  • Big Nige !, Big Nige !...Big, Nige, Big Nige, Big Nige !!

  • Check out Big Nige's version of this song with the band laughing with surprise...Classic !!

  • HEY !!! WATCH "JELLY PLANE" on YOUTUBE !!!

  • AWESOME.

Search "Venice Ahoy Taxman" worth a quick viewing.

  • i have never known who the hell is alan bangs

  • FACT: Stewart NEVER played the same song the same exact way. Aside from the basic structure, he performed every song a bit differently each night. He played by feel and feel alone. If he was tired he gave less,if he was pumped it would seem like his kit was going to simply collapse from all of the pressure he put on it. I myself play just like him,i'm just not even 1,000,000th the player he is!

  • @Chrisdrumz: What's really amazing is the sound he got out of those Tama drums. In some recent article I read he said that his drums weren't even top-of-the-line Tama drums for the first two albums but one step up from the budget line! Well, the octobans weren't cheap but the other drums weren't "all that". Stewart Copeland could play a set of cardboard boxes and some trash can lids and it would be pure genius!

  • gotta love the 80s

  • @EpicHobos :FYI it might be 1980, but this isn't 80s music.

  • I would like to thank all those that put these fun live videos up for mine and other's enjoyment...Wish I could contribute more than just opinions, but I really do not know how to..I feel selfish for not adding to how much I enjoy the live shows/songs of these great bands....Eltroim, you haven't said anything that I even disagree with, since the only thing you said was that I'm nuts...At 46, I feel like it bubba....Cheers to your passion. I love The Police also, and this is a kick butt song!!

  • Eltroim, yup. Maybe crazy, but not because I don't know what I'm talking about. I do not take offense. Would like to know who else you've seen. Genesis sounded amazing in '78, but shit until they started playing the art-rock stuff that they were known for pre '83 in abour '96. Rundgren sounded better 3 yrs previous shit arena. Roger Waters' Wall last December way better than '80s. Diff. equipment, but how do you expain Daniel Lanois giving U2 much more depth, chilly sound, 4 guys 3 yrs aft Sync?

  • This version is almost Dr Feelgood-ish.

  • This is much better than the "Geriatric Police Version". Although the newer live version is closer to the record's tempo, I prefer this adrenaline charged version...

  • sigh... they were such a cool band, one of the coolest... Sting and his friggin EGO ruined everything.... forever <3 The Police <3

  • "shredded" this cut...

  • Ah those pesky cops!

  • echt gutes video so schnuffig heute bin wer mag texten

  • The golden days!!

  • Yikes! love the police, but......wow. must note: Even Tempo's were obviously NOT the order of the day here! Lol! yeah, yeah, this might bring jeers, and i GET the whole, early 80's Punk thing. hey, don't get me wrong. HUGE FAN! but, just noticed, this tempo from when Stuart counted it off, takes off like a rocket! oh well.

i know. that's LIVE for 'ya, huh? cheers!

  • @drumdude46 I love The Police. Always have, but consider them one of the worst bands to hear live that I've ever seen. Just my opinion comparing those 3, to many other great bands. Them only having three noise makers, might be a very obvious reason why they are so much better in the studio than live. Once again, just my two cents worth of an opinion.

  • @Mr4suns ur fucking nuts.

  • @Eltroim Hey my friend, since I guarantee that we both are serious fans of those 3 amazing guys in that awesome band, and it's been difficult over the years to replace them with a few others that affect me more as my fav, I just thought that in the two tours I saw, Ghost in the Machine and Sychronicity, that the sound sucked. Only with about half the songs did the acoustics do them justice. Yes, I saw them in 4 diff places.. Curious if you are referring to the reunion thing, not back in the day

  • Nunca estuvieron mejor. Un temazo.-

  • Anyone know what key this song's in?

  • @finisher21799 It's on E

  • einfach nur klasse !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What key is this song in?

  • @finisher21799 E standard doesnt sound right, ill go Drop B

  • @finisher21799 sharp c (c#). chords are d a e. then chorus c# d e and so on

  • This is just.... wow.

