He didn't cut his hand by starting it. He stuck his hand in it when it was running. A chicken stick wouldn't of really helped. Most accidents i've seen similar to this happen when the engine has already started...i.e taking the glow off or tuning it...not starting.
A powerful brushless electric motor will take your fingers off too ! Especially so when the throttle stick is the "on" "off" switch. Never muck around with the glow plug still attached and didn't they know about electric starters ???
That is why all the manuals tell you to never lean over the prop, never pass over it to adjust stuff, and generally keep all your body on one side of it.
Shit, I've had more than that knocked of the end of my pecker ...

Root cause of this accident was haste and rushing to accomplish the task.

3 things here.
1: Stress
2: Not respecting the prop. You know what I`m talking about. Start with the finger?
3: Wrong handling of the plane.
Good thing it wasn`t a bigger engine.

La sacó barata, se notaba muy imprudente y poco concentrado en lo que hacía.
Lo rpimero que hay que hacer cuando estas con un modelo RC es estar 100% pendiente del modelo.

Never ever start a engine with ur bare hands, its just stupid and so dangerous as uve proved buddy. Use a chicken stick or a rubber finger protector!

@airforceonedown Electric is worse, unlike a IC motor an electric motor will not stall like the IC motor when it strikes.

thats why i use electric planes + you only keep the body of the plane on the same side as your own bodie then this wont happen
