In fact, I don't even have my license yet and I can heel and toe downshift.

  • Are they even racing? They look so slow. Maybe they need some body kits and neon lights. That would make them faster. Just ask Paul Walker, he knows.

  • manual is faster then AOD to a point when it comes to glides and cruiseomatics

  • u guys mix paddle shifting w automatics. what? an automatic means u put it in d and never take it out of it. also, 1000 hp drag cars? wtf? i think this is about average cars, not souped up track only. why do u think race cars r still manual? (stick or paddle) u don't think they ever experimented with fully automatic race cars? they sure did! (and failed) also, if u own a, say, miata, why the hell would u want auto? just buy a buick, granpa! try 2 pry my stick outta my cold dead hands!

  • This day in age. Auto's are faster. example the 370z auto is faster then the 6 speed

  • I prefer a manual just for the sake of rev matching and heel toe downshifting. It's a lot more fun to drive. In some cases it is faster than an automatic transmission, but with some of the new dual clutch transmissions and the technology that is used in newer transmissions, it is impossible to outshift some of the newer cars. But I'd still prefer a manual.

  • @gh2ghost1991 and in a auto u can rev up and place the power to the wheels faster witch gives it a quicker launch and most autos have bad low end but good mid and upper tq and by reving it recovers the low tq and the lose of hp common since in mecanics cant lose tq and hp that hasnt been placed at the drive line yet 2000 crown vic 306 ford racing 4rw70 tran b and m shift kit 340 rwhp 315 tq

  • I lost respect for this video not because of the music but when he said "mad fast"

  • manual makes you faster... a clutch uses a completely mechanical connection between the tranny and the fly wheel.. while an automatic uses a torque converter to transfer power from the fly wheel to the tranny. a torque converter has a liquid connection therefore losing some power through the torque converter that the engine puts out. thats why manuals are more fuel efficient because there is no power from the engine being wasted it is all being used.

  • i agree manual is much faster... i own a manual transmission my self and i notice a big difference in performance. its because a clutch has a completely mechanical connection to the tranny from the fly wheel. while automatics use a torque converter.. which uses a liquid oil connection so a lot of the power is lost through a torqu converter.

  • Alright what about off road auto vs manual I say manual wins unless you are towing something impossible to move like a honda civic towing a semi

  • @blowupuate13 off-road, like rock-climbing or other really steep stuff, I would think a manual is necessary for speed control. On-road towing, the modern autos are awesome.

  • I ASK: has anyone watched a car with over a 1000 HP go down the 1320 with a manual trans?? no.. manuals are great for ricers that have what they think is big horsepower (a whopping 160 at the crank) but show me a Charger, Camaro, Stang, Chevelle, any car with more than a 800 at the wheels go down the 1/4 with a manual..

  • @FoxQuadRider1225 have you seen ryan woons supra? 1k+ rwhp and still using a manny trans..

and manual isnt for ricers... manual makes you pay more attention and its just generally more fun to drive..

i have an 87 supra (roughly 200 whp nothing terribly fast...) and it has the R154 (5 spd) trans and when i drive that i pay more attention than when i drive my dads 08 tacoma *auto*

and auto is more popular in the 1/4 because it generally shifts faster and they usually only have 2-3 "gears"..

  • I ASK: has anyone watched a 1000 HP Chevy Camaro go down the 1320 with a manual?? manuals are great for ricers with what they think is big horsepower (a whopping 160 at the crank) but when u got 1000 at the wheels, show me a clutch in world that is affordable that can handle it..

  • @FoxQuadRider1225 so in your scenario, you can afford a 1000hp Camaro but not a clutch for it? how does that make any sense? besides if you know how to drive it, you won't constantly burn up the clutch, unless you're revving it to 5000 and dumping the clutch for a fast launch, but watch your ATF boil in your auto as you power brake it, even with coolers and stall converters they still get too hot and they brake, plus don't transfer as much power and they slip

  • its proof one guys ass is fatter than the others...

ohh, and i am throwing the b.s. flag. Id like to see you shift [I]any[I] manual faster than an auto can shift.

