the u.s. economy has lost a great deal of trust around the world. and the reasons the dollar was ever made the reserve currency is because america had a large industrial base and because at the time the dollar was backed by gold, neither of which stand true today. the only reason it is has value now is because it is the world reserve currency.

The dollar will be phased out in the next 2 to 10 years as main reserve currency and a new international currency going between all trades will exist. So the dollar for example will only be used internally in US and all international transactions will be conducted in SDR's or similar.

The Yuan is pegged to the dollar, but it's also pegged to several other currencies namely the Euro, Yen, and British Pound, as well as some others. It's not directly pegged to the dollar. They use a formula, but they won't tell anyone what that is.
