I never heard any World war II veterans complaining about all the WWII games they make all the time. So why should anyone complain about this game just because it's depicting a modern and on-going conflict?
War is always the same, it will always be a death-sin and will always be terrible. But there is a difference between real war, and video games...
When I read casualty reports like "48 dead Marines, 1000 dead insurgents", I think of how World War 2 was much, much bloodier in urban warfare and how we keep making games of _that_ without people pissing everywhere.

Actually the death toll for americans in both battles of Fallujah is nearly 200 KIA, and hundreds more of iraqi forces (Wikipedia). On another note this game seems interesting, but I 'd prefer if we could play as an Insurgent too. I'm dead tired of having to put up with gung-ho jarhead talk on my FPS games...
i think the second a real marine is on board that was in that battle you loose all credit to say this shouldn't be realesed. how dare you tell that marine how he can tell his story of what happened.

This is an educational video game, it's meant to be educating those who haven't gone into the war, it's meant to be respecting them and showing how hard their life was in the battle. I don't see what's wrong with it, it's like the same as a civil war re enactment except in a video game. Are soccer moms really this dumb?
I like shooting games. But i can stay in touch with reality. No videogame can trivialize death of people. It is the user that makes the thinking. And as much as i feel sorry for the woman in the video (and others) you have to understand - he enlisted, agreed with the risk of death and thats it. Everyone comes back, difference is only in which plane. Maybe to make a compromise i would mention all names in the ending credits, period. BF3, MW3 and others are no difference and noone said a word....
they should have seen this coming. then they would have been able to tweak the "official" title and maybe even the name of the setting of the game. if they can release games like bf3, modern warfare, and medal of honor (which all feature the same type of setting, gameplay, and gore seen here at one point or another), it just goes to show how stupid people are in deciding what to be outraged about.

I can understand why people would be upset about, honestly I agree that this games release is a bit in sensitive, when it comes to Vietnam games and WW2 games its out of the range of offensive, but to make a video game of something that's so recent and currently active is like making a 9/11 joke in 9/12 the same year, in time this game will me ok for release but its still to soon, it's still a fresh wound that needs more healing.
I can't believe an accurate and tactful game like this gets shafted by the publisher when games like Call of Juarez: The Cartel get released without too much of an issue. That game depicts a real conflict in an incredibly inaccurate and racist manner yet no one cares because it doesn't offend the white majority.

@danilocmsm It's probably because SDIF is more character specific where as in WWII shooters you're playing as a completely made up character instead of someone's family member who was killed somewhere in the past 1-8 years. That's just my hypothesis, but still, it's just a video game and those who died made a choice. Since March 2010, the game has been ready to be released. Unfortunately there aren't any publishers willing to pick this game up. The only publisher I think that has the balls to publish this would be Rockstar. Considering that almost every game they publish has some sort of controversy, you'd think that they'd have no problem picking up this game.

y was this game canacled when the game Medal of honor (2010) was not only based on 1 real event but multiple real events every mission took place in real life hell they even used the codename of a real Navy SEAL "Dusty" watch the credits when the credits get to the end look in the special thanks section and it says Dusty as one of the names also the missions that the SEALs preform are a hell of alot more dangerous then the battle of Fallugia (PT. 1/2)

40 americans dead and it's a national absurdity that a videogame depicting the event is being developed. For fuck's sake America, countless wars throught history with a million times more casualties, throughout many different countries have been remade in videogames and you don't hear people complaining! Guess what.. it's a videogame! It doesn't represent your son, grandfather or grandmother in the middle of the war! It tells a story. A very informative, educational and emotional story.
I guess the lives of over 40 million people 50 years ago is less tragic than 100 lives during present times. This stuff ticks me off....if anything, modern FPS'ers have given me a deeper perspective of just how tough soldiers (of ANY era) have it, and has given me a deeper respect of those who risk/ed their lives every day. Sadly we have a whole generation of people who are unwilling to get an informed viewpoint on games. REALISTIC war movies rarely glorify war, the same is true for games.