  • Thumbs down for you ;)

  • what did you record over at :44? looks like a greek wedding

  • the manual tranny is lighter by 50 to 100 pounds. you lose less power to the wheels with a manual and the more control you have of the shifting points, ,the better you are. so manual is always better

  • @pkidro uh, no. what do formula one cars use? (no, it is not manual)

  • @kenfo0 their cars would be faster if they used manual lol. ..... the auto tranny has more parts and heavier. so you lose power to the wheels. as far as F1 cars, they have enough power as is and the way those guys drive, they need the automatic with the shifter.

  • @pkidro your post, like most on yt, made me sad for the human race. i thought you'd take 1 minute to find out what you're talking about and think for a minute. why so lazy? F1 cars are RACE CARS. SPEED IS VITAL, and yet they are using an electrically shifted transmission. If a manual allowed them to be faster, that's what they'd be using. Their transmission allows for full power shifts in MILLISECONDS. Far faster than a person can shift.

  • @pkidro an F1 would be slower with a manual, the auto can shift faster than any person can ever dream of. The F1 drivers are happy to drive autos b/c they can gain over 2 seconds per lap.

  • @adamslurch71 f1 is not the same automatic as a normal car

its a dual clutch manual with electronic shifting

    that mean no torque converter

the reason why manual go faster than auto (for same gearing and ratio and engine) is that the automatic have a torque converter that is never 100% efficient

on the manual conterpart, the clutch, if the grip is still good when fully engaged will have 100% efficient

  • @atomic1234567890 by your arguement, F1 cars don't have an engine, because it's "not like a normal car".

  • @kenfo0 it is manual with dual clutch + electronic shift

and there is a foot clutch for N to 1

  • @atomic1234567890 it is NOT a manual. manuals need clutches, operated by foot, to operate. these commit full throttle shifts...not possible in "manual" without damage. They shift FAR faster than any manual. Tractor trailers have a transmission where a clutch is used from N to 1. Guess what the manufacturer, the truck company and all drivers call them? yes, automatics.

  • @kenfo0 no they dont u fuck they gotta shift thru all their gears and most of them have 16 gears...u dont know what ur talkin about so shut the fuck up pussy

  • @yz250frider1 LOL...is that supposed to make you sound tough, you cross-dressing, weiner-tucking, homosexual prostitute? STFU and go watch your queer eye vids, fake tough guy.

  • @kenfo0 your a pussy...i bet you like ball sack in ur mouth flamer

  • @yz250frider1 not you again. what happened? dvd player broke? no clean dresses tonight, or just no "work" out on the corner? You can't even use "you're" correctly, you homosexual fantasy projector. Shove off now you silly fruit; you are not scary, nor tough, nor interesting, nor even a little bright.

  • @kenfo0 ur a homo bitch

  • @yz250frider1 that is hilarious. know why? "bitch" was a term really fruity faggots used. i guess it hasn't really changed, now that I think about it. Ok, enough of your homosexual fantasies: show everyone the "16-speed" F1 transmission. Still can't, huh? How sad for you. A jackass, fruity homo and know-nothing, you have nothing to say yet yammer on and on as if it will impress someone. Run along now nancy.

  • is it faster than a DSG transmission?

  • is ot faster than dsg???

  • that was a fiction video ....was that a gt vs a gs?sportronics are fast at shifting lile a ratchet shift.i drove 928,911 porches 5 spdmustangs, camero 4spd, vetts also.it doesnt matter.

  • doesnt mattter what you got, auto or stick...thats by the way how you describe it.most dragsters influding a budy has a b/m ratchet

  • I am tired of you dumbass automatic drivers sittin on my ass at traffic lights. They cant park worth shit they sit on your ass in the middle of a hill. I mean is it that hard to give some respect? Why don't you go out and drive a stick. You might find it fun.

  • @SnakeSafety101 I don't understand your logic, what does an automatic transmission have to do with someone parking bad or choosing to drive on your ass? I would think the fault would lie with the driver, not his tranny. All the tranny is doing is shifting gear, the driver is the one not parking correctly or stopping right on your tail.

