The Watchmen movie is verbatim the same as the comic. They changed 10 seconds of the storyline. I agree they made the plot more b&w about morality. Probably stemming from the rewrite that Ozymandias framed Manhattan. But Watchmen is probably the most true to source adaptation I've ever seen and the few changes were deliberate and rational. I don't understand how it is panned by fans simply because Moore has a bee in his bonnet and a squid-monster was replaced by an atomic weapon.
No reason to be sorry, dude. But if I could ask, What were the major things you noticed that were off? For me it was Heroes were tweaked up to be stronger, black kid was recast as a full grown nerdy guy, A character in a scene was switched, the monster (Who I should mention, I really was hoping would pop up at the end instead of just the explosion-scene felt unfinished without it), they completely ignored the original nightowl's death though I hear it's a deleted scene that will be in the dvd.
well because they are aiming for the children also not just fan base regardless of the audience they aimed for it still was poorly done not bad bur it could have been alot better
But THATS why I always thought live action adaptations of comics/cartoons are always bad idea...not cause the story will be shortened into 1-2 hours, but because characters even close to what they should.
Well I just believe that DB was always DB from start to today, there are no franchises with such crazy weird funny+serious story such as DB nor with the same artstyle as DB, its unique in both ways
Therefore I think its not cliche
Yes I agree, everybody will take as important those things that THEY personally like most about DB :)
But you have to like majority of something in order to be a FAN of that something :) not ONLY of few characters an few scnes and to hate rest lol :)
How did I not comment on this? Coulda sworn I did.

Well it is said that DBZ (not a DB) has been called the greatest action cartoon of all time.
Now im talking about action, the fights in DBZ were awesome.

Now I'm gonna explain you why I consider DB/Z as the last thing in this world that should be called "cliche" :)
What is cliche/cheapness? :)
My personal definition of it is "A FAILED ATTEMPT TO BE ORIGINAL" NOT "too simple philosophy".
Why so? because since movies/cartoons exist people always tended to put some deep uncertain philosophy into their movies.
It is SO much used that its just CHEAP.
While staying simple is actually the most ORIGINAL thing you could ever do CAUSE NOBODY DOES IT :D

Well thats subjective :) for me it will always be.
Especially when it comes to awesomeness, messages, and artstyle uniqueness :)

I guess that was more of an opinion then fact. Don't get me wrong I am a hard core DB fan(more so than Z actually)
When it came out it wasn't cliched but by today's standards it looks that way. That's what I meant and should have said.
Though I do not think it's the best written Manga of all time, it is my favorite.
Oh and I LOVE the artsytle too.
But what it really comes down to is what one thinks makes a manga the best. And you and I just have different ideas on that.
