Looks look at PbAT, Pbat always says that "If I dont enjoy playing a game, I wont make a good video" So I can assume that NC didnt enjoyed this game, thus, made a very bad LP. But I gotta say, all of his yelling and screaming was kinda funny.
I remember a good majority of TGWTG fans finding no entertainment value from this when it came out to the point where he made an apology response a week later. It's not even meant to be taken seriously as a genuine attempt to LP; the joke was supposedly that his character thinks LPing is a no effort thing and anything would work, to which it turns out to have no payoff of making an ass of himself. He explains this in full detail in his commentary of this LP. So the guy made a bad vid, who cares?
The commentary doug is doing in this let's play is the kind of commentary that goes on in my head when I'm playing a hard video game. However, the difference is that I don't say it out loud, I don't record it, and I don't upload it to the internet.
Doug also does Bum Reviews, Video Game Confessions, Ask That Guy, Artist Alley, Merry Zodmas, & Comedy Sketches with all the reviewers on his website. He also blacked out his website for a day to raise awareness of the S.O.P.A. Act. If you're not a fan because you think he isn't funny fine, but to say all he does is scream at his camera is bullshit.

This was a pretty terrible video, but the Critic at least recognized how bad it was. He could've done what a lot of internet reviewers would do and bitched at his fans, but instead he was mature about it.
I personally like the Nostalgia Critic. Yes he might over do it a bit (this video is a good example) but he's alot more entertaining than most movie reviewers and he actually seems like a cool and fairly intelligent guy when he's not doing the Nostalgia Critic bit.
Also everyone has there shtick; AVGN curses alot, restupurae treats every video like the bane of there existence, and NC screams alot.

It's okay if you don't like NC. That's fine, but for the love of Diabetus, stop actin' like you need to announce your hate as if it means you get approval and a massive amount of likes. If you don't like it, fine. Good for you, just keep it at that and move along. I don't really like Film Brain's reviews due to his tone of voice, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go to every video related to him announcing my dislike as if it somehow means I'm infinitely better than him and his fans.
Apparently, all it takes is for one single video for people to stop watching someone, even though they continue their old shtick afterwards in response to realizing their fault. Similarly, it also takes one video for new people to blanket one's entire performance, even if it's on something they never normally do, if, at all. First impressions are a given, but with the internet, not a lot of people aren't nearly smart or mature enough to look past that.
Just read through more than half the comments and really, all this hate is really unwarranted, although, I can't help but feel that some of the people are just angry over him ranting on movies based on games, which summarily pissed off a lot of people commenting on this channel. Apparently you have to feel proud about not liking NC anymore or having some pretty ridiculous, if not stingy standards about certain things
Look, I like the NC but I HATED his LP, it was terrible and unprofessional compared to what he usually is good at. However, this video is not an excuse for people to bitch and moan about how stupid the fans are for liking his videos.
I actually like the Nostalgia Critic. Also the cinema snob. Where else would I hear about the ridiculously bad movies ? He might be same-ish, but aren't all people like that? All let's players, all reviewers? It's the way a certain person is. You can't just get a completely new personality every single day. You will have your own style and your own way of doing things. For me, as I watch a lot of people I liked them. The trick is not to over-watch just one of them.

I am a former Nostalgia Critic fan, but thankfully I got over that. I used to like his videos, but after a while, it dawned on me that they were all the fucking same, with all the same jokes.
I watched this retsupurae, and it's amazing to see that he's still doing the EXACT same schtick as he was doing when I stopped watching a year and a half ago, right down to yelling "SHUT UP" awkwardly at the end of sentences. Not a single thing has changed.
@TheBrianJ I think Nostalgia Critic is a funny guy, and many of his reviews are still funny, like The Batman and Robin one, but for me, his humour is just a bit obvious and smug these days. He is starting to remind of that attention seeker kid everyone knew at high school who would just shout loudly and do goofy things to get a laugh. I like humour, but his videos offer little insight or analysis, so they feel kind of empty. He's no Red Letter Media, that's for sure. But he's alright.

I used to be a fan of this guy. And do you know how I found out about him? By seeing him doing a video where he called out on the AVGN copying him (which was apparently a gag). So part of his rise to fame involved leeching off of someone else. A class act.

The fact that NC had ANYONE, much less tons of people, on his side for the "competition" should be testament enough to that.
NC was "leeching" off of AVGN about as much as this retsupurae is "leeching" off of the Nostalgia Critic (aka: not at all).
@BagelTanker I never watched a lot of his work. I didn't play a lot of old NES/SNES games when I was a kid, so the "man remember those bullshit old games and how dumb they were" schtick doesn't resonate with me, and I think his performance as a comedian is lacking.

