  • When all else fails, Love always WIN...Peace.

  • @seanguider If an artist is established but a stage such as GMWA opens up to them, their face will become known more by the listeners. My point was not that the artist actually got started through J.C. But his ministry further launched them. By the way, I'm COGIC and I knew from a kid that the Clark Sisters were from COGIC.

  • Lynette is a singing sister!!

  • This Brother was so far ahead of himself he didn't even recognize it. Listen to the instrumentation Walter wrote. He was writing scores as simple songs!!!! Phenomenal! And this was back in the 70's and 80's! I can only imagine what his discography was by the time of his home going! This was truly an American and Gospel Icon!

  • I can remember as a kid that one had to prove themselves just to sing in the church choir. Now anybody can join; not to mention "The Praise Team". That has become a free for all. I really want things to be evaluated in our churches and that we get back to fundamental principles before allowing one to sing or play. Old School? Maybe so but compare an artist like Walter Hawkins and Love Center Choir and the anointing that you still can feel when you play something as old and pure as "Changed" to

  • @Mjpawmi I couldn't agree with you more.

  • @Mjpawmi YOU are so right I just made a comment on he video changed and it was very similar.

  • AMEN!!

  • We often ask or say that Gospel Music has changed and honestly when Bishop Hawkins passed we really lost a strong pillar of foundation. It's not as simple as the music but the life experience of an artist. Artists in the earlier years like the 80's and before had something solid. Now with great technology, vocal runs, piano/keyboard, drum riffs and a groove people don't realize that they must listen for the anointing and testimony in an artist.

  • I'm too young to say all but I do remember James Cleveland and the GMWA being a launching pad for artist like John P. Kee, Daryl Coley, Walter Hawkins, the Clark Sisters, Yolanda Adams and others but what launching pad do we have today? It seems that there's no order or chain of command or need to be taught and groomed. Everybody can just sing and make a recording. Something is missing. Premature music as well as artists with no foundation.

  • @Mjpawmi Yes you are to young to know what your talking about!!! It was not James Cleaveland who launched "THe Clark Sister, Walter & Edwin Hawkins, or Daryle Coley. I was the Church of God in Christ!!! So when you make a statemant know what your talking about, and have your facts str8!!!!

  • Have not heard this in years, just awesome. Praise him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for posting.

  • can somebody tell me what happen to daniel hawkins?

  • @mysticman07 Daniel resides in California. I believe he still plays for/attends Love Center. He is still very close to the family.

  • Thank you Jesus for being there for me when I needed you the most. I am most grateful heavenly Father. Thank you Jesus for your mercy, longsuffering, and your tender kindness you have shown me troughout my life. Thank you Jesus.

  • Love this song! I been blasting the mess out of this song along with Try Christ the last 2 days

  • When i was in my early twenties, this song fed my spirit through a long long perioud of unemployement and other hardships I endured through this period. Hearing Lynette Hawkins sing this song comforted my broken soul. Thank you Lynette.

  • I can't enough of this song... I have been replaying it. It is beautiful, thank you for sharing this.

  • I used to listen to this album constantly when I was growing up. Nothing like the Hawkins Family. This is the foundation of gospel music.

  • ohhhh I loove this song!

  • It's hard for me to say which one of Bishop Walter Hawkins' song was my favorite. I guess all of his songs are my favorite. Bishop Hawkins contributed so much to the music industry at large. What a great man!

  • This is my absolute favorite song by Bishop....RIP

  • Tower of Power horns blessed this album! Thanks for posting.

  • I was listen to this when I was little!!!

  • I have been looking for this song for such a long time thank you for posting it!!! I grew up listening to this music!!!

  • Simply put, The Hawkins Dynasty is Gospel Music. Only God himself can bless someone with their individual types of gifts, not voices - but GIFTS! Each of them are extraordinary!!!!!!!

  • Agreed, The Hawkins Family IS the First Family of Gospel; but look who follows...The Clark Sisters and their legacy, the Winans and their children, God Bless them all!

  • I have always loved the Hawkins Family and Bishop Walter Hawkins Love Center Choir.

They were the Gold standard for Gospel Music for many years. How so much talent got into one family and then they added Tramaine. It seemed to be preordained. I was too young to remember their stuff from the late 1960's but I am finding more of this stuff on U tube - It is such a blessing. Wow!

  • Okay, this album was my LIFE! Thanks for posting this!

  • OMG!!! Thanks for posting this GOLD! I used to play this album over and over as a tween-ager in 1980...I used to sing this song with the album as it played...Hawkins' music used to always put me in Jesus' arms. Thanx again for posting...

