I've seen Oasis 6 times. Once when Liam was a no show due to laryngitis in the early 90's. That was back when we didn't have a clue if Noel could sing. I just saw them my last time in 2009 in Detroit. They sold about 3,000 tickets in a 23,000 seat venue. Liam kept getting pissed off at the microphone. He kept saying he couldn't hear himself and didn't sing half of the songs. They still are and will always be my favorite group but this concert showed to me that they are finished.

did you even look at those videos suggested by stonesprite? liam is no way near as good now as then, his voice is prone to fuckedness, but back in the day he was a big deal, i saw them at maine road and his voice was fucking magnificent i also saw them at the beginning of this year and he sounded great though not a patch on yesteryear. here he sounds shit and he knows it. lennons voice was not a patch on mcartneys i feel but each to their own.

Why do people rate him as having one of the greatest voices in rock'n'roll history? He's a great frontman without any doubt, but an average singer at best. Elvis had a great voice, Bono has a great voice, Brian Johnson has/had a great voice, John Lennon had a great voice. Would you put Liam next to these guys? I wouldn't. As I said, one of the finest frontmen EVER, but let's not mix frontman and vocal ability....

He's said it himself, he's not the best singer but he has the Voice. Noel's better singer than Liam. But Liam has one of the greatest voices.

Sure 95 was 15 years ago but it's his voice back in those days that is why he is talked as one of the greatest rock'n'roll voices of all the time. It's not as good anymore but it's not as bad as it used to be at some points.

Also, forgot to mention, when he's ranked as a great voice it's not just keeping in the tune. It's the delivery too. The whole deal you hear when he's singing.

For sure he sings with passion but delivery? He can't hold hold or define notes and that to me is poor delivery. And yes, singing in tune is what it's ALL about. Would Oasis hire a drummer who played out of time but with great passion? No. Would Noel have asked Andy or Gem to join if they played wrong, out of tune notes but with passion? No. The absolute same should go for the lead singer who should deliver crisp, clear vocals. Check Bono, singing for 30+ years. Crisp and clear. See?

He can generally hold the notes. He can't hit all notes he used to, granted. But slips like these are not everyday stuff for him you didn't happen to know.

He fucked up his voice quite a bit and that's a combination of many things. Ofc his using of cigs+alcohol+drugs. His singing style, which is style not many singers use, it's very rough for one's voice. There's also been talk about him having those what'stheycalled nodules or such in throat which obviously affects voice+ability to sing.

Most essential with Liam his his distinctive voice, not singing technique. And most fans forget that Noel also did lots of drugs, and he smoked and drank alot but Noel's voice is fine. I think it might be the hard touring Oasis do that contributes to strained vocals of liam

I guess it goes down to personal opinion. For me singing isn't all about doing it 100% perfectly. One has to get .. through to people, a thing not many singers can do(not saying Bono can't, he is great). The way Liam sings, no one can make me *believe* as well as he can. His delivery and style. Good example is song like Rock'n'roll star.

ok so here's what happened: my best friends uncle is the doctor that is on tour with oasis on their DIG OUT YOUR SOUL tour. liam flipped the microphone and slammed his tambourine down because he was frustrated with his voice, he went offstage to tell the doctor "i cant take this anymore, my voice is dying" he then came back on for the rest of the gig before seeing a doctor to find out he needed some time off!