He makes poop jokes that I would have looked down on in middle school, and the whole "angry gamer" thing hasn't produced anything new since his second video. On the other hand, when he's calm and informative, I really like AVGN. He's introduced me to some cool movies and if he did LP's in the same style, I'd definitely watch him. @cramernjen He is decent in that he is good at the games and is informative and does editing. But he isn't entertaining though, and I usually watch LP's for entertainment more than walkthrough's but that's just me.
I don't get what the fuss is about. The idea was that the Nostalgia Critic tries to do a "Let's play", because it's so easy, and discovers that it isn't easy at all - I found the idea funny. The execution is lacking, because the video is a little bit too long overall, but I was amused enough by it. And Imo it highlighted very well how much work and talent really is behind something which looks so easy.

I would just like to point something out to everybody. Sure, retsupurae was a little mean in this video, but they were right. Everything he does is same. You can't tell me he DIDN'T scream like a dying cat in his review of "Batman and Robin." Sometimes what passes for entertainment really is depressing rather than amusing. I remember most of Slowbeef's LPs being quite entertaining, however, whether they were carefully produced and edited or just ad-libbed. An entertainer should never lose his critical eye for his own content. You can judge for yourself who of the people involved in this have, or haven't.

Yeah, this is a horrible let's play, but I think the hate towards the Nostalgia Critic is pretty unwarranted. It's okay if you don't like NC. That's fine, but for the love of Diabetus, stop actin' like you need to announce your hate as if it means you get approval and a massive amount of likes. I don't really like Film Brain's reviews due to his tone of voice, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go to every video related to him announcing my dislike as if it somehow means I'm infinitely better than him and his fans.

Apparently, all it takes is for one single video for people to stop watching someone, even though they continue their old shtick afterwards in response to realizing their fault. Similarly, it also takes one video for new people to blanket one's entire performance, even if it's on something they never normally do, if, at all. First impressions are a given, but with the internet, not a lot of people aren't nearly smart or mature enough to look past that.

I actually like the Nostalgia Critic. Also the cinema snob. Where else would I hear about the ridiculously bad movies ? He might be same-ish, but aren't all people like that? All let's players, all reviewers? It's the way a certain person is. You can't just get a completely new personality every single day. You will have your own style and your own way of doing things. For me, as I watch a lot of people I liked them. The trick is not to over-watch just one of them.

I am a former Nostalgia Critic fan, but thankfully I got over that. I used to like his videos, but after a while, it dawned on me that they were all the fucking same, with all the same jokes.
I watched this retsupurae, and it's amazing to see that he's still doing the EXACT same schtick as he was doing when I stopped watching a year and a half ago, right down to yelling "SHUT UP" awkwardly at the end of sentences. Not a single thing has changed.

@TheBrianJ I think Nostalgia Critic is a funny guy, and many of his reviews are still funny, like The Batman and Robin one, but for me, his humour is just a bit obvious and smug these days. He is starting to remind of that attention seeker kid everyone knew at high school who would just shout loudly and do goofy things to get a laugh. I like humour, but his videos offer little insight or analysis, so they feel kind of empty. He's no Red Letter Media, that's for sure. But he's alright.

I used to be a fan of this guy. And do you know how I found out about him? By seeing him doing a video where he called out on the AVGN copying him (which was apparently a gag). So part of his rise to fame involved leeching off of someone else. A class act.

The fact that NC had ANYONE, much less tons of people, on his side for the "competition" should be testament enough to that.
NC was "leeching" off of AVGN about as much as this retsupurae is "leeching" off of the Nostalgia Critic (aka: not at all).

He makes poop jokes that I would have looked down on in middle school, and the whole "angry gamer" thing hasn't produced anything new since his second video. On the other hand, when he's calm and informative, I really like AVGN. He's introduced me to some cool movies and if he did LP's in the same style, I'd definitely watch him. But if left to "Fucking poofuckshitcunt" I don't see the appeal.

I don't get what the fuss is about. The idea was that the Nostalgia Critic tries to do a "Let's play", because it's so easy, and discovers that it isn't easy at all - I found the idea funny. The execution is lacking, because the video is a little bit too long overall, but I was amused enough by it. And Imo it highlighted very well how much work and talent really is behind something which looks so easy.

I would just like to point something out to everybody. Sure, retsupurae was a little mean in this video, but they were right. Everything he does is same. You can't tell me he DIDN'T scream like a dying cat in his review of "Batman and Robin." All he did was come up with some separate gags, like those "Bum Reviews" and "Ask TGWTG." and now he's just cruising along, rehashing the same old things that were never funny. And yes, I used to be a fan, and I quit long before this video came out.

Sometimes what passes for entertainment really is depressing rather than amusing. I remember most of Slowbeef's LPs being quite entertaining, however, whether they were carefully produced and edited or just ad-libbed. An entertainer should never lose his critical eye for his own content. You can judge for yourself who of the people involved in this have, or haven't.

Yeah, this is a horrible let's play, but I think the hate towards the Nostalgia Critic is pretty unwarranted. Especially when retsupurae start attacking NC himself instead of focusing on the let's play at hand. All NC did was make a bad video, he tried something new, and it simply didn't work. I will admit his new reviews aren't very good at all, and I certainly don't like him anymore, but my point stands, just because someone makes one bad video doesn't mean all of them are equal in quality.