  • Stop the video on 0:43 looks like he taped over a weddng or somthing hahaha

  • @deathball619 HAHA he did hahahahah

  • haha i see what your saying. who got married?

  • @deathball619

hahaha your right its 0:44 i stop it and it locks like a pop the second or a weeding haahahhaah

    nice one ihihihhihi

  • NHRA cars are automatic, what's wrong with auto. tranny's??

  • Dude, my whole family drives an Auto Trans car, and we can't drive a stick. I wish I had a manual tranny car.

  • New automatic are way better than manual for example DSG,Steptronic 2 change gears in faster than human with manual...

However for many peoples manual give more fun while driving.

  • @AJSokrates Thank you, as technology progress the old school logic of Manual>Auto starts to get blurred and eventually outdated. More automatics are now shifting as fast as manuals and more manuals are incorporating automatic characteristics such as the newly marketed Down-shift rev-matching manual transmission.

  • @DistortedJoy but in standard auto, the efficiency is never at 100% because of the torque converter

  • @AJSokrates Fun and feel of the car my friend =D

  • @AJSokrates those auto tranies would not be put into cheap cars lol, they are pretty expensive

  • @AJSokrates See: Smart fortwo semi-automatic. I don't even think the paddle button things are attached to anything.

  • @AJSokrates DSG is not a automatic - it´s a dual/double clutch transmission (F1 paddle gearbox) = completely different kind of transmission.

  • @HEMIH3AD

    What you are talking about?

    DSG is automatic!

Every transmission that has got P, R,N,D is automatic it can have S and manual mode but it is automatic.

Dual clutch is only only type. It can work totally different but if it has got Parking and Drive it is classified as automatic.

  • @AJSokrates actually - there´s a little difference between a automatic and a DSG double clutch trans. automatic transmission shifts with dynamic torque converter - double clutch (semi auto) trans shifts with electrically controlled twin clutch. it might also have prnd like a automatic transmission but it´s definetely defined as a double clutch paddle gearbox otherwise it´d not have paddles ;)

  • @HEMIH3AD

There are many transmissions with paddles including:

    2 tronic, 7g tronic,steptronic (both 1 and 2) dsg,multitronic, s tronic,tiptronic s,PDK and many more.

They are classified as automatic because they change gear instead of you.

Overall I read all your post below and I mostly agree you but seriously every transmission that is able to change gears without human (D-Drive) is automatic even is it work totally different but it is auto e.g. PDK.

  • @AJSokrates its not about shifting faster its that manuals can shift later than automatics which are preset

  • If I were to get a new camaro ZL585 SS with around 600 horse, I am a new driver to manual, what would be better to get this car with a 560 hp engine and auto tranny, or 585 hp engine with a manual? I am a new driver to manual but I have been told I will get better and the manual would be faster, any advice?

  • @bigrudeth

learn to drive a fucking manual.....there's your advice

  • @bigrudeth ...I'll try to be more polite with my advice than SuperAngryTaco...

I would recommend manual as well. It really doesn't take long to learn, and when you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature. Also, manual is WAY more fun than automatic, you feel as if you have almost total control over the car. Not to mention it's faster. If you're going to get an awesome car like that, don't waste it with an auto tranny :)

  • @NutritiouslyHigh alright thanks! sounds great, and I will be getting a manual and surely post some videos when I get it, ordering in January, should have it around May 2011

  • @bigrudeth Awesome :D and congrats. Camaros are great cars.

  • most car companies will put a stronger engine with a manual than an automatic

  • not every car is faster in manual you noob...

  • The only reason the manual one got so much lead at the beginning is because he dumped the clutch and launched it. something u can only do in a manual. so he pretty much took off at around 40km/hr (with the help of AWD) as opposed to the auto who had to start from 0km/hr.

do a rolling start and it will be a MUCH closer figure.

  • dude if u got the cash then u can make a auto go so fast it will take on 5 manual

  • i own a manual transmission 07 mustang. do i beat other 07s that are automatic? yes. but ask any person that drag races hardcore. most beefed up cars use an automatic. faster shifting and different power band. automatic transmission also compensates for the speed it loses by being faster than a human hand and foot.

