Odd you don't use an excluder. -- are you running all those boxes for the honey flow only -- how many do you winter with (not that you get a real bad winter there).
ohn, if you want to use illegal chemicals in your own hive during a nectar flow, so be it. But do you have to broadcast it across YouTube???
The ingredient in the bait he's using is fipronil which is illegal to put into any honey bee colony. Wax, pollen, and honey from colonies in which bait containing fipronil have been used, just like the one John used, were found to contain fipronil. The next time you take a spoonful of honey or pollen, what else might you be consuming.

I use the screened bottom board with an oil pan underneath and it does work well for the majority of beetles. Sometimes when i work around the frames i see 2 or 3 hiding on the corners, kinda hard to control them without these little traps.
I might give these a shot although the situation on both of my hives seems under control.

looks like combat roach gel..Boric Acid is also a powerful beetle killer that beekeepers have use like he had mentioned, but being a fine powder I dont like usin it near bees.
I used a roach gel that contains Boric acid, that may be what he is using.
The beetle does no damage, it is the larvae of the beetle that do the damage, the larvae will tunnle through wax eating honey pollen brood and making a huge mess and causing the colony to die or abscond
all the bad things come from this country....fuck
poor bees

The only good beetle is a dead beetle.
I need to look into theses traps if they work this well, just lost a weak hive to them. Very dis-heartening having only two hive to begin with.

Where do you get these, I want them NOW!! LOL I'm not having luck with corrplast signs and Borax. I have lost 6 colonies to beetles this year.

Also the exposed honey starts to ferment running everywhere. We call it Sliming the hive. Other bees won't hardly even try and rob it out.
Can be cleaned but what a messy job.
I'll set the boxes right on top of ant mounds and let them do a bunch of removal before starting.