@grooks10 I'm the only guy left on Earth that hasn't played Black Ops yet (I don't play well with others) It's interesting that here in the U.S. we have a problem with violent games, yet I can turn on daytime TV and watch the cast of NCSIFBCIA: North Dakota dissect a fake (completely realistic) corpse and then see how it was dismembered by the killer in slo-mo close-ups. Japan has the goriest most violent games/cartoons in the world & also one of the lowest murder/violence rates of any country.

As a soldier who fought the Iraq war from day I'm planning to use my G.I. BILL to start my career in the game industry with the goal to get hired by Ubisoft & bring the Brothers in Arms series into the 21st century. I actually served with the 502nd so I'd be a subject matter expert in modernizing the franchise, telling the 502nd's story in Iraq. Even families of buddies I lost like the idea. Dunno what everyone's issue is, just let the Marines tell their story in their favorite medium dammit!

@Totallyfizzle Actually Medal of Honor did incite controversy. Mostly because in the multiplayer you can play as "insurgents" and fire on American troops. Its almost got banned because of that.

The issue was that the various military branches didn't feel comfortable selling a game where players could play as the Taliban specifically. They didn't like the idea of a game like that being sold in the PX or in the NX (Basically military versions of Walmart except tax free for the service members & their families). So EA folded & changed the name to OP4 at the last second so they could sell it on posts & bases.
As a Marine, this game being considered offensive is BULLSHIT. How about Black Ops? Why aren't vietnam vets freaking out about that? Nobody freaks out over games where America is invaded and destroyed like Resistance or Homefront, but "Oh my God my son's cousin's friend died in Fallujah that's so offensive!"

@ScarletSnake This game takes the exact details of the battle in fallujah. While the other war games involving ww1, ww2, and vietnam were not followed correctly. they either added zombies, monsters, or fake characters. I think "6 days in fallujah" follows a squad that was in the heat of the battle.

I can understand why people would be upset about, honestly I agree that this games release is a bit in sensitive, when it comes to Vietnam games and WW2 games its out of the range of offensive, but to make a video game of something that's so recent and currently active is like making a 9/11 joke in 9/12 the same year, in time this game will me ok for release but its still to soon, it's still a fresh wound that needs more healing.

The only publisher I think that has the balls to publish this would be Rockstar. I guess the lives of over 40 million people 50 years ago is less tragic than 100 lives during present times. This stuff ticks me off....if anything, modern FPS'ers have given me a deeper perspective of just how tough soldiers (of ANY era) have it, and has given me a deeper respect of those who risk/ed their lives every day. Sadly we have a whole generation of people who are unwilling to get an informed viewpoint on games. REALISTIC war movies rarely glorify war, the same is true for games.

As a soldier who fought the Iraq war from day I'm planning to use my G.I. BILL to start my career in the game industry with the goal to get hired by Ubisoft & bring the Brothers in Arms series into the 21st century. I actually served with the 502nd so I'd be a subject matter expert in modernizing the franchise, telling the 502nd's story in Iraq. Even families of buddies I lost like the idea. Dunno what everyone's issue is, just let the Marines tell their story in their favorite medium dammit!

The issue was that the various military branches didn't feel comfortable selling a game where players could play as the Taliban specifically. They didn't like the idea of a game like that being sold in the PX or in the NX (Basically military versions of Walmart except tax free for the service members & their families). So EA folded & changed the name to OP4 at the last second so they could sell it on posts & bases.

@ScarletSnake I will agree with you on that one.. but think of this way. those ww2 games and such is history.. done pass. like 40 yrs and under..tthose games are 50% true and 50% bullshit understandable in a game and acceptable. we americans gotten use to it.. but a war game that takes place during a war thats happening now. i can see why they say its too much. during the time its happening your son dies in the line of duty in iraq.. then theyre making a game out of it. causes and outbreak