  • @BrettesHusband

In drag racing are much faster Sequential Manual G-boxes (no need clutch to shift) over classic automatic g-boxes.

Semi-automatic g-boxes are fastest, but it's more complex, expensive and heavier (Supercars).

  • Manual = 99% in Europ = 5 % in America

American drive only Automatic, why ?

  • @Psychopathe24 Because they're too lazy to learn how.

  • @HoogerDam

ok :) i'm belgian but in 2015 i going to leave in Quebec :) vive le Quebec

  • @Psychopathe24 Bon choix! Vive les voiture manuel!

  • There is simply no such thing. Every car is different.

  • the 70 chevells have the greatest trannys of all there impossable to blow and they take off like a rocket the chevey turbo 350 trans is an auto and most chevy guys that race run a turbo 350 for the abuility to put the power to the ground

  • Rwhp per Rwhp the auto will be faster. The only reason a low power car like this is slower with an automatic is because the little wimp of an engine can't overcome the small increase to parasitic loss and the rwhp for the car drops.

  • @CharlieIIpics exacly i agree 100% an auto will out do any manual as long as they are both high power engines because of the power bands in the gears a manual is usualy between 2-4000 rpm and an auto is usualy 3-6000 rpms its all about the shift kit and tourqe your putting down

  • the the manual is only winnng at the jump the auto is still running just as fast the only reason the manual even gets nthe jump is because he can dump his clutch in an auto you neutrall launch and your putting alot at risk try racing my auto ss nova and i think you will retract your statments about automatics run a stall converter and a good shift kit and a manual will seem like its just another car manuals are just for fun in racing most drag cars are actually manuals look at the 70 chevell

  • wow man nice vid. now i'm really convinced autos are slow based on 2 slow economy cars slugging it out. PS- you do know an auto can redline in any gear right? try mashing the effin pedal

  • in my country 95 percent of cars are manual

  • @oASSAULTo can you say third world?

  • @oASSAULTo

     In my to. Lithuania :)

  • b.s.

  • wow and i bet you were only goin what 30?? wow ........thats fast fuckin shoot a real video

  • Your video is right, everybody knows that manual transmissions are faster than the classic automatics but the new double clunch trasmission (dsg or dct or pdk) are way faster than manual!!!!!!

  • @MrAlpap and you lose out on all the feeling of having a stick shift....if i wanted to control a car with paddleshifts id go play gran turismo or something...

  • from this angle, yes, you lose all the enjoyment!!!

  • You simply cannot prove that manual is generally faster than automatic or vise versa for the simple fact that gear ratios vary from one car to another.

So while a manual might be faster on one type of car, it might be slower on another.

  • @wildbloodydragon You can prove it generally through statistics if the gear ratios are similar which in my experience they always are. A automatic tranny will generally lose anywhere from 15-20% of crank hp going through the tranny to the wheels, while a manual usually will lose anywhere from 10-15% (USUALLY not always). For example my Mustang manual stock dynoed at about 182whp and an auto was at about 173 - 175whp. Also to be very precise manual trannys tend to way just a bit less.

  • @wolf1010 weight***lolllllll

  • @wolf1010 I doubt if the different is that big. Then again, while one car is better on manual another car is better on automatic. It's all just comes down to what car you're looking at man.

Dyno numbers vary too even between the same cars (as you prolly know) because of the condition the cars are in and whatever parts or even oil is used on them.

But it's true manuals are almost always lighter. Not by much though.

  • @wildbloodydragon 100% agree, dynos are about as useful as mail nipples. High power dragsters and stuff are obviously going to be faster with a well built automatic but as far as most conventional cars the manuals seem to get a little boost. My old Mazda 6 stock auto was about 3 car lengths behind a manual one in a 1/4 though. But a lot of other factors play a roles as well as you said. =]

  • @wolf1010 For sure bro. I mean not even dragsters, just a typical muscle car with a lotta torque can be hard to handle with a manual if the driver doesn't know the car good enough. I can drive 4 cylinder manuals no problem, I driven an 08 Si and a 2010 Evo, both manual. Easy as hell. But if my Z28 was a manual...I dunno if my shifting could get the best out of it.

As long as everything works fine together.

