Not quite agree with this statement at large. But i agree with evacoustic's comment.
I even wish to say something provocative that i think that ChenSB also loves taiwan. But because of his perspectives toward PRC (due to fear) and toward KMT (due to hate), and because of his limited ability, what he did ended up hurting taiwan badly.
ChenSB once was an A legislator, but he was a terrible president, pure loser, was mocked at for anything he did. if what he did as a legislator got 90 out of 100, i would give him -199 out of -200 for his presidency (as of now).

老蒋在当时就是个民族英雄，很多人愿意追随他
美国人也很尊敬他和宋美龄，但是三军美式装备都是免费的
现在却要拿6000多亿去买40年前的旧武器
当时没有老蒋，中共早就解放台湾了
现在看着台湾对他的仇恨那么深，也是很有感慨
大陆的老毛也是一样，功过参半，历史人物随他去吧

很遗憾的是很多大陆人没有仔细区分台湾人之间的区别。大陆有56个民族，地域差异显著。政府和人民为了维持促进国家的稳定，强化中国意识做了几十年的工作。但是一个台湾

的存在确实是个潜在的稳定威胁。近年来台湾在强化自我意识，这个潜在的威胁逐渐成为了一个直接的独立威胁。而且一个独立的台湾肯定要依靠敌对势力生存下去，这个是觉对不能容忍的。
近年来反华的宣传，法轮功的宣传无一不以台湾为基地，大陆人产生本能的反感也是想当可以理解