  • Classic stuff, sing Lynette.........

  • do you have the hawkins family singing "try christ" on tape or anything? I love that song!

  • @Reeca1 I don't know what original album it was on, but you will find it on Light Records "Walter Hawkins - The Hawkins Family - Classic Gold"

  • @Reeca1 I don't know what original album it was on, but you will find it on Light Records "Walter Hawkins - The Hawkins Family - Classic Gold". I found it on iTunes. Hezekiah Walker with Monique Walker leading did a really good rendition also.

  • I listen to this song everyday, it's slowly becoming my favorite next to "What is this" ....amazing!

  • I make you listen to this song everyday, that's why it's slowly becoming your fave baby sis!!! LOL!

  • mmh, that's my secret!

  • The end of this song is so amazingly beautiful!!

  • I met some members of the Hawkins family a few years ago. They are very nice and especially one member is so sweet!

  • That's cool. Which member is 'so sweet'?

  • Can someone tell me who the hawkins family consists of I know Tramaine, the wife of Walter, Lynette, his sister, Edwin, his brother, and shirley miller, their cousin, who are the other people and how are they related or not related to the hawkins?

  • there's Carol and Feddie, his big sister, the drummer is Joel Smith, Feddie's son, walter's nephew. and that's about it. that i know of.

  • Carol is his big sister? Feddie is his brother?

  • Carol is Walter's sister, and Feddie is his big sister also. they're both girls. [look at the picture when they're in red: feddie is the short one in the center. carol is the one on the far right]

  • oh, I get it now, thanks LoveForSure82. Do you know the Hawkins family personally? If you do, you are so lucky!!

  • I've talked to Lynette. We talk sometimes. but that's about it. She's really really nice.

  • And Daniel Hawkins his brother on organ.

  • Yeah him too (:

  • And Yvette Flunder (Not Pictured) is their cousin.

  • Does Any one have Eternal Life, i' am a pilgrim, keep fighting or Try Christ off that same album.

I would love to hear those songs again

  • I have those songs on the cd. Walter Hawkins/ The Hawkins Family Goin To A Place Love Is A God What Is This I'm A Pilgram He'll Be There When You Need Him Eternal Life Keep On Fighting Try Christ 1980 Old Light Records
  • Anbrne I agree with you wholeheartedly. Though I'm sure there is some great music out there, I'm just not sure where lol.

  • The Hawkins Family were and still are my favorite Gospel(singers)Family of all time, they are forerunners in gospel music. I never tire of hearing their music, just as anointed as when performed and recorded, I have many of their golden classics. Thank you Hawkins Family for blessing us with the talent that God gave you!!.

  • This song reminds me of the group I sang with in highschool...we performed this entire album and I still love it today.. I just wished I could find the sheet music for this album. Id teach it to my community choir.

  • I really hate to say it, but I have to. Today's so-called gospel music or shall I say, "Praise" music is empty, hollow, compared to the gospel singers of old. Just listening to the Hawkins Family makes me really feel what love and God is all about. It's not about trying to fit in with the secular music. It stands apart. It stands proudly in a class of it's own. So sad, with all of these mega churches and mega so-called gospel singers, we've lost substance. So sad.

  • It really isn't necessary to take the words right out of my mouth.....LOL. This song comes from one of the most underrated albums in Gospel Music history.

  • AMEN, anbrne! My God, it's all about money and image these days. I never will forget when I saw triniee5-7 dance with the clark sisters on the grammys. this would not have been heard of in the 80s. i'm glad the clarks held their own without trying to be different.

  • sivatmin u and anbrne have to share this offering!! i am trying to do my work but b/c u two are speaking so much truth, i have to witness to the truth. alright i am going to try and finish my work. i am telling u and anbrne, along with woodpaq to quit while u r ahead.

  • well, i guess it is time to take the offering for anbrne oooooookay!!! hey, hey my shiloh! lol

  • @anbrne I know I'm late on this, but you are so right. Gospel artists today try to fit in so much that they water down the message. But as I listened to this song here & others from the older "gospel" generation, I "experienced" the message, the "word" touched me...not the beats. I fully agree with your post & I hope that one day gospel can go back to these times.

  • @anbrne Unfortunately your thought has been shared throughout the history of this great music. Even on the Thomas Dorsey specials, they've said how 'they' didn't like or appreciate his style of "gospel" music because of the nightclub sound. So, even though I don't wholeheartedly disagree with you, i just say it's a change with the times. I'm just thankful "they" are praising Him. I'd much rather hear it they way they interpret it vs. them hollering, cussing, and berating women. JM2C