  • @wildbloodydragon well he was comparting same cars same conditions

  • @wildbloodydragon manual generaly have 1 more gear or same number of gear

more gear = shorter gears = more time in the sweet rpm spot

and automatic mean torque converter and torque converter mean loss of power

  • @atomic1234567890 Sure but nowadays automatics have the same number of gears. What you're saying about the power loss is true but when you look at the real world results the fact that an automatic minimizes human error have a much more drastic improvement regardless of power loss.

  • if people knew how to drive a manual car in north america there would be less accidents. People are really stupid when it comes to cars. You need to understand how a car works before driving, otherwise no licence. GET MY POINT? NO, then your a dumbass.

  • @BeeFreeish you think a manual will make up for shitty drivers. think about it dude, if you cant drive properly in an auto, then how the fuck would u stay on the road doing more work as in a stick car? if anything its the fast and furious assholes in stick cars causing a shitload of wrecks. everyone is billy badass because their little pissant 4 cyl nas a stick.aww how cute. manual is stoneage shit

  • @highway955 umm romania is not a 3rd world country

  • @highway955

    i think manual is safer.

    1) you know how fast youre going ...if youre going to speed you have to shift up!

    2) if people had to take the driving test in a manual it would weed out a lot of bad drivers

    3) you have a direct disconnect from the engine to the wheels via the clutch. no more "i thought i was stepping on the brake " accidents!

    4) because youre using both hands to drive you cant use cellphones, do make up, etc

  • @coastalpacific 1) are you trying to say u cant tell your speed in an auto? to speed in an auto u "shift up too" ie you press the damn pedal. 2) a bad driver is a bad driver no matter what you test on. most idiot wouldnt pass in a baby stroller. 3) no the accidents would be " i stalled out at the light when it turned green at got rear ended". 4) if you think people dont multitask in stick cars then u also believe bush healed the economy.

  • @BeeFreeish

Yes in Europe i think 90% people drive before get licenses with manual transmission. Me too I am driving from 11 years manual. If you come to exam with 10 lessons experience, it would be hard po pass exam. Sorry for bad English. I am 15 :)

  • @BeeFreeish yesss!! i see WAYY too many people braking in the middle of turns, riding there breaks athe whole way down a hill killing them and people that think hitting your breaks as hard as you can will save your life..

  • @hartattack940 manuals are ALOT safer in bad situations! for example, if your drive wheels loose traction and you slide out (rwd) or wash out (fwd) you can press your clutch in to quickly regain traction.

  • @hartattack940 also, if you were to fall asleep while driveing a manual.. it will stall out if your not on the gas enough for the gear with the clutch engaged.. automatic will just keep coasting to your doom. and people can multi task while driveing a manual.. but its actualy a good thing because that requires ALOT more consentration than in an automatic, and you'll be paying more atention to what your doing.

  • @BeeFreeish How so? A new driver to manual, and even a semi-experienced driver is paying attention to not only the road, but they have to listen to the engine RPM's and clutch, and shift to the correct gear. This all makes you focus less on the road. Also you are driving one handed when shifting. With automatic, you just have to pay attention to the road. So when people say "manual is safer, because they pay attention to the road more", that is not necessarily true.

  • @NateN34 Manual makes you focus more on driving, because you have to prepare more.

Example: you are driving up a hill in 2nd about to shift to 3rd, but you notice a car slowing in front of you. If you were to shift into 3rd you would be forced to slow down and possible not have enough power to accelerate up the hill so you should keep it in 2nd to prepare for the slowing car's next move.

With an automatic all you would have done was braked a bit. My point is manuals force you to concentrate

  • @BeeFreeish

Sorry but that is a load of horseshit. Doesn`t matter if a bad driver knows how to drive a manual. They still are a bad driver.

Also, bad drivers may or may not know how a car works. There can be gear heads that are far too aggressive when driving resulting in alot of accidents. Your logic is simply flawed and contains much to many variables that you didnt consider.

  • @BeeFreeish i agree. big time xP

  • @BeeFreeish

Get your license first. then talk ;)

  • Depends on the car. My auto Mustang beats most standards.