  • i heard this when i was 11 , lying in bed with my radio, after this concert i knew i was in love with the best band of all times.

  • That's Rock'n'Roll.

  • Andy should have had his own band - he is better than Sting!!!

  • @debiedog1 yes, he is the man

  • amazing song. i like the offspring's version too.

  • The drums are so awesome!!!

  • oye estinge...tuviste el mejor baterista de todos los tiempos......y lo despreciaste.....

  • Recorded on January 11, 1980...still sounding just as fresh and as vibrant as it did three decades ago... there can be only one Police :o)!!! Love that raw and punky spirit!

  • sry, quote must start "I want to hear..."

    ;o)

  • Nigelxman,

the 'idiot announcer' is Alan Bangs, who gained considerable honour in the 80ies for bringing bands such as The Police to the German audience, and for abandoning stupid 'Playlist radio' in his broadcasts:

"I want thear people who are interested in peculiar things, who take the effort to find things that I otherwise wouldn't listen to. Who play their songs, because the are convinced other people must hear them." (quote from German wikipedia).

  • @Roxslinger Thanks mate for explaining that guy . :-) Cheers.

  • no worries mate!

Just wanted to point out I owe that man a lot of sleepless nights, watching his TV-shows and radio broadcasts.

He would surely do German radio as good, today!

    ;o)

  • I completely understand what you mean Roxslinger and I promise you I meant no offence by (stupidly) calling him an idiot. I have no doubt Alan Bangs is a very cool person and is very well loved in Germany and elsewhere. I hope you'll forgive me for sounding like yet another ignorant American cause I'm actually not. :-) I just did not think before I typed which was dumb. Sorry and cheers from California.

  • Love how Stewart can't wait to get the idiot announcer off the stage. lol

  • Lovin' this!

  • What a great band... what a great music....

  • This is the beat police solo (Andy Summers) ever!!!!!

    5*

  • better than sex pistols, and i love sex pistols

  • Better than sex, and i love sex

  • @68Farley74 think about this track while making love ahahahhhaha :)

  • @police0670 Now I think that's what is known as a Fast F**k!

  • Super, das hier wiederzusehen!

  • B sides contain the material that makes the Police unique.

  • Same for me! I started playing bass and singing thanks to The Police. After a while, and after they were in Torino for the last concert in Italy, my band had a rehearsal too! We still play The Police Cover, just a drummer, a guitar player and me. They are great!

  • the police are the best

  • does anybody know wich bass sting uses here?

    thx

  • ibanez

  • I want to be next to them!!! Or at least among the audience - The atmosphere and energy are so fantastic in this!

  • Sting looks totally fucking badass..... the ultimate energy on the Zenyatta tour!!!!! Sting is still my idol after 30 fucking years!!!!

  • Summers and Copeland objected against the lovesong lyrics. They had "all I want is to take gun on you" being more new wave in the spirit of 78 which Sting in turn vetoed.

  • Stewart copeland FTW!!!!!!!!!!11

  • The BEST BAND OF ALL TIMES!!!!!! I started playing the bass because of Sting!!!!

  • the police idol bery bery good song nex to you

  • Gox i wanna be next to you :)))

    great song :)

  • es bueno este video tuyo es el mejor

  • This is cool, they showed clips on VH1 i think. Also speaking of hot birds, i have a hankering for some KFC now!

  • Anyone have any early Police footage from TORONTO...say '79...80 or 81. I wanna show my kids, and possibly show them me, in the audience LOL, if the footage shows the crowd up close. Thanks! If you do...post it.

  • I actually do have this footage but it's on an old reel-to-reel tape that I got from Stewart Copeland back in '81, I'd love to upload it for you but I'm quite skint at the moment and would need financial help transferring it to an AVI file for an upload.

Let me know if you're interested.

    Best.Police.Footage.Ever!

Are you the really hot bird up front? (Fingers Crossed)

  • TooSlim, thanks for the tip. I'm not sure about helping financially, but there's plenty of freebie softwares on the net that should help you accomplish what you need to do.

But also, you mentioned it's on reel-to-reel? That would be audio only, not video naturally. Unless I'm missing something.

