  • THIS IS WHAT I CALL TRULY INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY! Great. Big smile!

  • ابو فلبن لو يعلمون بناتهم تسذا كان وناسه ببيوت الطين

    اويلاااه

  • yeah a great idea.......until the tropical rains (i bet).

  • they add chlorine to kill any bacteria in the water and keep it from getting discolored and slimey.

  • brilliant

  • 1:12 liwanag = "it's the light of life"

    yeah. right.

  • this reminds me of how I love the nature of our people; savvy, inventive, practicle and sharing. Costs next to nothing. Now think how far we can take that and what's happening at the top. Are the expert scientists, biologists, neophysicists, economists and global climate change agents producing anything as remotely interesting as this? What? Between them they can't produce anything like a one dollar recycled lighting solution for those they have deprived. Depraved, ain't it?

  • what liquid do you put inside the bottle..??

    Thanks

  • @Sukerena Watch the film, duh, W-a-t-e-r. Jeez.

  • @DaftAida

They not only use water. They add chlorine. But I dont know why.

Who knows what is the advantage of chlorine-adding?

  • @UweDippold

Oh, I get it... I think I know, why they add chlorine....

It ist because to minimize the upgrowth of algae.

  • @UweDippold prevents water stagnating thus keeping it clear for transmission, I guess.

  • taena!! ung mga translators lalo na ung babae nakakainis >_< parang lasing na maarte na hindi mo maintindhan (T_T). Oh well. i just wish for the people who lives in poverty specially in Philippines the best of luck and for them to be able live their lives happily and normally :)

  • A friend sent me this vid yesterday. STUPENDOUS!! awesome thnx-

  • genius idea! if you can't relate to how people in developing countries are resilient and make due with what is available, you have probably never set foot outside your first world country lol

  • I love this!! Genius.

  • brilliant idea, recycling of Coca Cola waste as skylights, who can we thank for this inginuity....great work....

  • Dat cool holmes skilly biskit

  • Amazing idea! I wish you much success.

  • It's like, all of a sudden a light bulb went on over my head, but in this case it was a Coke bottle!

  • I like, but it is "dislikes", you have finally not had. It is like the "light tunnels" used in the 60 's, to 70's, but they cost more than $1. They were/are, made with mirror finnished, circular, ducting and can light anywhere in a house with natural light, when the sun shines.

  • What a great way to reuse old Coke bottles!

  • Fantastic Filipino invention !

  • finally!!! a video that does not have deslikes

  • This is so KOOL!

  • Plastic sheets? Glow in the dark paint? These people don't have anything. You can see that. Amazing idea for practically nothing. What an ingenious idea for these poor people. Let there be light!

  • soon there would be no roof ...only coke bottles

  • there is a add on tv for a pesi or a coke bottle we whached this in esc or t.a.c.k. lab as some may know it.

  • Hi SL PHYSICS!

  • Most of you are missing the point. There is not the money to buy Solatubes, clear plastic panels or phosphorescent paint. Remember - they installed these things for less than $1 each. Including labor.

  • Just buy a couple of clear roof sheets or glass. It is much better. Prevents roof leaks caused by the bottle contraption

  • @lildude8210 Roof sheets cost more than $1 installed - and they let in huge amounts of heat. Listen to the start of the video - talks about how hot it is.

  • GE is gonna be pissed !

  • There has been a commercial version of this device for many years I have seen in use but cant remember name about 4-5 times the size.

  • wow

  • Okay, here's an addition: paint the interior of these homes with phosphorescent paint to prolong the exposure to light. Paint the exterior of homes that border major streets if night lamps are non-existent. Remember how long the glow-in-the-dark toys emitted light? Find the optimum materials and cost then deploy.

  • This is one GREAT IDEA! Hoping it can reach more homes around the country. Tremendous savings and great for the environment.
