I can not believe it has been that long ago. I was in this damn place when the doors gave way. I used to work for the Pass but have moved to a different city now. I never want to relive that day.
I live in the pass...my step dad, Perry, is a volunteer fireman...he was at the fire station on second street durring Katrina...they are finally starting to rebuild the library
i live in pass christian. down the road from this library. we skate there sometimes now =) pass christian has really made a come back though since the storm.
To all of you who came to help us: I live in Pass Christian and we so appreciate all of your help. You are all awesome:) Thank you, thank you, thank you. We'll never forget you!
I was in Pass Christian doing relief work during March of 2006. I really wish I could have seen the town before Katrina. The library in this video sort of served as the relief headquarters while I was there. I'll be going to New Orleans this July and I hope to take a day to go back to Pass Christian.
The library is still there. Here are some photos I took while I was there: http://flickr.com/photos/dysolution/tags/library
The police tried to shoot out the windows, but the glass turned out to be bulletproof. To my knowledge, all of the police that were in there survived, because they were able to break a door with a chair and swim out.
oh Lord, this brings back bad memories.

lol, I don't know. He could remember EVERYBODY'S name though... if that helps.

Are you talking about a resident of Pass Christian or a hurricane relief worker?

I know a relief worker named Neil that came from Baraboo, WI, in Feb. 2006 for about a week. Are you talking about that Neil?

Wow, what an amazing video. Another testament to the power of libraries (and librarians, of course!) Lisa from Illinois (Children's Librarian)

WOW, this was so incredible. I'm a librarian, and I can't believe how tough that building is. Is it still there? Did everyone in there get out OK?