And no I'm not the hot bird upfront. I'm male. LOL

  • That would be fuckin' cool, man!

  • I'd give both of my nuts to have been there! Didn't see'm until '83 at JFK Stadium in Philly!!

  • Comment removed

  • Stewart Copeland= WIN

  • Andy is the best <3

  • the Offspring sucks balls

    no really

  • it reminds a little bit of FIRE from hendrix

  • pure raw energy!!! go stewart!!

  • the BEST song by The Police.... lucky enough to see this bastards in 1983 in Philly!!!

  • damn! they took this so fast!

  • perfectly played and sung punk track, if they just added the distortion most punk bands use to hide their total inept guitar skills then you'd be happy...jung jung jang

  • Andy summers doesnt need to hide his skills with distortion. Hes awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • You know, I'm a pretty big punk fan, but it disgusts me that all the punks slagged them off for not being "authentic" enough, for knowing how to play their instruments, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If being musically excellent equals not being authentic, then I'd rather watch this phony band then any of the rest. The Police were the best!!

  • Police isn't punk.... just this song

  • Thruth hits everybody has a punk touch too...but yeah police ain´t punk

  • No it doesn't, just the beat.

  • need some airbags or a good parachute after this energy rock

  • rock

  • Great clip!

  • Simply fantastic. And Andy´s Telecaster has great sound! Thanx for these videos!

  • alan bangs uses too much bongs! he looks like high!!!

  • Sting's mullet is so awesome in this video.

  • Pure raw Police. Excellent! And if you are like xpesterdrivex, I could care less for your comments. This one is obviously for die hard fans. So xpesterdrivex? If you come onto another Police video, don't comment because you are making a fool of yourself!

  • they weren't into that at all..

  • I'm growing my hair like Sting's in this video!!!!!

  • Nice

  • Quais sao as musicas mais Hard-Rock dos Police? Noutro dia ouvi uma na radio muito fixe..

  • viva andy summers copón ya

  • awesome

  • THey just cant pull this song off....

The original is much more fun

  • Amazing! I am going to see The Police tribute band, Invisible Sun on Friday, Dec. 5. They are playing at Frank Cariola's Sundance in Rocky Point,NY. Thats 60 mile drive from Manhattan (90 mns). The Pretenders/ Cars tribute band , Talk Of The Town are also playing that same night. Bring back all the great music. I love The Police.

  • Best song on D'Amour, along with "Roxanne", "So Lonely" and "Can't Stand Losing You".

  • siik i can play this song on guitar xD and tht fast xD

  • Both Andy and Stewart thought that the lyrics did not have enough edge in them since it was time of new wawe and punk. I remembered it wrong - it was "I am going to take a gun on you"

They tell it in the booklet of "Message in a Box" :)

  • awesome!

    love the energy of this...

  • i love this song

  • Andy Summers is the best.

  • sting is better he wrote all the songs and u no it and if ur talkin bout guitarst hendricks is the best and my favorite is kurt cobain but andy summers is good u no he use 2 be in a band called the animals

  • Sorry but I still thinking that Andy Summers is the best. He's an incredible guitarrist, and he's the escencial piece of The Police.

  • Fantastici !!!

    Sting... e grande Stewart Copeland!!!

  • old scool police, the best!!!!!!!!!

  • lol impossible to understand unless you already know what he says at his solo but i love justlike that!!!

  • I wish I was there :(

  • copeland power

  • One of my fave Police...Wonder if they ever made a promotional vid for this song...This "Live" version rocks!!!!!!

  • Copeland and Summers hated the lyrics and suggested singing "all I want's to take a gun on you" instead Sting refused and the rest accepted if screamed :)

  • amo este tema :D

  • These guys were so freaking talented and professional it's almost discouraging for budding musicians.

  • hahaha, I hear that man = P

  • i love playing this on rockband.

  • Will I ever remember this song, this way forever? Or will I be destined to repeat the last song from the last tour forever???

I love the police, but I'm starting to think they tarnished their legend...

