Why do they have to be in any category? Why must people go to such lengths to categorize bands and music? You like it right, so shouldn't that be enough? Unless you work at a record store and you have to categorize then I guess, but Best Buy only has like 4 sections...rock, rap, soundtracks and dance. Guess what? Dashboard is in rock/pop just like slayer is so there.

wtf ? what are you guys hatin ? yeah his hair looks kinda wierd, but he's hella hawt ! aha and fyi emo does not always have to mean ur typical wrist-cuttin-eyeliner-wearin-s­tay-in-the-shadows person. And i do sorta agree that they should be in the 'acoustic/alternative' category, but then again some songs in that category don't make any sense even if their lives depended on it ! unlike chris's emotion-packed songs. So yeah, Dashboard Confessional kicks ass anyday !

It's Post-Emo, a genre that was the end of popularity for "good emo", then Jimmy Eat World sold out and MTV got the idea to offer other Post-Emo bands contracts and thus, Nu-emo aka "emo" was born.
