why is it that the water has a straight boarder line all the time in games? when the water moves it should create an illusion that its bouncing off the walls.

Well in past games the water was "fake" as in a 2D surface rendered in 3D space things like creating a wake when a person or vehicle moves through it is all animated and not real-time as water is really hard to do in games especially on the XB360 which can do it to an extent but you cant scale it dynamically like you can on the PC or PS3 as you can see in games like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune or Crysis.

it depends on the game really...for example uncharted drakes fortune looks great on the ps3 because it was designed for the cell processor and the hardware of the ps3...of course some games just look bad, not because the console is incapable of rendering high quality graphics, but because the game was designed poorly or it was ported to the system...most games are designed for the 360, then ported to the ps3...

The object destruction physics on Star Wars Force Unleashed isn't the same though-Force Unleashed uses particle destruction, which does make things more destructible, however a system like that wouldn't work in Gears, or at least, the multiplayer.

the thing i am still amazed by this engine is that it could produce over the top graphics. Somehow they can do it without loosing FPS and that is impressive. Many other games suffer a lot because of upgrading graphics and suffer from low FPS or even lag.