  • Andy is awsome on this

  • I love the drums on this song.

  • This is the TUNE that THEY Closed With Last Night at SPAC, SARATOGA SPRINGS NY 8-01-08! It was an interesting song to use, If ya didn't follow this Band From the Beginning, Ya wouldn't have known this Tune...But Us DINOSAURS KNOW IT WELL!

  • Yeah, they were amazing in Toga, I was there too!

  • great i heard dis from rock band

  • outstanding song

  • going to see them aug.1

  • I Love this xD

  • a great song however at about 1:05 it seems like he screwed up

  • alan bangs.......men

  • I will pull back what I said about Next To You. Great song man! VIVA POLICE

  • All i want is to be NEXT TO YOU YEAH!

    Great Song

  • Next to you, is so stressing, but i like most of the other police songs..

  • Forget all the untalented punk crap of that time. All you need is The Police.

  • I love the Police!

  • @lordtrax8

Me 2, so be prepared for rocking in Belgrade :))

  • what a bomb!

  • i saw the concert may 20, last concert ever in the woodlands pavillion.

its really sad that they are leaving.

  • Why did i provoke such a negative response on the riff comment, i'm not detracting from either song! Lighten up on me! :)

  • I saw them on the 23rd BEST CONCERT EVER

  • I'm gonna see them live on 24. 6. 2008... Police rocks, mates!

  • i luv this song an i luve playing it on rock band

  • me 2

  • hi, now i am totally devoted to both U2 and The POlice, but i can't help noticing the middle riff of this song bears a striking similarity to that of Vertigo. Now it's not my place, to bring a plagerism order down on U2 nor would i want too, (i'm also Irish) but it's a talking point nontheless, i'd love feedback on this, in the hope i'm not tone deaf.

  • Hey. Are you talking about the riff during the verse at ca. 2:15? It does sound similar, but that's because a lot of songs today are written around the same chord-progressions... I noticed it when I started playing music. It's really amazing how two (or more) songs, built around the same rhythm/chords can become so different, when you add details like melody, guitar tone, singer's vocal tone, effects, style of performance, etc... It's not plagiarism, though, it's hard to make something new!

  • thnks for getting back to me! yeah i agree! i play semi-professionally in a dublin-based band! i guess music is just like every day language, we all speak the same common words but not in the same order or with the same accent, but we can all add our own originality and individualism to what we say!!! thanks again!!!

  • i cant wait...im gonna see them live in less than a month!!

  • It won't sound like this, I can assure you.

  • well, actually, i saw them two or three days ago, and while they didnt sound quite like this, they were pretty damn good. i mean, they really got into it.

  • uhhh... didn't they break up?

  • yeah but i guess they got back together considering im gonna see them in concert :)

  • i love stewart's style

  • sting has a really big skill

ps hes really name is gordon summers

  • Great thing about this performance is that there is nothing sloppy about it! Devoid of studio proofing and editing, the boys are jamming out hard and fast in a live setting. Go figure, they are a fucking rock band! Stew and sting are directly in sync and Andy's guitar is definitely in tune. The Police are one of the greatest live acts ever. Their energy, particularly in this performance is palpable.

  • drummer has good skills with hi hat

  • copeland best drummer ever

  • who said "ah oh" while the guy was talking?

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE <3

  • yeah

  • This song is the beast on drums in Rock Band.

  • deja vu!

  • This song is the beast on drums in Rock Band.

  • c ro de la merde !!!!!! C pourrit

  • 95% chance I'm seeing The Police in concert in July and I hope they place this song and Truth Hits Everybody. :)

  • their not that good live, but still, they are one of my favorite bands

  • Buckcherry fucking sucks, The Police sing this song better than anyone. One major reason why, It's their bloody song. I love how all these wannabe bands cover Police songs. Goes to show you just how influential they are and always have been.

  • foo fighters covered this really really well...stewart was on drums and taylor hawkins was on vocals

  • Are you fucking kidding me? The Police are unreal on a live stage...What and where do you get your opinion? Clearly you have not seen them perform other than over your speakers. They are the most exciting, exciting and innovative live band in history.
